This post is for prompts involving characters from Netflix's Daredevil.

Now that The Defenders prompt post is live, all crossovers between anyone in the four individual shows should go over there. Prompts only including characters that appear in Daredevil should still go here.

With Hell's Kitchen having a long history of being a mixed-bag community in NYC, the most diverse city on Earth, it really isn't implausible. Let's say Jack is still white, but what about his mother, Maggie/Grace/whatever name it is?

The most likely candidates for a non-white racial background in 1980s HK would be latinx (Puerto Rican, Dominican, Cuban, or Mexican), and the beginnings of gentrification led to increasingly diverse waves of people moving in from Chelsea and Harlem—African American (mostly latinx and/or Caribbean), East Asian (Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese), South Asian (Indian, Pakistani, Bhutanese), Pacific Islander (Filipino), etc.

How does this affect Matt growing up? Is he “white-passing” or is he “visibly other”? How has it shaped his life experiences? Did his mother have conflict with his father over their different backgrounds that led to the split? Has he faced rejection from within his mother’s community due to being raised by his white father? How did the nuns take it? What racial prejudices and stereotypes has he had to contend with in his day to day life? Did it make him appear as a bigger token/diversity case (for scholarship+work opportunities)? Has his racial background exposed him more or less to the dark side of police brutality and the legal system? Is Daredevil more of a target?

Anything goes. My sad biracial ass doesn't have time to write this myself, so I leave it to y’all to take this idea and run with it.

It shouldn't bother him as much as it does.

"Black male, 5'10", approximately 170 pounds..."

The description hums on the radio of every cop on the west side of Manhattan, while Matt adjusts his tie and his grip on his cane. It's another layer of misdirection, part of the mask, and yet--

"Señor Matt, ¿de dónde es usted?" Mrs. Cardenas asked, and Matt could've played dumb. He could've made more of an effort to match Karen's careful textbook pronunciations, not to sigh the ends of his syllables like his grandmother when she declared en ellos está el Diablo--

Instead he smiled and said, "Nueva York," and that made her laugh. And yet--

Bess Mahoney cornered them at Elena's funeral and tried to cheer them up. "You did right by her, boys. I told her, Foggy's a smart boy, he'll treat you right. I told her, don't worry about the suits, those white boys are from the neighborhood, they'll take care of you--"

Elektra had said they belonged everywhere precisely because they belonged nowhere. "Exotic, they call us," she whispered in his ear. "Do you know what that means? It means we're so pretty they forget that we're people."

Claire had just run her fingers over his hair--he needed a trim, it was getting long enough to spring back against the pressure. "I think you're the man this city created."

"A mutt, you mean?"

"The great American melting pot," she said wryly. "But that wasn't what I meant and you know it."

"I know what you meant."

He can hear Foggy on the phone as he gets closer to the office; he must be talking to his parents, because his r's and g's fade out and his vowels curl up at the edges. "Ma. Ma. Yeah, I'm coming on Sunday, you don't gotta--yeah, I'll ask Matt, but he is in fact a separate person, he might be doing something. I'll ask him. I just said I'll ask!"

By the time Matt actually gets into the office, Foggy's voice is back to Ivy League standards, because Columbia has a checkbox for first-generation college students but not for working-class accents. (Matt ticked every box on the application; his Ivy League voice got him called articulate.) "You're late, Murdock. That means first round's on you tonight."

"Can I take a rain check?"

"At this point I think you've got enough rain checks to buy the damn bar."

Matt unpacks his laptop and sets up his peripherals; he's got email from the Dominican Bar Association and Metropolitan Black Bar Association, but Bess Mahoney still calls him a nice white boy and he's never been stop-and-frisked when he's wearing a suit.

While he's wearing the suit, he's a black male, 5'10, about 170 pounds.

It shouldn't bother him.

Matt and Cats

I want to see Matt somehow acquire a ton of cats (like +8 at least).
Maybe he kept begrudgingly feeding strays and let them stay? Maybe a client payed them in kittens? Maybe both or some other creative was. I don't know.
Give me Matt and a ton of pet cats!

+ If he somehow keeps it a secret for awhile from Foggy
++ Claire's reaction- because she is allergic and I'm pretty sure Matt doesn't know that.

Friendly Haunting

Ok, just re-read a fill where Matt's apartment is haunted by some evil entity, so, I thought, "Why not have his place be haunted by a NICE ghost?"
You know...one that takes a shine this new blind tenant, and starts to do nice things for him, trying to help (which of course freaks Matt out at 1st, but how long does it take for him to realize its not a threat?) And it eventually gets to the point where this ghost is so fond of Matt, it ends up filling a guardian role.

+Comforting things, like having things a hot cup of tea ready when Matt comes back from a loooooong day at the office, or tucking in blankets, or just little things that make life easier for Matt
+Having the First Aid kit out and ready when he comes back from Daredeviling, and even flat out refusing to let him OUT if Matt's still beat-up
+Going into flat-out Mama Bear (Mama Ghost?) mode when Stick's being Stick and chasing him out
+Maybe Matt can feel it touching him--it feels weird but he knows its not a threat, so he just lets it be
+++++++Or anything else the author can think of???

Matt gets injected with ketamine by someone who wants to take him alive (whether it's as Daredevil or that pesky local lawyer). He has enough time to fight off his attackers before it knocks him out, but not to get to safety...and once he starts to come out of it, he's tripping balls.

How bad are hallucinations for Matt, given his day-to-day sensory sensitivity?

Who finds him first--the bad guys? One of his friends? Some poor innocent bystander?

How do you talk down a terrified, hallucinating vigilante, anyway?

this is a super vague prompt insofar as i have no preferences regarding the who/what/when/where/why/how of it all i'm just looking for literally anything involving matt and nightmares.

is matt having a nightmare? is matt listening to someone else have a nightmare? is someone being comforted after a nightmare? is someone having a nightmare? it college era? before he was blinded? when he was in the orphanage? present day? is the nightmare based in real life? is it completely fantastical? is it drug-induced? magic? i'm down for it all

Seven-year-old Matthew “Matt” Murdock was a brave kid. After all, he was seven now, and that’s like, completely grown up. He’s not a little kid anymore- he is even able to use the glass cups now!
So, he shouldn’t be troubled by little kid things such as nightmares - that was his reasoning anyway.
However, he would soon find that there was no age limit to nightmares. Not even for a seven-year-old.

Matt was having a great day. He got to the prize in his cereal box, his dad didn’t make him comb his hair before school, and he even got a question right in class - which the teacher gave him an awesome dinosaur sticker for. Also, tonight, he was going to get to see one of his dad’s boxing matches in person! This was something he had been looking forward to since, like, forever.
It was nine o’clock that Friday night (past his usual bedtime of eight thirty), and he was practically bouncing in his seat by the ring that his dad got him (because his dad is the best dad ever, all those other kids are liars). The boxers should be coming out any minute now, and he can’t wait to see his dad kick some butt! A man suddenly started speaking into a microphone to announce the fighters. The crowd started cheering. Matt cheered the loudest he possibly could.
“In the Blue Corner, we have Jerry ‘The Juggernaut’ Jones!”
The already cheering crowd increased the volume of their cheering as the man in question stepped out of the doors. Matt, even though he isn’t rooting for him, gives him a cheer too. His dad always said it was bad sportsmanship to ‘boo’ someone, even if you really don’t want them to win. They are trying just as hard as anyone, and it’s not fair to put someone down before they even start.
The crown hushed a bit as the spokesman started talking into the microphone again.
“And in the Red Corner, we have Hell’s Kitchen’s very own ‘Battlin’ Jack’ Murdock!”
The crowd, along with Matt, started cheering again as said boxer entered through another set of doors. Matt was definitely cheering the loudest of them all. After all, that was his dad up there! Matt wanted to make sure he knew that Matt was proud of him.
The boxers got into the ring in their respective corners. They were still until the spokesman announced the start of the match. Once they were given the go, both boxers started at each other like men possessed by the devil himself.
Even through the flurry of fists, Matt kept his eyes glued to his dad the whole time, and screamed cheers until his throat started to hurt. He wanted to make sure his dad knew he was rooting for him.
The fight was a violent, continuous storm of fists, blood, and bruises.
Matt had never been so thrilled before in his entire life.

On the way home, Matt could not have been happier even if someone gave him a million bucks. His dad won, and he got to see it happen live! Matt chattered excitedly about the fight all the way home to his dad, and how awesome it was to see. His dad just smiled and shook his head at his antics.
Once the two of them reached their small apartment, Matt heard the worst thing possible.
“Alright, Matty, it’s way past your bed time. Go get ready for bed, you can shower in the morning.” His dad told him.
“But dad-” he started to protest.
“No, ‘buts’ Matty, you made a promise to me. Remember?” His dad scolded him. “You remember what it was?”
Matt huffed in annoyance before answering in a begrudging tone.
“‘As soon as we get home after the fight, it’s straight to bed.’” He repeated his dad’s earlier words back to him.
“Right, now get to it.” His dad finished with giving him a small nudge in the direction of the bathroom.
Matt continued on. It was clear he lost this round.
After brushing his teeth and putting on some pajamas, Matt was headed off to bed. He fell asleep during his nightly game of putting stories to the sirens screaming throughout the night.

Matt was sitting in Fogwell’s gym. His dad was coming to do some of his usual training, and Matt was seated on his usual bench with a book handy in case he got bored. There was only so long he could watch his dad repeatedly punch a punching-bag before it became monotonous.
He was sitting there for a while before he heard something that made him get up. There was the sound of cheering outside. Matt rose from his bench and exited the gym.
Outside, there was a crowd of people cheering. Curious as to what it was, Matt tried to squeeze through the crowd to see what had everyone so worked up. Once he got through the wall of bodies, Matt did not join them in cheering. He started screaming.
In the midst of the circle of people, were two men fighting. One didn’t even have a scratch, while the other was a mess of black and blue and the red of blood.
That man was his dad.
“Dad!” He yelled and tried to run to him. However, arms of the crowd started pulling him back. The crowd kept cheering.
“Dad! Dad! Daddy!” Matt started wailing and struggling against the forces keeping him away.
His dad didn’t seem to hear him, and only kept fighting. His dad only got more bruises and blood for his efforts, while the other fighter was unharmed no matter how many times he was hit.
Matt continued trying to reach his dad, verbally with his yelling and physically through the mass of people.
This continued until ‘Battlin’ Jack’ Murdock fell to the ground and didn’t get up. The crowd uproared in excitement. Matt did not.
When the crowd had started their cheering up again, Matt felt the forces holding him back give way. He surged forward to his dad and dropped down next to him.
“Dad! Daddy! DADDY!” He yelled at his dad’s still form, and tried to get him to wake up- but he wouldn’t wake up!
Matt continued to try and rouse his dad, until he noticed that his chest wasn’t rising and falling. His dad wasn’t breathing.
He continued to yell in vain, and pleaded for his dad to wake up. Matt registered the sounds of sirens in the background; however, none of them seemed to be getting closer. They sounded like they were going everywhere but here.
The crowd was gone, but Matt remained and kept screaming for his dad. The sirens were getting quieter and quieter, until the only sound remaining was Matt’s sobbing.

Matt awoke with a yell on his lips and a tear soaked face. Breathing raggedly, he tried to stop his tears, but that only seemed to make him cry more. Remembering his dream, he realized that he needed to make sure his dad was ok.
He got out of his bed and crept out the door slowly to make sure it’s hinges didn’t squeak. Noticing the glow of the TV, he started towards the living room where his dad was likely watching a show on the couch. Matt sure he was quiet in his approach.
Now in the living room, he could see his dad laying on the couch. Matt held his breath to make sure he could he the sounds of his dad’s muffled snore. Walking closer to the sleeping silhouette of his dad, Matt could visibly see the relieving telltale rise and fall of his chest indicating breathing. Matt was about to head back to his room when he heard the sound of someone shifting and a tired groan.
“Matt? Wha’ you doin’ up?” Came his dad’s groggy voice from the couch.
Realizing that he was caught, Matt turned around to try and explain why he was out of bed and not sleeping.
At the sight of Matt’s distressed face, his dad was suddenly more alert.
“Matty, what’s wrong?”
“I…I had a bad dream…” He quietly fessed up.
His dad sat up on the couch and gestured for Matt to come sit with him. Matt readily did this.
“Want to tell me what it was about?” His dad asked him.
Debating for a second, Matt then nodded his head and started to reiterate his nightmare.
“I was in the gym waiting for you to practice…but then I heard people outside, so I went to see what it was. You…you were fighting this guy, and there this crowd of people. When I saw what they were ch-cheering for I tried to get to you. Y-you were all beat up…and the other guy was f-fine. You were hitting him over and over…b-but nothing h-happened! Th-then you w-weren’t br-breathing!” Matt said, now full on sobbing by the end.
His dad sighed and pulled him in a side hug.
“I shouldn’t have let you watch the match,” his dad muttered, “part of me figured something like this would happen…”
Matt shook his head at his dad’s words.
“But I liked watching you box!” He protested.
“Yeah, but just because you liked it, doesn’t mean I should’ve let you watch it.” His dad explained. “You’re still a kid, Matty, seeing your old man take some hits is bound to upset anyone. Whether they realize it or not.”
Matt was silent and only scooted closer to his dad. His dad held him closer.
“Well, since I don’t think you’ll be falling asleep anytime soon, you want to watch a little TV with me?”
Matt nodded his head at this, it would make him feel a lot better to be with his dad right now.
“Alright, let’s see what’s on…” His dad started flipping through channels for a show for them to watch.
They eventually settled on a documentary about sharks. It was the only semi-interesting thing on late-night television. His dad made some commentary during the show that made Matt laugh, lifting the post-nightmare sadness.
He fell back asleep next to his dad with the sounds of the TV’s narration of a hammerhead sharks eating habits. The next time he woke up, he was still on the couch, next to the sleeping figure of his dad.

Matt/Foggy, Undercover in a high class sex club

So Matt and Foggy end up undercover in a high class sex club. For different reasons. Foggy was invited by, say, Marci -

('Why the hell are you in a sex club?'

'Marci! She brought me here, but then there was - and I didn't - whatever, I was leaving, why the fuck are you in a sex club? And dressed like that?!')

- while Matt is there as Daredevil, trying to hunt something or someone down. Only it's a sex club, right, and the sound proofing is really, really good, so he had to try and infiltrate the place.

But Matt fucks up somehow and now security is on his tail. Foggy catches sight of him running in the hall, panics, and drags Matt with him through a random door.

Only now they're stuck - they're in a room with no other windows or doors. Security runs by, but then double-backs, checking each room in the hall.

Matt's getting ready to fight, maybe trying to stuff Foggy into a corner to protect him, when Foggy comes up with another plan.

('Strip.'

'what.'

'Take off your clothes! It's a sex club, we're in a private room! Just take that thing off already before they get here!')

And with much cursing, Matt strips. Someone is shoved into a compromising position. And then building security busts through the door.

Foggy throws a fit - they were interrupted, what kind of establishment is this - and actually gets someone in charge to apologize. They even offer Foggy VIP access to the more exclusive rooms upstairs. Very close, in fact, to the rooms Daredevil needs to get to.

So Matt makes Foggy take him upstairs. They'll just bluff their way through, it'll be fine as long as they stay close, it's not like either of them have issues being all up in each other's personal space. (the opposite, really. mutual secret pining, it's the best.)

But it turns out going through these VIP rooms requires a certain level of participation. And the less they do, the more suspicious attention they draw to themselves.

What happens when they're upstairs?

What if she was on a mission and neeeded a long-term cover? Maybe she used him as a way to investigate ties between the Irish and the Yakuza to check on the Hand. Perhaps they purposely pick strong fighters as better breeding stock or something and Jack fit the bill genes-wise. Or she had a one-night stand with him and she decided to dump Matt on him rather than raise him herself. Possibly she was a supporter while not being a member and called Stick in to train her estranged son, etc.

Take the basic concept and run with it. Do whatever you want, go nuts, and have fun with it!

Vanessa/Matt/Fisk, dub-con and coerced/forced pregnancy

I don't care how you work it—mpreg, a/b/o, intersex, trans, genderbend, whatever works. Vanessa is healthy and has aged well, but she's too old to get pregnant safely (Ayelet Zurer is 47, it's hard to get pregnant after you hit your early 40s, much less carry it to term and have the baby come out healthy). They want a child with blood connection (or another child if you feel like having their comics canon kid Richard exist) and Wilson is still in his physical prime, making it a matter of finding the right egg donor and/or surrogate.

Enter Matt/ie Murdock. Young, healthy, intelligent, passionate, and devastatingly gorgeous. Vanessa has been smitten ever since the gallery meeting, and Wilson does have admiration for the lawyer's spirit. A few weeks of research and whispers in the right set of ears, and they have all the information that they need to secure Murdock's cooperation, and soon a request is made that Matt/ie just can't refuse.

Possible ideas:

+ they know about Daredevil
+ Karen and Foggy’s safety is the motivation for her to cooperate
++ Fisk and Vanessa being disturbingly gentle and polite in contrast to their threats
++ they speak about her as if she's a piece of artwork to be critiqued
++ both of them participate in the sex and they take Matt/ie apart between them
+++ all of the controlling behavior and gaslighting
+++ no Stockholm—Matt/ie doesn’t fall in love or trust them
++++ Fisk and Vanessa lavishing attention on the baby bump
++++ Vanessa commissions an artist to use Matt/ie as a model and describing it
+++++ they keep it quiet and it takes months for Foggy and co to realize what’s happened to Matt/ie
++++++ reactions from Foggy/Karen/Brett/Claire/Frank/Elektra/Defenders/etc.
+++++++ Affiliates of the Fisks assuming Matt/ie is their “sugar baby”

Matt and his enses

One day Matt and Foggy are sitting in Matt's living room, drinking some beer and Foggy gets curios and ask how deep Matt senses work.
How was it when he first got sick or stitching up his dad, when he noticed someone didnt take a shower or smells in general, what he can feel when he touches something.

It goes from there to more intimate question on how was hsi first time give that Foggy supposes that with hsis enses and hwo sensitive he is. It must have been really hard for him.

If you want to scalte things you can do it but im happy with Matt telling anecdotes about him and of course Matt gets to ask intimate questions too.

Matt/Frank, trapped in the perfect dream

Magic/inception/something happens, Frank ends up stuck in his "ideal" world. Matt goes into the dreamscape too to save him, but has difficulties doing it. He can't convince Frank the world is fake or he just can't bring himself to tell him. Maybe Frank, deep down, knows that it's not real but doesn't care. Show me his family, his happiness, what he could've had, what he'd lost. Does Frank recognize Matt when he shows up? Do they fight? (Probably, yeah.) Who wins? (Is there really a winner in this situation?) Does the dreamscape break down around them, trying to trap them in? Does Frank ever wake up at all?

(You can write it as Matt being in his perfect world and Frank trying to get him out if you prefer. Or, hell, maybe they're both stuck in a shared dream and figure out it's fake together. Just break my heart. I hope you fix it too, but I'd be happy with anything!!)

Matt Murdock, Mock Trial Attorney-Coach

So in high school mock trial, there's always at least one "attorney coach", a real lawyer who helps the kids put together their arguments. What I want is this: Matt Murdock, Mock Trial Coach. Give me Matt in a room full of high schoolers, trying to assemble them into a team of semi-passable lawyers and witnesses.
-+1: How did he get dragged into this? Does a former client's kid have a newfound interest in law? Did Peter Parker's school need a new mock trial coach? It's up to you.
-+10: THE DRAMA KIDS. All mock trial teams have them, since a lot of the same skills are involved. Do they remind Matt of Foggy?
-+100: Accuracy. Information on high school mock trial can be found on the New York Bar Foundation website.
-+1000: All this goes down post-season 2, and it helps Matt fill the gaping void in his life.

Noticed my prompt didn't get filled from Round #5, so let me just casually repost it.

I tend to see a lot of Matt/Foggy fics describing how much Foggy loves Matt's body (which, c'mon, who wouldn't), but rarely do I ever see Matt/Foggy fics that not only address Foggy's weight, but shows Matt pining after him for it.

Basically, I just want a fic where Matt can't keep his hands off of Foggy and his beautiful flub. Maybe it has something to do with Matt's senses, where he prefers the suppleness of Foggy's body compared to the hard lines of the dudes and ladies he's been with in the past -- after all, Foggy's got a lot to love to give, and Matt can't wait to sink his teeth into every inch.

Whatever your choice of circumstance but there's a trapped child in danger. There is no feasible way to save the child.

For all that the heroes want to save or hell the situation they've logically know they can't. This includes Matt who despite his stupid wrecklessnes isn't suicidal.

So he has to stand by and let him/her die.

Hear the heart beat stop.

Most deaths aren't quick even if consciousness isn't present.

Lately, I've read a lot of Avenger crossovers, where Foggy befriends other superheroes, cause being an awesome friend is his super-power. Then, my brain missed that left turn at Albuquerque, and I replaced "Foggy" with "Matt" and "superheroes" with "supervillians".

Give me crack, drama, action, or whatever. I just want to see Matt Murdock, Human Disaster, accidently befriending various super-powered villains. No identity-reveal; think it would be hilarious for them to be overprotective of poor blind Matt, and him like face-palming at them.

Bonus if Foggy is befriending the Avengers at the same time, which leads to an epic battle between the two groups over whose allowed to be whose friend.

Double bonus if the above ends in a glorified custody battle, with Nelson & Murdock acting as the lawyers negotiating.

The world if Stick keeps getting all of these visits, and he doesn't know why they're happening, but he blames Matt.

Matt/Foggy Post S2 Foggy works himself into illness

I've read a lot of great post S2 stories where Matt is depressed and adrift without Foggy. What I'd like to see is a post season 2 story where Foggy is really depressed about losing his friend (who has been carrying a torch for for years), and throws himself recklessly into his new job, pretty much neglecting everything else to try and forget the pain of emptiness of not having Matt in his life. He's barely eating or sleeping, and unsurprisingly he works himself into exhaustion/illness.

Matt finds out, (he's still Foggy's emergency contact and gets a call when Foggy's hospitalized because it's gotten that bad? Marci calls him because she sees what's happening and she's worried? Matt engages in some stalking because he misses Foggy too, and realizes he's not well?), and is angry and sad and worried. He left to keep Foggy safe, (because he love him too, and could bear to see him hurt. He also didn't think Foggy felt the same, and he couldn't take the weight of his disappointment Foggy kept expressing over his nocturnal hobby), not to hurt him so badly he literally became physically ill.

Give me lots of love and reconciliation initiated by a moment of panic over Matt realizing Foggy is hurt and sick.

I've only ever seen it done with Matt as a guy. Which is definitely awesome and I love it because it's my guilty pleasure pairing. But I'd love to see the power couple of Kingpin and his lady love dealing with Mathilda Mikaela Murdock, the sightless spitfire whom we all know and love. So let's try it with Mattie instead and see how the dice rolls, shall we?

Do it however you want. Multiple methods encouraged. Any point in the timeline works—pre-season one, during season one, between seasons, season two, after season two, whatever. You want a fluffy nobody-dies thing with affably evil or grayscale good Vanessa and Wilson? Sure! Slow seduction with or without the knowledge of Daredevil's identity? Go for it! Capturing the Bitch in Black/She-Devil and putting her in her place? Sounds delicious! Blackmailing her into their service and eventually their bed as a lawyer and/or vigilante? Oo-la-la! Historical fiction setting? Sounds fun. Noir setting? Go nuts! Cyberpunk adventure? Cool! Space opera or Star Wars AU? Looks fun! Slave-verse with them purchasing Mattie as a pet/bedwarmer/childminder/house slave/lawyer/bodyguard/assassin (I've seen all of those suggested before with dude!Matt)? Would be interesting...

Anything goes and I hope that any potential fillers thoroughly enjoy playing with the idea! I'm a busy bee with uni restarting, so I don't have the time to fill any of these right now, so I hope that someone/s will find the plotbunnies inspiring.

So by now I'm sure most/all of you have seen stuff about that EW Defenders interview. And in one part, Charlie Cox seems to imply that Matt hasn't been doing Daredevil Things after the end of season two. But why? And what is he doing with all this time? These are answers I need. Angst welcome!

Stick was preparing Matt to be a vessel, but started liking him too much to finish. Unfortunately the devil's taken an interest, and is working on subtly corrupting Matt enough to take over. Whether Matt is aware of this or when he becomes aware is up to you.
The kink here is mental torture. Matt suffering. Bonus for things like church being physically painful for him but he goes anyway to get away from the voice in his head. I'm a-okay with an unhappy ending.

You know how the Tenth Doctor would sometimes lick a thing and then announce something about its composition or origins?

Matt can probably do that.

Out of all his senses, taste doesn't seem to get much love in fanfic, and especially not as something that's useful for Daredeviling. So give me Matt sticking something in his mouth that does not belong in his mouth in order to hyper-taste it. Maybe he's trying to identify a substance, or looking for minute traces of evidence. Maybe he can do the Sherlock Holmes thing where he can tell apart dirt from different neighborhoods or the brand of a cigarette by the ash it leaves behind.

Of course, to anyone watching him do this (especially if they don't know about his senses, ESPECIALLY if he's not in the suit) this looks fucking weird.

I haven't seen one yet and they are all so good, with the angst of Matt not specifically being able to recognize the marks like everyone else does. It takes him a little while to register quite what's happening. At first he thinks it's just another one of the ninjas they'd been fighting, but that's not right- the guy is significantly older, first off. And then there's the fact that he's also blind, which can't be a coincidence.

Also whatever it is he's hissing at Red while they fight is clearly born of someone who knows the guy, knows how to rile him up. Because Red is doing his damndest to tear this guy a new one, not that it's sticking. Guy is awful spry for someone upwards of fifty. He probably should be leaving the scene before the cops get alerted, but as much as they run into eachother, and even work with each other now, he still doesn't really know anything about Red. So he waits at a distance, watching, cataloguing the similarities in the way they fight, the angry sounds Red makes only when the fight is personal.

It doesn't take long for the fight to burn out of him though, whether it's because of how evenly matched they are (which should surprise Frank, but they spent the last week fighting Red's dead girlfriend, so he's burnt out on surprises), or whatever it is the guy is saying to Red, he stops dead, lowers his fists. His head twitches towards Frank and the old guy does the same, lowering the stick he'd been fighting with.

"Who's your friend?" Red growls at that, fists twitching.

"No one you need to know about." But the guy just scoffs, shrugs.

"It's your funeral. For every relationship you drop, you gain three more. You crave attention, and that's why you could never be as good as--" Daredevil cuts him off with a move Frank's not eyes don't quite register, it's so fast. It ends with Red holding his billy club to the man's throat, up against the wall.

"Don't you say her name! You don't ever get to say her name." His voice is rough and hurt and Red is always closest to crossing that line when it comes to that ex of his, and god help him, Frank feels like he should pull him back from it.

"Hey Red, I don't know if you noticed, but there's at least three sirens heading our way, so we should probably get moving." He calls from his position a dozen feet away.

"Go on Matt, go with your friend." The old guy laughs, nasty. "I could never train that neediness out of you, could I? I pushed you as hard as I could, and physical pain you could take, but you've always been too emotional. I thought you'd gotten it, that you were ready, but then there you were, with that damned bracelet. Trying to make me your new daddy. Goddamn useless."

Red's breathing is quick and shallow, his body otherwise preternaturally still, and Frank can't tell if he's angry or upset or a painful combination of both. But his brain is working through the words he's just heard, adding up the little information Red has given him about his life, his training, and now- this. This old man who talks to the Daredevil like he's a child, who has some sort of emotional hold over him, as much as Red clearly hates it. Frank adds two and two together, and comes up with an answer he wish he hadn't. Because Red is not going to be happy.

"Hey, Red." He calls, sliding a knife from one holster, and his gun from the other, thumbing back the hammer as raises it. "Duck."
