I'm an idiot who posted this with the wrong link, and everyone is utterly confused. Fixing it in comments didn't really help, so I'll just report the first one to be deleted, and hopefully nobody will rain hell fire on me for posting twice - this time with the link that makes sense.

So, there's a trope of Nelson and Murdock defending Bucky Barnes in the fanon. And then there's this: http://daredevilkink.dreamwidth.org/6856.html?thread=13333960#cmt13333960

So I can't help but imagine, there comes Steve Rogers to ask N&M for legal aid for his friend, explaining the case to them, and the Murdock lawyer just... goes pale.

"I didn't realize..." he clears his throat. "I'm sorry, Mr. Rogers, I can't be your attorney."

"But..."

"I'm a witness in this trial."


Cue Foggy Nelson leading Barnes' defense on his own, and getting to listen to Matt's testimony, learning in front of *the whole damn court* that no, actually, he didn't know everything about his best friend now that he knew about daredevil.


Bonuses:

+ 1 Foggy and Matt prepared for the case, obviously, so Foggy heard some of Matt's story in private first. But not all, as it turns out. Definitely not all.

+ 10 Matt had only been kept with Bucky eleven months. The atmosphere was getting thick, and the Winter Soldier decided it was time to get Matt out. With a riot and a man getting killed (by Bucky) right in front of him, Matt escapes, but Bucky doesn't.

+100 As Matt runs, he hears something that has him convinced Bucky died for this. It never occurred to him that the Washington terrorist might just be... him.

+1000 Matt deciding to talk in front of a court puts his secret identity in immediate danger, and Foggy has at least three heart attacks when the prosecution questions him. Then again, Foggy's kind of angry, and yeah, maybe he put a twist or two in his questions that had Matt squirming in his seat. They talked about it. Foggy *warned* him. Matt decided clearing Bucky's name is more important than than very possibly soiling his own. Idiot.

+10000 Matt feels really strongly about his childhood protector, but Bucky doesn't remember much... he wants to, though. Now that he met this man, he wants to get to know him, and get to know the boy that he was once.

+100000 Matt and Bucky talk about their shared past, and Bucky listens quietly as Matt tells him stories. Matt and Foggy talk too, and Foggy shouts and paces and doesn't know what to do with the shock.

Also:

Pre-court meeting is the first time Matt learns Bucky's name. (there is a panel in the inspiration thread with Matt naming the Soldier "Bucky" after some president. Please ignore that. Feel free to have Matt give him any other name, though. Jack?)

Matt and Foggy do NOT share Matt's vigilante secret with Bucky and/or Steve. If they learn it, it's in a painful unexpected way, far into the story.

When Foggy questions Matt, he acts cool-headed, but he reacts to Matt's answers: his heartbeat races, he swallows too much, the joints in his fingers click, his breathing changes that way it does when he's about to cry... Matt knows. His heartbeat races, too.

Post-s2 Matt has lost everything that's ever made him happy, he has no friends left, no job, and no future. He's using up the last of his inheritance just to stay alive. It's a shitty life and if he can turn it around is up to the author, I'm a sucker for both angst and h/c.

Inhuman Shapeshifter Changes Into Foggy To Distract Matt

There’s an Inhuman running around New York with the power to change their appearance at will. Matt goes after them, but they’ve got some sort of mind-reading ability, too, which muddles him just enough that his senses can’t tell the difference between the real person and the imposter straight away.

Matt’s almost closing in when the shapeshifter decides their best chance is to confuse him, throw him off just long enough that they can get away. So they change their shape and pretend that they’re Foggy, using Matt’s own impressions/memories of him to complete the deception.

They ease in close, maybe playing up concern for Matt like Foggy would. But just as they see that Matt is about to twig to their deception, they go for the ultimate distraction. They lean in slowly and kiss him. And after a stunned moment, Matt grabs on and kisses them right back with some very non-platonic fervency.

It doesn’t last long, because Matt soon (finally) figures out that it’s not Foggy kissing him at all.



+ Karen or Foggy sees it happening either in person or on a video feed and is very ‘what the everloving fuck is going on here, Murdock’ about it.

++ Matt eventually gets to find out what kissing the *real* Foggy is like.

Even once the Daredevil thing is revealed, even if Karen is not-so surprisingly okay with it, Matt and Karen still can’t make it work. The more they try, the more incompatibilities they find.

No hate for either character, just a look at two people who have come to realize they had started to fall in love with someone who didn’t exist.

Foggy develops a stammer

Because I love the Matt speech impediment prompts.

Did you know it is possible to develop a stammer as an adult? It's pretty rare, and when it happens its most likely to be either a neurological injury, down to drug abuse or the recurrence of a childhood stammer, but there are times when a stressful event can trigger it. Know what's pretty stressful? Getting shot. Having your business collapse around you. Breaking up with your best friend. Plus any number of other things that have happened to him recently.

Just give me Foggy suddenly developing this problem that he's never had before and it's so frustrating and he doesn't know what to do about it...

The Defenders, Superhero Friends

So both Claire and Brett have shown up in Jessica Jones at this point.

However, Matt's new friends don't make the connection between "my BFF Foggy" and Franklin Nelson, that guy at HC&B who gets stuck with all our cases.

Until one day Foggy shows up at Alias Investigations about a job. Just after they've come back from a fight with the Villain-of-the-Week.

"Ms. Jones. Mr. Cage. Mr. Rand... Jesus Christ, Murdock. Why are you bleeding?!"

Karen commiserates on being friends with idiot vigilantes with questionable survival instincts.

"At least he's not running around punching criminals in his cargo pants anymore."

Trish and Malcolm are just like: GOD. YES. THANK YOU.

Jessica tries to argue that she is not that bad.

"A truck, Jess. You got hit by a truck."

Bad guys make a clone of Frank, which starts out as a baby. Matt finds him before the bad guys can use him to make their army (or whatever they were going to do with him?) and he (with the help of Karen, (Claire?), and Foggy) raises baby!Frank as his own.

Post-Reconciliation, Matt/Frank, babyfic

So Foggy decides to reconcile with Matt after he's had a while of earning money and calming down. He meets Matt out for coffee, and is more than a little bit shocked when Matt brings a baby with him.

It turns out that through some magical shenanigans, the Punisher stopped some thugs from killing Loki, who thanked him by making a baby girl with Matt and Frank's genes, and handing it to the Punisher. Now Frank and Matt are raising their infant child together, and have become a romantic couple.

Foggy is worried and baffled.

Bonuses: the Punisher is still Punishing, just very carefully, and spends most of his time with the baby. Matt is very good with her too, and does Daredevilling just as often.

A big part of Matt’s decision to shut down Nelson and Murdock was that he didn’t want to drag Foggy down with him.

After Foggy got shot, he felt even more resolved. Being around Matt only put Foggy in more danger, so it was better to cut those ties and let Foggy walk away. It was, Matt thought, the best way to keep him safe and happy (ish).

So Foggy leaves Nelson and Murdock, joins HC&B, and then proceeds to find himself in mortal peril, like, once a week. Matt doesn’t deal with it very well.


+ 100 for Matt getting so agitated by this turn of events that he starts skulking around Foggy like a guard dog.

+ 1000 for Foggy, despite everything, letting Matt back in because 1) current events indicate that having a vigilante on hand might be a good idea and 2) he still can’t just sit by when it looks like Matt’s in any kind of pain, even if it’s self-inflicted.

OMC/Matt, noncon, angst, Matt doesn't tell Foggy

After the events of S2, Matt and Foggy are on the way to rebuilding their relationship but things are still tense about Daredevil.

One night, as Daredevil, Matt is overpowered, captured and raped. He manages to escape (and maybe put the perpetrators in a coma on the way) and find his way back home.

In the aftermath, Matt tries to deal with it alone... But slowly but surely, things start falling apart again. All his few friendships are becoming strained with his apparent return to totally reckless, erratic behaviour. He has nightmares, can't sleep, can't eat, and maybe begins to fall into depression. He can't concentrate on anything, not his legal work nor his vigilantism. He gets injured more often, sometimes out of pure carelessness.

Foggy is worried and angry, and demands to know what's going on. Matt being Matt, of course, he doesn't say a word. He desperately needs some kind of support to get through it but, among many other reasons including self-blame, shame, ... he's also terrified Foggy will leave again because it's yet another Daredevil-related mess. So he keeps it a secret.

Until one day, when Foggy finally learns the truth.

Matt can’t go a day without something reminding him of Foggy.

Maybe it’s smelling a certain kind of coffee or having to walk by the office or hearing a certain song. Maybe he finds one of Foggy's ties in his apartment or goes to reach for an arm that isn’t there. Matt has a Foggy-shaped abyss in his life that's eating away at him and he can't ignore it.


Bonus if at one point Matt senses something that yet again reminds him of Foggy, only to belatedly realize that this time it’s actually Foggy. Right there.

Maybe Melvin's mentioned his admiration of all the stuff Tony's built, and Matt thought it might be a nice b-day gift or something to introduce the two. Or maybe Tony's been ragging on Matt about his gear, insisting he can provide better stuff, and Matt gets fed up ("Okay, fine. YOU can tell the guy my gear sucks and why you think so..."). No matter how you get them introduced, Tony is actually impressed by what Melvin is producing, especially with Melvin's limited resources (at least I think he's limited to what he can get...).

And then Tony threatens to steal Melvin away/hire him on the spot. Or maybe these two mad tinkerers end up making Nikola Tesla look like a complete hack...

Because Melvin needs more love.

And Natasha does a little investigating and puts herself into a position to run into him. And when he becomes infatuated, well, this opens up possibilities.

I just want something where foggy finds out matt has been kidnapped and beaten whilst as matt Murdock blind defense attorney and the criminals say they want to see daredevil. Foggy gets in touch with Jessica jones and he dresses up in matts daredevil costume still at matts place and with a little help from some local vigilantes that foggy may have befriended he has the honours of picking up matt from whatever cell/torture chamber he was in and carrying him out of that hellhole.

+1 foggy is actually surprised and impressed he fits in the suit even though he's been working out now he's got a fancy new job
+10 matt hasn't seen foggy in months so when he's in foggys arms he breaks down and is all like I knew you would come find me!

MCU Daredevil vs the Terrifying Stilt-Man

So in the Daredevil comics there's this running gag about a villain named Stilt-Man, whose only ability is to use a suit with hydraulic legs to make himself taller. I want to see a crack-tastic fic where Stilt-Man turns up in the MCU and Matt has to stop his one-man crime spree.

Jessica takes Matt to a safe place to lay low

Sometime after s2, Daredevil and Jessica Jones have a somewhat cooperative working relationship. They get into a scuffle after which Daredevil needs a place to recuperate. Jessica looks around and says she knows a guy who lives in that part of town; he’s good people, he’ll probably let them crash there for a little while.

So she takes Matt to Foggy’s new apartment.



Bonuses

- if Matt does know where Foggy's new place is, but he didn't figure out that's where JJ was dragging (carrying?) him until it was too late.

- if Jessica susses out that they know each other real quick and gives Foggy grief about it. (possibly also catching buried pining and heartache because she is an astute private detective? and being very "oh for fuck's sake why" about it?)

- totally optional, but Jessica dropping off a raggedy Daredevil on Foggy's fire escape or calling him when Matt's woozy happens more than once.

Bonus points for a three-way with Trish

Double bonus points if it turns out Jessica pretended he was a stranger to her but she recognized his name when he introduced himself because she's been doing some investigating for one of Foggy's cases and Foggy talks about him.

Triple bonus points if she hooks up with him because she got the impression from Foggy that Matt was A+ with the ladies.
