Because it's really sad the timeline logistics alone would prevent this from happening in canon: When the public learns about Phil Coulson and word gets out about his high-tech arms, Danny decides to see if whoever designed it is willing to Misty at least one; she works with superheroes too, after all. It takes him a while to get the name Leo Fitz, the whole LMD/outer space saga leaves him beyond reach for a while, and when Rand finally gets an audience he and Jemma Simmons are both still recovering emotionally, but they're willing to do it, and together they design Misty a lovely, kick-ass bionic arm.

Danmy coming to terms with Bisexuality.

So Danny is attracted to both men and women.Somthimg he heavily repressed because he was raised up a mountain by homophobic religious weirdos.He thinks that:

A. Its dirtybadwrong.
B. If he tells Coleen it will end their relationship.
C.That the defenders will hate him
D. That sex with a man must be a painful, humiliating experience.

In short he's terrified by the whole concept.

He has a breakdown and the others help him accept himself. Bonus if ( With Coleen's say so) Matt and Luke help him experiment in a way that doesn't terrify the life out of him.

Considering the monks beat him whenever he 'failed'a training test and he was called Outsider pretty much the whole time he was there then him repressing parts of himself is completely understandable. He would have done what ever he could to avoid another beating and not stand out anymore.

Defenders reacting to Danny's time in the monastery

Danny is telling the other Defenders about his time in the monastery and they are wondering about how he doesn't realize how abusive it was. They are disturbed by how much fondness he seems to have for it. Then they are trying to get him to understand it was very abusive.

Omg I know right? Other people have mentioned it being abusive before but Danny just plays it off. I'm pretty sure he's suffering from Stockholm Syndrome or something. And that's why he struggles to control his emotions, because he never had a safe and healthy outlet for them before. Especially since he was taught that emotions are distractions that interfere with your focus.

I need the other defenders convincing him that what they did was abuse. And that he's allowed to be angry at them for it.

My kink is team bonding. I just really wanna see more fics of the whole team whether deliberate or not being in each others lives. Matt, Jessica, Luke and Danny all working together and hanging out and bonding you know. Seeing the four of them meeting and then growing closer was my favourite part of the Defenders.

[kinda domestic fill, but meh. Sorry no beta :( ]

“Aren't you rich? Couldn't we just order fancy Italian food? Or just pizza?” Jessica's half a bottle of wine in before she decides to intrude in on the 'kitchen squad' and their first time attempt to make a meal that's anything more complicated than hamburger helper.

She refuses to cook, it's not her thing, even if she's a hundred percent sure she's more capable in a kitchen than some hipster from a hidden city and a blind man that can't even distinguish the difference between the salt and pepper grinders. (He can, she knows, he's weird like that.)

Nothing smells burned yet, but Danny's made a serious of disconcerting noises that make her think that something's gone wrong somewhere, despite Luke's low indiscernible but reassuring murmurs towards the blond.

It's kinda funny to see, actually, the three of them crammed into Matt's kitchen, each in aprons, which Danny insisted on-- and while they protested at the time, there's enough sauce and flour splattered across them that they're all grateful in retrospect.

“Those are the words of a Hangry woman.” Matt lifts a hand to his mouth, directing the words towards Luke as if Jessica couldn't hear him. Luke just snorts and continues the slow, tedious process of hand-rolling meatballs, plopping them one by one into the simmering sauce.

Danny, however, responds to the protest with a frown. “Come on Jess, it's totally worth the wait. When's the last time you had a home-cooked meal anyway?”

She hates that she doesn't bristle when the kid calls her 'Jess', and that he's right, it's been a long time since she's she's sat down to a meal that didn't come from the nearest take-out place or came wrapped in plastic at a local convenience store.

“Who cares?” It holds a lot less venom than she means for, and it leaves her exhaling a sigh. Ugh, they're wearing her down. She can only eye Murdock warily as he comes around the counter to offer her a spoonful of (did they really have to make it from scratch?) tomato sauce, his hand is steady but he lets her lean in to taste it if she wants. She does, begrudgingly and – fuck them all, it's actually good.

“Well?” Matt's waiting, and of course the bastard already knows it's amazing, he probably knew how to add each ingredient to perfection from his sense of smell like that damn rat from that cartoon that she only watched that one time because there was nothing else on.

“It's actually pretty good.” she concedes, leaning back to lick her lips. She'll give them this one little victory, her scowl only half-hearted at Danny's stupid sun-shine bright smile of victory. Matt's smile is more of an 'I told you so' smirk, so she just ignores him, pouring herself another glass of wine because she's feeling classy enough not to drink out of the bottle tonight.

Luke doesn't react beyond plopping another meatball into the sauce, but she can feel the sense of smugness radiating off of him regardless. Bastard.

“I'm going to see if there's any movies on.” She announces in an effort to escape, still a little surprised that Matt even owns a TV, but that might be Danny's doing. It looks pretty fresh out of the box and bigger than a blind man who can't even seen the screen probably needs. Sure, there's the news and shit, but there's already the internet for that.

The couch sinks under her weight and she's a little surprised with how comfortable it is, granted it doesn't really match the rest of Matt's décor, and again she's left wondering why a blind man even has décor in the first place. Like, paintings? Really? Either he entertains a lot of guests or has friends that fancy themselves would-be decorators.

They probably shouldn't quit their day jobs.

“Okay what's the vote?” It's easier to open Netflix than flip through channels, so she does, and not just because she's a little curious to see Murdock's movie history. The TV's set up for the visually impaired, so every time she flips through it cheerfully announces the title of the show. Somehow she's not surprised that the last few are boring documentaries. But everyone needs something to put them to sleep she guesses. There's a few action movies and kung-fu flicks before that and she's only the tiniest bit jealous that they've been watching garbage movies with out her. Not that she'd accept the invite, but STILL, they should have asked.

No one really answers past a few 'you pick' or 'whatever' and an 'I don't care.” So she flips through to find that movie about the stupid fighting Panda, if only to rib on Danny a little, and oh Jesus they made THREE of them?

The intro has barely started before Luke's deep laughter rolls from the kitchen, and Matt's follows briefly, followed but a curious “What?” from Danny before he peers out of the kitchen to investigate.

His barked out laugh nearly makes her smile, but she stifles it down in favor of taking another swig from her wine glass.

He joins her after a few more minutes in the kitchen, sitting too close and she thinks to protest, but he's warm and smells like fresh oregano and sweet basil so she allows it, only huffing out a sound when Matt follows to crowd in on her other side while Luke lingers in the kitchen to man the simmering sauce and spaghetti. The notion is surprisingly warm and domestic, leaving her to fight the warm and fuzzy feeling swelling in her chest.

Thankfully Danny ruins it by stating, unnecessarily, that there were no panda's in K'un-Lun, though he thankfully has no further critique on the movie, instead he seems fully absorbed after a few minutes.

Matt, of course, is just listening, his head tilted back against the back rest, and she has to wonder if he's focused in on the movie or on the people surrounding him, either way there's a tranquil kind of expression that she's never quite seen before.

The movie's half over by the time Luke announces that dinner's ready, and Jess gets up to wander in, followed by Matt, Danny's still engrossed in the movie and she's pretty sure she's never seen him neglect food before, but from the look on his face, something must be hitting pretty close to home-- and she tries to roll the plot over in her head; an outsider doing the unexpected. Accomplishing greatness despite adversity. She gets it-- she just didn't expect a kid's movie to motivate her sudden epiphany about Danny Rand.

“Huh.” She looks over and Matt is smiling, as if he was waiting for it, even while he loads up his plate, like he can read Jessica like a damn book and she curses under her breath.

“Hey come on, food's ready.” She sets her own plate down to cross over, leaning over the couch to fold her arms around Danny's shoulders so she can rest her chin atop of his head, his hair surprisingly soft, tickling under her chin. And she can blame the affectionate gesture on being tipsy, and not because he probably needs it. Either way he doesn't comment, just tips his head slightly and smiles.

She can feel Luke's approving gaze boring into her and hates it, but loves it at the same time. She shouldn't care what he thinks.

“Got it.” He pauses the movie so they can all reconvene at the kitchen table, and Luke makes sure their plates are piled high; spaghetti and meatballs, cheesy garlic bread, and salad (because, again, Danny insisted) It's simple and comforting and maybe the best Jessica has ever had, and the quiet that blankets the room as they eat seem to agree, not because they have nothing to talk about-- but because they're too busy stuffing their mouths like they'd never see a meal again.

“This was nice, guys.” Danny's the first to speak up, picking the crust off of his bread first, leaving the soft center to sop up some of the sauce on his plate, he's already onto his second helping and Jessica has to wonder where he puts it all, the kid's still practically a beanpole.

“It was.” Luke agrees from across the table, voice just as comforting as the meal laid out before them, it seems to go hand in hand, and Jess relaxes a little more, allowing herself to enjoy the moment for once.

“We should do it more often.” Matt adds, and maybe he's the last person to suggest it, well, second to last, but she was thinking it, if wistfully so. She'll resist it, sure, make excuses to avoid it, maybe even neglect to show up altogether, but when she's here, with them, it really is nice.

And she really could use a little more 'nice' in her life.

Trish and Daredevil

Trish somehow manages to pin Daredevil down long enough after he arrives to back up Jessica and starts to grill him.

Jessica enjoys the show as Matt dances around and tries to avoid answering questions.

Where was Brett Mahoney during The Defenders? I'm interested in a version of events where Brett was Misty's supervisor, giving the heroes another police contact to trust, since Brett knows what the Hand are capable of.

Jessica & Matt are Very Good for each other

Did anyone else notice how good their dinamic was? When the initial meet&greet is, Jessica becomes outright civil and respectfull. She even apologizes for 'forgetting he's blind' slip ups. She looks at him with light in her eyes, Matt is a mistery, and there's nothing she loves more then a good mistery. Matt is very cool and accepting, so he won't judge her, be it for her cursing, or alcoholism, or overall drama. Jessica doesn't admit it, but she needs someone to respect, a good role model, who wouldn't put her down if she's not perfect while being good in a way that can inspire her. At the same time, Jessica is great at reading people, knowing when to stay quiet or call them out on their bull****, which is exectly what Matt needs, especially when he's having so much truble accepting everything that heppend recently. He doesn't know how to express himself, or ask for help... but with Jessica, he doesn't have to.
So, I'd really like it if someone could explore their relationship post-defenders season 1, after Matt is back. I imagine it as a really deep frienship, but shipping them works for me, too.

Bonuses:
1) They drink together a few times a week. At first, Luck/Danny is concerned about Jessica's alcoholism, but then he notices that actually... he hasn't seen her drunk outside those outings in months. Instead of using drinkig to forget her loneliness, depression and a million other issues, she relaxes with Matt and actually TALKS to him, helping him deal with his own shit too. So, whenever she's feeling badly in-between, she can think 'I'm not ok, but whatever, I'll complain to Murdock about that later' and cope that way.
2) There are two things Matt needs the most: stability and understanding. Understanding people is Jessica's speciality, and it leaves Matt feeling a little exposed, but... flattered and warm inside, that she wants to know all about him. Stability is a little harder. Jessica's been known to try and leave when things get hard for her, but she's trying. very. hard. Because she's a good person and cares so. much. Everyone in Matt's life left him when he failed to meet some kind of expectation, so it's very catharsic for him that Jessica would curse at him, throw something, storm off for an hour, etc... but in the end, she stays.
3) Jessica doesn't like commanding men who expect to be folowed and obeyed. Matt is a godsent, since, outside emergency 'run-becouse-I-said-so-no-time-to-explain' situations, he doesn't order people around. Jessica needs to feel in control, to be able to follow her own direction, and Matt... Matt has a type. He liked being pushed around, just as long as it's a game, a pretence and not real subordination. The other defenders stare when Matt, high strung, scared and/or angry, paces like a caged lion, then Jessica says 'Sit the f*** down, Matt' and he deflates, just like that. Not because he obeys her, but because he *likes* listening to her. She makes him feel better.
4) Jessica doesn't like being touched. Usually. Mostly. Doesn't mean she doesn't want or need a hug, she just can't deal with it being imposed on her. Matt will always be the one to ask for contact, wheither it's asking to lead him by the elbow, raisig his hand for a high five, or opening his arms when he wants a hug, so Jessica can always take a breath and decide if she's up for it. Under his facade, Matt is very tactile, so she slowly lerns to be, too.
5) Bonding on self-deprecation, self-destructive tendencies, messed up relationships, shitty childhoods, etc. They don't really mock each other for fear of accidentally hurting the other, but they mock themselves together. Cinism and dark humour help them get over any rough moments.
6) Mutual respect. Jessica is a bit awed by daredivil and Matt both. Matt overlooks all her problems and sees the strong survivior underneath.

A snap blizzard traps the Defenders in a small space for longer than they'd like and a power outage forces them to share body heat. Luke's the only one with any real living with other people/sharing a bed experience.

Matt destroyed The Hand. Danny doesn't know how to feel

So, it's pretty obvious that, in comparison to the other defenders, Danny is immature and laking expirience. It's not a surprise that, whatever his intentions, he didn't really contribute that much to the destruction of the Hand. In fact, as far as I can see, Matt made the most difference. He was th one who convinced Electra to get free, made her remember who she was, and then made sure the others would get out alive.
I don't think that would be as easy for him to process as the show wants us to think. And in addition, he feels he has to step into Daredevil's shoes - the same man who had just proven to bee larger then life and 100% everything Danny wishes he could be, but isn't, not yet. That's an awfull lot of pressure.
I wanna see a fic exploring how Danny would go about realizing Matt's last wish, trying to not to lose himself in his shadow. I predict:
Danny torturing himself about being NOT GOOD ENOUGH
Guilt about Matt's death, 'he wouldn't have been there if not for me'
Increasing desperation about protecting Hell's kitchen in DD's place, being unable to do the same things as Matt, like know where to go to stop crime, because he doesn't have super sences, etc.
A loud shouting match with Luke including something like 'Would you stop being so stupid and recless? You're putting people in danger!' 'I KNOW, ok? I know I'm not him! I'm too stupid to save anyone! You don't have to remind me!'
Breakedown, Hurt/comfort, everyone finally grieving together.

To be fair, there are a fair amount of vaccinations before ten years old, but he would've missed all the adolescent and early adulthood vaccinations and maybe had some lapsed doses, plus he'd probably be high risk enough (travel outside the country/having lived outside the country for fifteen years) that he'd have to receive a bunch of booster shots, and I'm not sure if there would actually be previous documentation of his vaccinations anymore. Basically, yeah, he needs a lot of vaccinations. That's so unpleasant.

I can just imagine the amount of times everyone would have to hear Danny's most Airtight Argument Ever ('I AM THE IMMORTAL IRON FIST') in response to vaccinations, because no one likes getting vaccinated AND I'm sure he would be affronted--very affronted!!!--that Claire somehow thinks he needs them. Because he's the Immortal Iron Fist.

Also, getting the Defenders health histories would be some A+ dark comedy.

Rewrite: The scene between Matt and Karen at the Bulletin went on longer

I keep thinking there must be some scenes that were cut or trimmed extensively for timing purposes in The Defenders.

Where I get this idea is the scene in "Take Shelter" when Matt goes to the Bulletin to warn Karen that the Hand are back. This scene, I think, was meant to be a bit longer or was going to be longer. Because there's a production image of the scene on a few websites that depicts a moment that we never saw in the actual show (http://whatculture.com/tv/marvels-the-defenders-10-ways-it-sets-up-daredevil-season-3?page=8): the picture shows Matt sitting down in the chair opposite Karen, when in the actual show he's standing for the entire scene and only goes near the chair to assist Karen with her coat. In the picture, Matt also has his glasses off and in the show, he has his glasses on for the entire scene.

This gives me the impression that the scene between Matt and Karen at the Bulletin was going to be longer and some part of it was cut out for whatever reason. And it just makes me curious to know what else was said in the longer version.

If someone wants to do a fill that would explore what this "longer version" might have had, I'd be very thankful.

So homeschooled by celibate monks Danny Rand knows nothing about sex. In a technical sense. One day he says something really shockingly naivé about biology or whatever ( ie, doesn't know what periods are/ doesn't know what gay sex is.) and gets made fun of. He's humiliated and ashamed of his ignorance. But Matt helps him out with a medical encyclopedia and some guy talk. Because Matt was just like him once. ( Ie educated by celibate monks/nuns.) But he had Foggy.

Luke actually aknowleges Jessica's innocence.

Yes, I'd love this!!! Luke's anger was understandable, but I just want to see where the forgiveness came from and have him and Jessica actually talk about it.

ok so I was bitter about how literally everyone treated matt in the defenders. Like I get that he messed up but he was trying and nobody was satisfied with him. He tried not to fight and the defenders got angry with him. He got into the fight because he had no choice and Foggy and Karen were giving him grief on it. Then the thing with Elecktra and his ptsd and trauma.

But anyway I just want a fic where everyone is on his case about everything and Matt just breaks down. He's done and he can't deal with their shit and has like a mental breakdown or panic attack. And then everyone is just like "oh shit" and feels really guilty.

Additions: If he apologizes for not being good enough during his breakdown
If they realize just how deep Matt's self-loathing goes
If Frank comes and tears them a new one for driving matt this far
If Frank brings him down from his panic attack or mental breakdown
If Foggy and Karen realize how unsupportive they have been
Hugs and comfort from everyone and telling Matt that he is good enough and that he is not a monster

Just do whatever really! I just want Matt finally having enough of everyone bogging him down and telling him that he is a bad person or an addict and just everyone realizing how hard they have been on him (specifically foggy and karen)

The Defenders are exposed to some kind of toxin and have to pile naked into the Dojo shower together. Not in a sexy way. In a " help me scrub this poison off" kind of way. Awkward for all concerned, especially Jessica.

Everyone's protective of Matt

Ok did anyone else notice that in some of the shots of the Defenders, Matt seemed to be the smallest one? Even tho I'm pretty sure he is taller than Jessica, there were some scenes where he seemed to be the shortest out of the four.

I would like to see the rest of the Defenders seeing him as a smol fragile bean and getting super protective of him when he is both daredevil and Matt Murdock.

Additions: Matt is oblivious to their protectiveness and is super confused
Frank joins the protect Matt squad
Matt finding out and being super confused on why anyone would care about him
The Defenders talk to foggy and Karen on how daredevil is not an addiction and they need to be supportive instead of constantly disapproving
