Because I have moved into so many apartments with "just" some minor issues.

Foggy's place is a dump, so when the law firm does better he looks for a new place and brings Matt.

Matt can tell there are roaches. That the downstairs neighbours have a bad drug habit. That there's mold behind a wall.He can smell scenes of a crime. He can tell the 'renovations' ammount to a paint job.

And he is a lawyer.

Make bad landlords suffer.

Give me everyone admiring his looks on set, either during filming, or when he's prepping for his scenes by doing push-ups or something.

Bonus points if it leads to sex with someone (anyone, or multiple someones).

Then he's told he's going to be adopted and unable to see the Nelsons for technical reasons. Matt's devastated and determined to hate the new family, until he meets the Nelsons.

Foggy Nelson and Matt Nelson Murdock still go to Columbia together but this time as brothers.

It started, as this whole superheroes thing did in the first place, with Steve Rogers.

Karen had never been one to follow war propaganda or military history very much, and to her, sitting in her middle school classroom as they studied World War II when she wanted to be finishing her math homework and go out with her first boyfriend ever, that's what Captain America was. She knew he'd been a regular person at some point and had become superhuman, but the stint was short-lived and he'd vanished into the ice.

When she met Steve, she'd just gotten out of a long day of work and swung by a Starbucks for a pick-me-up before returning home to do more work. She had eyes and a pulse, so of course she noticed the tall, broadly shouldered, slim-waisted man with neatly combed golden hair standing in line before her, but it was a passing interest: an observation, a spark of Oh la la!, and then back to running over the results of a report in her head that'd bothered her earlier that day.

It took her a while to realize the noise behind her was the grumbling of impatient caffeine addicts, and the grumbling was caused by the confusion of the person in front of her. The barista was not helping: a young kid himself, he was staring at the tall blond with a starstruck look and a dust of rose over his face. He was also tripping over his tongue as he tried to explain the coffee menu.

"I just," Tall, Blond & Handsome huffed, "I just want a coffee. Any size."

"W-which roast? We have, uh, we have Mike's Place - Pike Place! Pike roast. Sorry, I'm Mike. Mike's place would be my place. I guess. Uh, I mean, not that-- not that that's on the menu, but--"

Karen did her best to stifle her snort of laughter, but it was very much in vain. TB&H glanced back at her, and the lost look on his face made her laugh again. "Sorry, just - never been to a Starbucks before, huh?"

"I haven't been to any coffeeshop in a very, very long time," the man admitted.

"Starbucks is probably not the place for a beginner, then," Karen teased him. "If you like it strong, you probably either want the dark roast or an americano. If you just want some light caffeination, Pike is the medium roast here, so it's probably the safest bet."

The man immediately looked uncomfortable. "A what? I-- is that a joke?"

"I never joke about coffee," Karen promised. "An americano is just an espresso with hot water. The taste is stronger than regular brewed coffee. Dark roast might taste a little burnt, but that's a Starbucks thing more than the brew. A latte's an espresso with steamed milk. You can always order a regular black coffee and add half-and-half over there," she added, pointing toward the kiosk that housed half-and-half, soy milk, and small shakers of cinnamon, nutmeg and chocolate.

"I'll try an americano, then. Uh - medium size," TB&H decided. "And I'll pick up the tab for this young woman's order, please."

"What? no, you don't--" Karen began to protest, but TB&H shook his head firmly.

"Please. I absolutely insist," TB&H urged. "I'd still be staring at the menu or running out the door if it weren't for you."

Being a city girl, Karen was immediately suspicious of his motives, but relaxed after a moment. There was something about him that was just so... so sincere, it was disarming. "All right. A tall creme brulee latte, please and thank you," she ordered, addressing the last to Mike the Barista.

As Mike punched in the order and began making making the coffees, TB&H turned to face Karen more fully and held out a hand, smiling. "Thank you so much for your help, miss."

"You're very welcome," Karen replied, taking his hand and shaking it. "And please, no 'Miss' - I get enough of that at work," she laughed. "Karen, please."

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Karen," TB&H responded, letting go of her hand. "My name is Steve."

Six months later, she gaped at the television after the alien invasion was over. It was replaying battle scenes of the various costumed superheroes, which was absolutely horrifying, but it was one scene particular of an unmasked blond breathing heavily and covered in dirt and debris that had her staring in shock.

She snatched up the phone and waited impatiently as it rang. When it picked up, she barely waited for Steve to mumble "Hello?" before blurting out, "You jerk! You scared me half to death! Are you okay? Where are you?"

There was a moment of silence before Steve responded. "Uh. I'm-- I'm fine, yeah. Sorry for scaring you. Where are you? You weren't downtown, were you? God, I should have called--"

"No, no, I'm fine, stop," Karen pleaded, halfway to hysterical. "I was at a meeting in Greenwich when the news broke. Dammit, Steve!"

"Is that Karen Page?" Karen heard a strangely familiar voice ask from the other end of the line.

"Yeah. You-- wait, was SHIELD tapping my phone?" Steve asked, sounding suddenly alert and suspicious.

Karen could practically hear Clint's eye roll. "Jesus, no. We used to be neighbours, when I lived in Hell's Kitchen for a while."

"Karen? The cute blond with the clover tattoo?" a more feminine voice piped up.

"You-- Are y-you," Karen stammered, "is that-- are Clint and Tash with you?"

"Tash?" Steve echoed, confused.

"Yeah, she calls me Tash," Natasha could be heard explaining as another voice, more quiet and thoughtful, wondered aloud why that name was familiar.

Karen knew that voice.

"Is that Dr. Banner?" she asked.

There was a shushing sound that Karen strongly suspected was Steve, as he asked right after the other voices died down, "How do you know Bruce?"

"He used to—"

"Dr. Page's daughter!" Bruce realized in a tone of wonder. "Little Kare-Bear!"

"Oh my god," Karen blurted out, "he's not allowed to call me that anymore!"

"Okay, I'm getting really creeped out here," Tony Stark's very distinctive and very loud voice cut in. "By Dr. Page, do you mean Pax, the physicist who was studying radiation?"

"Uh. Yes?" Bruce replied.

"I know not this Karen Page you speak of," a completely unfamiliar voice boomed like a clap of thunder; Karen thought she felt the hairs on her neck rise from a sensation of static electricity. "But a most noble maiden she must be, to have the esteem of noble warriors such as yourselves! I should quite like to meet her."

"Oh my god," Karen mumbled.

There was a sudden cacophany of too many voices trying to out-talk each other, and Karen couldn't make out more than the useless stray word here and there until Steve shushed everyone again. "Karen, we've got some cleanup to do tomorrow during the day, but do you want to have dinner with us tomorrow? Tony says he'll send out a car to pick you up from wherever."

"Oh my god," Karen repeated.

Steve gave a soft huff of laughter. "I'll take that as an overwhelmed yes, especially as Tony is already nosily figuring out your address and arranging a chauffeur. We'll see you tomorrow, yeah?"

"Yeah," Karen echoed. "I mean, yes, okay, sure. All right. I can do that. I just... oh my god."

"Yeah," Steve echoed back, "that's about how we feel, too."

Dollhouse fusion/crossover: Matt is a Doll

If you haven't seen the show, here is a brief summary, pulled from Wikipedia: "The show revolves around a corporation running numerous underground establishments (known as 'Dollhouses') around the globe that program individuals referred to as Actives (or Dolls) with temporary personalities and skills. Wealthy clients hire Actives from Dollhouses at great expense for various purposes."

Matt is a Doll at the New York Dollhouse. Your choice as to whether or not he's still blind: Maybe he signed up for the Dollhouse originally because they said they could repair his sight? Fisk hires Matt to be his adversary, Daredevil. Maybe Foggy, in the years Matt has been at the Dollhouse, became a successful lawyer, and hires Matt to be his old friend, secretly planning to break him out.

Nurse/doctor suspects abuse

Matt gets injured seriously enough that he has to go to the hospital for treatment. One of the doctors or nurses notices all of the healed broken bones and scars and Matt's evasive answers about how he was injured so many times without proper treatment and comes to the conclusion that Matt's suffering from long-term abuse. They try to get him counseling or at least see a therapist about his "relationship problems."

+500 if they think Matt's evasive answers are because he's gay and hiding that fact due to being Catholic.

+1000 they somehow reach the conclusion that Foggy is his abuser and try to keep Foggy from seeing him/giving Foggy the stink-eye and suggesting Matt press charges.

"Your friends talked you into this too?" Matt dryly says, and he hears hair rustling against the man's collar. Long hair, then, smells like hair gel and citrus.

"They didn't talk me into this so much as they signed me up without asking me first," says the guy. "I'm Jon, by the way."

"Matt, but you already knew that." He's been able to judge that the name tag's fairly obvious, from the size of the embossed letters, but he's glad that Jon's at least considerate. "I was supposed to be here for moral support, but the next thing you know, he's signed me up too."

"I know," Jon huffs, and when their three minutes are up Matt's a bit sorry for him to leave, especially since Jon's told him stories about his time on something called the Wall ("cold as balls, but when you're up on top, it's like you can see the end of the world"), and had been gearing up to tell him more when the bell rang.

Oh, well. He's left his number on Matt's paper, and Matt runs his fingers over the paper and smiles a little.

Maybe this won't turn out so bad.

"--so there I was," says the next guy--Gilderoy, apparently, who'd been shocked to hear that Matt had never heard of him, no, really, my good man, you have been robbed, "standing my ground bravely against this utter maniac--the Leapfrog, you may have heard of him--"

Of course Matt's heard of him. He put the guy away last week. Gilderoy didn't do shit, unless you count "hiding in a corner and actively obstructing help" as "doing something".

The bell rings.

"--ah, but there's the time! So sorry to leave you bereft of the ending, dear Matthew, but I'm afraid all good things must come to an end--why are you laughing?"

"Matthew Murdock--what a surprise to see you here."

Matt smiles. He knows that honeyed voice, knows that lilting Spanish accent and the salt-sea scent clinging to her skin. "Isabela," he greets her, when she sits down across from him. "It's a pleasure to meet you again."

"Isn't it always?" Isabela returns. "Shame we've only got three minutes to ourselves. I hear you've made something of a name for yourself."

"I hear you and Hawke started up that shipping business you were talking about back in college," Matt says, and gets an answering chuckle in turn.

"Tell the Daredevil thanks for me and Hawke, for helping with Castillon," she says, her hand pressing gently over his. Her pulse beats steady, her skin warm and fingers calloused from working on a ship. "And tell your partner thanks for signing a fine man such as you up for this."

"I'll be sure to pass on the message to Foggy," says Matt, "though, I wouldn't know about the other one."

"Oh, I'll bet you'll find a way," Isabela says airily, leaning forward to press a kiss against his lips. "Don't you always?" she whispers in his ear, her voice inviting.

Matt swallows.

Matt is a phenomenal architect that has been slowly spiraling downwards despite his excellent reputation ever since the death of his partner (lover?) Foggy -- mostly because his projection of Foggy keeps screwing up every extraction he gets paid to pull-off. Karen is his best friend and point woman, tired of Matt's bullshit in-dream but to good a friend to both Matt and the departed Foggy to let Matt succumb to his demons.

Exiled from New York due to the illegal nature of their dreamsharing activities, Matt and Karen bounce as best as possible from job to job, until one day, Wilson Fisk -- reclusive financier and supposed philanthropist -- approaches Matt and Karen with an impossible heist and an incredible reward: safe passage back into the United States. The job? Plant the seed of sympathy and love towards him inside the mind of Vanessa Marianna, Sotheby's CEO and Art Curator. Fisk claims it's primarily to facilitate a lucrative business venture, but nothing is as clean cut as it appears.

Claire Temple is a promising new architect Prof. Ben Urich pushes Matt and Karen's direction after Karen begs for his help to recruit a new architect to try avoid complications with Foggy, Marci is a world-class forger and the bane of Karen's complicated existence, Brett Mahoney is a talented chemist that Matt trusts implicitly.

I would pay blood money for the inclusion of Madam Gao, Nobu, Wesley, and Father Lantom.

All of the discussion last prompt post was either delightfully funny or deliciously angsty, but I'm greedy so I'm prompting again:

Karen and Foggy (with a stab wound) go looking for Matt after the bombings. Daredevil jumps them because Matt senses Foggy is injured and is freaked. Karen and Foggy are consequently freaked by Daredevil. Karen and Foggy attract the cops, so Matt technically kidnaps them by dragging them into the warehouse where he's got a dying Russian he still needs to interrogate.

Matt's life is hell. Everyone is bleeding (Karen punched him in the face). Matt can't decide if/how to tell them his identity. He just knows he'll be the one paying for morning bagels for the office for the rest of forever.

Repo! Fusion

Never listen to Repo! The Genetic Opera while reading Daredevil fanfics at 2 a.m. Otherwise you get awful plotbunnies. Repo! is a future dystopia where Rotti Largo owns a company called Gene Co., which privatizes organ and cosmetic surgery. He's dying. His children are undeserving brats with definite mental issues. He plans to leave everything to the daughter of the woman he loved and the best friend that betrayed him, since he caused the death of the mother. Also, repossession of organs is perfectly legal.
Anyway, I was listening to the song Gold, which is sung by the character Rotti Largo, and I kept thinking of Fisk, so I came up with two possibilities:
1. Maybe have Daredevil characters in the Repo! universe. Avocados could still easily be Avocados, fighting against unfair treatment from Repo men. Fisk could be a businessman like Rotti, who tries to improve the world in his own way. Etc, etc.
2. Character insertion into the storyline. As said, I can imagine Fisk as Rotti. *Please don't make Matt Blind Mag, their characterizations are completely different.* Maybe Karen? Also could have Vanessa be Marnie, and so on.

Matt really hates hospitals (Matt & Foggy?)

Matt doesn't only avoid hospitals when he has injuries he can't explain. He really hates them because a place with so much illness and death is pure horror for someone with his senses (also his first and only stay in hospital is not connected with very happy memories). So what happens if somebody he cares about is in hospital?
(Foggy after the explosion is an obvious choice but if you want to make something up post-reveal that's great as well. Alternately a '5 times Matt just could not bring himself to visit somebody and one time he did')

I've actually read a few that deal with this or something similar over on AO3. Probably not exactly your prompt, and I wish I had bookmarked them so I could post the links, but maybe you'd like to look around over there?

Matt has FEELINGS about service animals

So I've been seeing really cool prompts about Matt having a service dog and whatnot (that mini horse thing is freaking adorable), but even if he doesn't have a service animal, I'm betting he'd have OPINIONS. There's therapy dogs, and dogs that give people with seizures a bit of warning, and a bunch of other things. But a lot of people make a joke of pretending their pet is a service animal when it really isn't, and a lot of places aren't happy about letting service animals in, and I'm also pretty sure that they can't require that the person tell them why they have a service animal. So given how much all this bothers me, I'm betting that even if he doesn't have a service animal, Matt would definitely be upset by either of those things. So I want to see Matt either getting really annoyed at someone for pretending their dog was a service animal when it isn't, or helping out someone who has a service animal, and is having trouble with an establishment. (If it could be, like, Bucky with a therapy dog, that would make my day.)

There was a long New Yorker article a couple months back about people using the term "service animals" to carry whatever the hell they want around, and most people being unfamiliar about what the law actually permits. It's long, but it's an interesting read. A lot of people were mad when it came out because they didn't want people to be informed about their bullshit.

Gen: Matt shoulder injury

I'm not going to make excuses for loving the Matt whump, and I've always had a thing for shoulder injuries.

What I'm imagining here is Matt getting his shoulder busted up (reason/circumstance up to author) badly enough to have to wear one of those strap-on slings for a while. And priding himself on being very self-sufficient despite his (quasi)blindness, how would he cope? Would he get frustrated because he can't do things? Would he let Foggy and Karen help? Would Claire come over to check on him every now and then? Let your imagination run wild.

(And if you could work the comfort aspect of h/c in there, that'd make it even better.)
