Defenders-only Discussion Post

This post is for prompts involving everyone in Netflix's The Defenders! Crossovers between anyone in the four individual shows should go here. Prompts only including characters from one show should still go on the relevant show prompt post.

Rules:
  • General
    1. YKINMKATO. Play nice. If you don't like something, scroll on.

    2. All comments must be anon. If you would like to be politely banned to avoid anon-failing, leave a logged-in comment on the mod post or pm the mod account.

    3. Subject lines should only be changed if you're posting a prompt or a fill (indicators like OP or Author!Anon should go in the body of the comment).

    4. RPF is allowed. Crossovers, characters from the extended Marvel Universe and comics canon are allowed, but must relate to the 2017 TV show in some way.

    5. Drop a comment on the mod post if you have any questions or problems.

  • Prompts
    1. All types of prompts are welcome.

    2. Use the subject line for the main idea of your prompt (pairing or characters, keywords, kink).

    3. Warnings are nice, but not mandatory. Get DW Blocker if there's anything you really don't want to see.

  • Fills
    1. Put [FILL] or something similar in the subject line when posting a fill.

    2. Announce your fill on either the Completed Fills Post or the WIP Post.

    3. Long fills can either be posted over multiple comments, or posted on AO3 and linked back here.

    4. Multiple fills are always okay.

    5. Fills can be anything! Fic, art and vids are all welcome.

  • Please post any prompts related to Season 2 of Punisher over on the dedicated Punisher prompt post, and put SPOILERS in the subject line!

Gen/any, Danny is accidentally an anti-vax poster boy

Claire tries to get the Defenders health histories and realises Danny missed a bunch of childhood vaccinations.

To be fair, there are a fair amount of vaccinations before ten years old, but he would've missed all the adolescent and early adulthood vaccinations and maybe had some lapsed doses, plus he'd probably be high risk enough (travel outside the country/having lived outside the country for fifteen years) that he'd have to receive a bunch of booster shots, and I'm not sure if there would actually be previous documentation of his vaccinations anymore. Basically, yeah, he needs a lot of vaccinations. That's so unpleasant.

I can just imagine the amount of times everyone would have to hear Danny's most Airtight Argument Ever ('I AM THE IMMORTAL IRON FIST') in response to vaccinations, because no one likes getting vaccinated AND I'm sure he would be affronted--very affronted!!!--that Claire somehow thinks he needs them. Because he's the Immortal Iron Fist.

Also, getting the Defenders health histories would be some A+ dark comedy.

I'm down with this idea.

But also, to be fair, if you follow the comic he really doesn't have much to worry about as far as sickness and disease go. Benefit of being fueled by the chi of an immortal god-dragon I guess.

AYRT

I'm not a comics person, so I go by what I see on the Netflixverse, and there's not much to say that he can't get sick in the Netflixverse other than the Insane Troll Logic that his entire powers are based on, which, tbh, makes the idea that he doesn't really get sick pretty possible/probably.

...But it's still pretty funny that 'I am the Immortal Iron Fist' actually CAN be an excuse for some things, because it makes the whole thing infinitely more frustrating for everyone other than Danny and his Immortal Smugness, but going by the Netflixverse I'm figuring that it's not ridiculous to ASSUME that he still has the ability to get sick, even if he actually doesn't. So immunizations would probably be a good idea, especially if he can still be a carrier/get only a little sick but pass on whatever it is to other people, who could get far more sick. Or if Immortal God-Dragon Immunization doesn't necessarily hit all illnesses all the time and, idk, there's some random stuff that can knock him flat.

Basically, at the very least I feel that even if what *I* wrote was a stretch, the prompt/the idea he should get immunized jic is a legit, canon-compliant premise.

NA

Let me just add to that, even if Danny *really* doesn't get sick, there's no way for Claire and the others to know that, so it would hardly finish any arguments. I'm sure Danny would argue that he doesn't get sick (just like in the prompt), but in reality there doesn't seem to be a way for him to know for sure either (how much does he *really* know about what he is? doesn't seem like a lot).

And even if he did, he hasn't given the rest much of a reason to treat him seriously and believe that he knows what he's talking about.

Exactly. I mean...he didn't even know the Iron Fist could heal people.

"Getting the other Defenders' health histories"

Yes, because Matt and Jessica are the paragon of health.

Not OP

Well, I mean...the prompt isn't saying that they are? It's just saying that Danny specifically wouldn't have gotten a bunch of vaccinations because of his particular circumstances. There's no reason to believe that Matt and Jessica, who both grew up with access to vaccinations, wouldn't have gotten them.

And honestly, Claire getting the Defenders' health histories is some prime fic material.

Or, alternately, Danny becoming a pro-vax poster boy .. for the HPV vaccine. Which he got for some reason.
