Do we need to post our comments in anon mode in this thread as well? To be honest, I feel like a friend meme would be a good thing in this fandom and I suppose the discussion post could be used as one if people comment with their DW/LJ handles?

There's nothing in the rules about it. I think the whole anon thing is more a convention of kink memes than a formal rule, so all that really matters is the general meme attitude towards deanoning. Given how much crossposting to AO3 there is, you might as well start a friending meme and see what happens.

This was the first one that popped into my head, I adore it so much: http://archiveofourown.org/works/3844489 because I am a sucker for Matt and Foggy focused genfic (and Foggy getting upset on Matt's behalf) and also for Matt's blindness having a frustrating impact on his life because sure he can sense shapes and heartbeats and he's a ninja but he is still blind.

I really enjoyed how Ep 13 was about both Matt and Fisk embracing the darkness instead of stumbling about trying to walk the fine line between good and bad. Fisk declares that he is 'the ill intent' and Matt literally becomes the devil.

I have a quick question just because im curious!;

How many of you guys were reading comics before you watched Daredevil? And had your read any daredevil comics before watching?

Also how many of you picked up a daredevil comic because you enjoyed the TV show so much?

I was reading comics! Though not Daredevil. The closest I came to that character were minor appearances in Ultimate Spider-Man (and that was Ultimate Daredevil, so...) and the Darkdevil character in Spider-Girl.

The show inspired me to start reading Waid's run on Daredevil. I love it like crazy, even though it's pretty different from the show. But I think I've heard that it's ending soon? I'm so sad to see Waid go.

Never read any DD comic but thought of doing it after watching the season. Though, as any other comic franchise (avengers, iron man, gotg,...) I feel overwhelmed by the amount of series/storylines etc that my resolution disappear, so I give up xD

Sorry for posting this on the main -- the ETA with the discussion post flew right over my head (mostly because I've been checking this thing super late at night).

But yeah the abridged version -- I am not in fandom, haven't been in years. Are there any resources for finding betas for either anonymous memes or generally for Daredevil fandom, because one fill I've been avoiding for a while is because it's a big-bang sized monstrosity and I know my writing -- for anything over 5k words, I need a beta. I'd love some tips on finding resources, anons, if you know of anything for this aged old-school estranged fandom hag.

What's the prompt you're interested in writing the long story for? idk about resources but I'm a person with fairly good grammar/spelling skills who has a lot of time on her hands currently (starting now, til Sept) and I'd be interested in offering, depending on the story. I've betaed a long of longfic in the XMFC fandom a few years ago, although I was rarely the only beta for those stories.

I'm still stuck on the abuse-in-childhood parallels, which I think are fantastic. (accidentally fantastic? did the show mean to draw those parallels? i go back and forth between yes, they're intentional, and no, probably not) but. i mean. you've got two victims of abuse who grow up to express their tempers in physical ways! mostly it's not excused! it is presented as A Bad Thing!

I wish he'd gotten more public when I was younger, because guys, that's the kind of male role-model I was looking for when I was 16 and first thinking about maaaaybe possibly being trans/a guy, and then looked around and went, nope, I'm too fat and femme.

And along comes that guy and there's prove that you can have the round buddy face and a few pounds extra AND wear huge shiny rings and nail polish whenever you want to, or an up-do on the red carpet, and still be a man.

I thought someone might find this funny but my Mum and I just video Skyping and her video was really bad but she was denying it so I took a screenshot to send to her and I only just realised my Skype was not fullscreen in the background there are four tabs along the top of my screen with 'daredevilkink' written very clearly on them.

I just need to say that I adore this meme so much. The crack is incredible but there's also the fact you can see a prompt like 'totally gen cuddling fic with everyone happy' right above 'non-con gangbang no plot just fuck this character up' and both getting the same amount of support.

I'm only like halfway through watching it for the second time now...but I wouldn't say I've got their characterisations spot on. I'm actually waiting to watch a certain episode before I get going on this fic I'm planning bc it's linked to canon but I can't remember any details XD I'm shit at rewatching stuff though unless I've got someone else to watch it with...I tend to just dive in and hope for the best oops

GUYS. I'm having confusion. Most people call Daredevil law school era 'college era', but when they write the actual fics they're obviously entirely aware that Matt and Foggy are in law school, and even I can tell that when a prompt says college era they generally mean law school era.

So...why do you think this happened? Is it just shorthand? Was there confusion? I DON'T KNOW WHY I CARE ABOUT THIS BUT I DO.

(also btw i am not bitching about this, i'm just wondering about it. i have nothing against clawlegge era, though i do think that it should be now called clawlegge era bc i think i'm funny.)

Also this might not make sense, so...I'm really sorry. It's late and I did a lot of exercise today.

well i mean idk about american fans but im australian and law schools are generally not separate entities from universities/colleges. All of my friends doing law just went straight into a bachelor of law in their university of choice.

(im not exactly sure how america does it but you guys do a generalised degree before applying for law school right??)

so at least for me that's why I call it college era. I think it also caught on because college era is a lot easier/less awkward to say than like.. law school era. it takes up less space on headers too.
also I think it comes partially from that scene where we find out Matt can speak spanish and foggy's like 'thats college for you'. A lot of people connected that to the flashback scenes in episode 10 I think because they sort of follow the same theme if not timeline.

Um does anyone have any advice for someone who wants to start reading the daredevil comics?? I've seen stuff about it before but I just find it so confusing >_< like, firstly which ones would you recommend I start off with?? And secondly...is there any way I can cheaply get my hands on them? Like digital copies or whatever?

someone upthread recommended starting with Mark Waid's run, aka Volume 3, which was an excellent starting point for me. It doesn't assume any previous knowledge and repeatedly explains how Matt's powers work, and is generally an absolute delight.

Where did everyone develop this headcanon that Matt is against taking the lords name in vain when he does it in episode 1 (in front of a priest even).
