RPF is allowed. Crossovers, characters from the extended Marvel Universe and comics canon are allowed, but must relate to the 2015 TV show in some way.

Prompts focusing on characters from Jessica Jones should go on the Jessica Jones Prompt Post, but crossovers with Daredevil can go on either post.

Prompts that are exclusively about the comics should go on the Comics Prompt Post.

Maria Castle was convicted and sentenced, and Karen knew that was wrong. There was something about the trial that wasn't right, and it ate at her heart. She knew, for a fact, that Maria had thrown her own trial, but what was her ultimate goal.

"The ultimate goal was always vengeance," Karen whispered, thinking about the photograph that was burned into the back of her mind. That was who Maria was and what she survived for. "She wants her revenge, and she's going to get it."

Karen thought, for a moment, about what she would do. She could have been Maria had her life situation been different. Anyone could.

"I think I'd have done the same if I had the skill," she said aloud, to an empty room. The idea was heartbreaking, to say the least. Those closest to her -- Foggy, Matt -- they wouldn't go to the lengths Maria Castle did. Why did she feel any different?

Also, she knew that the story was far from over. She had seen the look on Maria's face as she'd been sentenced. She was never going to walk into that prison, and accept her fate.

It wasn't over.

Karen wasn't surprised when that assertion was proven true, two weeks after Castle's initial conviction and sentencing.

Karen couldn't help the tiny little thrill that hit when she realized that Maria had escaped. She hated herself for it, but she understood why she felt the way that she did. Maria was someone who was out there, doing good, and not giving the slightest care to the details. She didn't care about anything except getting revenge on the bastards who were out there to hurt people.

Karen wasn't quite sure she liked this revelation about herself. She was supposed to be one of the good guys. Castle was...not.

It took Karen a month to stop feeling conflicted about Maria Castle. She accepted, at that time, that the woman inspired strange feelings in her. It was nothing less, nothing more and none of her goddamned business.

Her thoughts about Maria had almost faded entirely in two more months time. They came crashing back, though, when Maria saved her from gunfire.

She pulled Karen out of the middle of the attack, looking at her with intense, dark eyes that had a fire behind them.

Karen couldn't speak for a moment, and when she could, the only words that she could think of were the simplest ones.

"Thank you," she whispered.

"Don't thank me."

Then, she was gone.

Karen couldn't help the fact that Maria had completely and utterly captured her mind, her complete attention. It was a sickness, and she resented herself for feeling the way that she did.

"You're never going to get what you want," Matt said, as he sensed a distinctly female figure in the distance. Maria. "You have to know that, Maria. No matter how you fight, how much you struggle towards it, you're never going to get revenge."

"The simple truth of it, Matthew, is that I don't want revenge. Just like you don't want revenge for your father or any of the other fallen souls that you've met..."

Matt froze.

"Yeah," she muttered. "I know your little secret, Matthew. Don't worry about it. We may need each other at one point in our lives."

"You're The Punisher, Maria."

"So what? Yes, I am."
