Claire and Foggy have been quietly seeing each other for months, since the end of S2. On one particular night, the couple decide to take their relationship to the next level. Unbeknownst to them, a certain former mutual friend is up on Foggy's apartment rooftop, unable to tear himself away.
He's happy for them. Really.

Thank you so much! I'm so glad to hear people are still reading. Will update asap I've written a bit longhand and need to type up.

Foggy's starting to suspect he's a supporting character in a superhero movie, and he starts testing the boundaries. How he goes about it is up to the author, but I'd love to seem him get more and more weirded out before he really comes to accept it. Bonus points if, somehow by the end of the story, he finds out what fanfic is and wonders

And y'know...from Matt's perspective, the ability to see the expression of the person speaking to you is a 'superpower.' Using his senses to compensate so he can do the same by listening to heartbeats? Not exactly dissimilar in the end result.

Thanks to everyone who's been following this. I've been writing a lot, but have finally gotten a chance to go through it, fix it up and post it.

Frank looked at the newspaper article. It was next to Matt's prone form. The man hardwired into his brain as Master was fast asleep. Matt hadn't even been able to read it, but Frank knew that he had examined it all the same. Even if Matt couldn't read the words, the existence of such an article was driving him mad. It was very likely that he had fallen asleep out of pure exhaustion.

MASKED VIGILANTE LAWYER?

He ran his fingers over the lettering, shaking his head. It was utterly tragic. Apparently, Emery hadn't just had sources, but layers of sources. The article was substantiated by a lot of damning evidence. It was going to be nearly impossible for Matt to work his way out of this web and he was pretty certain it was too late to escape.

Matt's phone buzzed a moment later.

"Text message from Foggy..."

Frank pressed the button to keep the obnoxious automated text from reading out loud. Instead, he read the words himself.

'Get Frank and get out now, Matt. Police on way.'

It was amazing to Frank that Matt was able to sleep through this. Usually the man couldn't even sleep without his bed, his satin sheets and utter quiet. This time, however, he was exhausted. He was terrified of what was about to fall on top of him and he was exhausted. Now, it had happened.

Police. No doubt coming to nab the slave that was in the wrong hands. Probably citing some anti-superhero code to do it.

Frank looked outside the window. There were several people outside. Reporters, waiting for the lawyer-slash-vigilante to come out, to say something.

"Matt," he said, his insides struggling with his lack of proper address. "Wake up."

Matt sprung awake.

"Police are on their way," Frank said, quietly. "Probably to retrieve me, sir. What do you want to do?"

The horror on Matt's face hurt.

"I don't know," Matt admitted. "I...I can get us out of here, maybe, but then the secret's out. I'm going to get disbarred, I'm going to lose you. I..."

Frank could hear the panic, thumping in Matt's chest along with his heartbeat. He was losing his ability to have calm, rational thoughts. That was an ability he'd lacked in for a long time, anyway.

"Let's go," Frank said, deciding that he needed to make the decision for his master. They at least had to try to survive this. "Let's go now."

From a nearby roof, Frank and Matt looked down on his apartment building. It was swarmed not only by police, but by reporters. Karen was there, looking out of place, but like she wanted to do some damage control. Frank didn't really think she was capable of that, as good as she was.

"They're calling for me," Matt said, closing his eyes. He had put on the suit, taking all traces of Daredevil out of the apartment. "They're calling for me and demanding I return you to the woman with them. See the one in front?"

Frank looked over and saw a redheaded woman. Unlike his superpowered companion though, he couldn't hear what she was saying.

"She's a slave officer," he said finally. He didn't recognize her, but his days in the Slave Office were burned into his brain. He knew the stance, he knew the expression. They were all the same.

"Yeah," Matt replied. "I should have let you kill Emery."

"It wouldn't have helped," Frank said, knowing that was the truth. "Guys like him always have failsafes for when they bite the big one."

"Frank, you should go."

Those words came so suddenly. Frank couldn't really do anything other than just stare at his master.

"Where am I supposed to go?" he asked. He found that almost amusing. "I'm not a free man, sir."

"You've managed to avoid the police before," Matt insisted. "You're so good, Frank..."
"
"I can't go back," Frank said, in nearly a whisper. "I know that it sounds weak, but I won't let them take me back."

"Please go, Frank."

Frank, of course, knew that Matt was right. If he didn't try to escape, then he was going to end up back in the Slave Office for sure. He could not, in any way, live with that. He gave one last look to his master and then he ran.

So Nelson & Murdock reform. Foggy had money from his last job but the reality is that N&M is up to their eyeballs in debt. So in desperation to stay open and help the innocents Foggy makes the bad choice to sign them up for a reality show. It was supposed to be a one time thing but unfortunately he didn't quite read the contract as well as he should of (thanks to having to help Matt from his "hobby").

He signed them up for a "reality" show à la the Office or Parks and Recreation.

Matt is pissed. But Foggy reassures him they'll barely have a first season.

He's wrong. They're a hit. Everyone loves Matt and his earnestness to do justice and good and he's quite handsome and charismatic, that helps.

Cue fans and a lot of business.

Cue Karen returning.

Cue Stick WTF when he 'visits' Matt

Cue Fish watching in prison .

etc.

TLDR: Nelson and Murdock get stuck having to performing in a Parks and Recreation/the Office kind of show.

Prompt says Foggy, but I bet Stick could form an opinion based on his immense knowledge of cartoon sound effects.

I'd love to read a prison AU where Frank was arrested and sentenced after getting violent revenge on his family's killers, and Matt is new in the prison system. You'd probably have to fudge details a bit to get Matt in a general prison population, but I would love to read any interpretation.

Matt the kind hearted yet tragically clumsy lawyer. Like maybe he becomes a trope since he over plays his "clumsiness"? I'm sure Matt would be able to figure it out.

“I would've shot him,” she says. Voice level. Chin up. “You know that, don't you? You know what I have in my purse.” Karen’s never mentioned the gun before, never mentioned any of the baggage that goes with it, but if his senses are everything he says they are - he has to know it’s there, adding weight to her purse, smelling of steel and oil.

The knife slides in nicely beside it.

It’s another test. If his response is an automatic Oh no, you'd never do that, I know you wouldn’t - fail. If he says I know and his lips curl up in a disgust he can't hide - fail.

He exhales. It’s shaky. “I know. And we’re both glad you didn’t have to.”

This time, Karen thinks, that fury blazing up again, this time I didn’t have to, where were you last time - but that wasn’t fair, it wasn’t fair for her to expect Daredevil to be everywhere, in every moment, and the world didn’t owe her a savior just because she was in trouble. Besides. She’d answered that call herself.

But he's not wrong, of course he's not wrong: tonight, she’s glad she didn’t have to.

“You're right,” she says, since he is. “Thank you.”

And, God, the little smile that steals at his lips, the way he ducks his head, it's all Matt, Matt when he's pleased and embarrassed and at a loss for the next word to say. And it's good; it’s softness she forced on him.

“Daredevil,” Karen says. “Walk me home.”

He walks in the shadows. Even so, even partially obscured by darkness, it’s a startling sight: the Devil grounded, not swinging away, not disappearing into the night, just steady, solid, and silent at her side, walking a path she sets.

She likes it. It satisfies something within her Karen didn’t quite know was wanting. She’d like to have this moment on film too, she thinks. Saved in her playlist. She’d like to see it again.

Two blocks. Three. Just the two of them on the street, like this little corner of the Kitchen belongs only to them. Four -

Karen doesn’t see or hear anything, but something must cross Matt’s radar, because suddenly his hand is on her arm, and he’s drawing her back into a darkened corner. Maybe he pulls just a little bit more than necessary, maybe she stumbles in a little closer than she has to, or maybe both, but they end up with his back to the wall, her pressed tight against him, waiting while a pair of shuffling footsteps passes by.

“Just a New Yorker out for a midnight stroll?” Karen whispers, when - for her - the sound has faded into the distance. She’s sure the answer is yes; a whiff of a threat, and Matt would’ve shouldered his way in front of her instead of letting her do the work of blocking most of his devil suit from view.

He makes small noise of agreement, then drops her arm, hand fisting the air at her waist before falling to his side. Karen could take a step back. She doesn’t. She’s studying his face from inches away; that mask with its red lenses over the eyes is so much less disconcerting, now. It’s Matt, and she's used to his eyes being obscured.

She’s used to taking her cues from his mouth.

Frank has a nice ass.
Since Matt can't stare at Frank's ass because he can't see it, I want him feeling up it up with his hands. Frank indulgently lets his boyfriend grope away.

this is such a great fill. good job, matt, recognizing that karen can and will take care of herself (but doesn't mind you beating people up for her so long as you remember she's not a plaster saint). and good on you, karen, for taking the knife. ♥

i like how she enjoys having him follow her lead, and then that line about taking her cues from his mouth... hng.

Frank - Lost

Frank knew that he was lost. He'd visited a total of one mandated therapist, and she had told him in no uncertain terms that he was suffering from PTSD.

It made sense. On his last deployment, they had lost a lot of men, and those that had come back had been scarred for life. Frank was one of the few blessed without permanent physical scarring, at least. Yeah, he was lost and there was no way to find himself back.

Matt and Maria tried their best to help him, but they couldn't reach him. Even Lisa tried, with her three year old's wisdom.

"Daddy," she whined. "We can read my book tonight?"

"Isn't your mama doing that?" he asked her.

Lisa's expression broke his heart, but he felt blank, like there was a shell between him and the outside world. It hurt, but it didn't hurt enough.

Things wern't good. Maria was working a good job, and more than filling in the gaps financially, but Matt was still roaming the streets at night in a job that was more dangerous than any of them could handle.

Then there was the baby.

"I think it'll be a boy," Maria had told him, a grin on her face as she laid his flat hand against her stomach. "I know that's what most people think when they already have a girl, but I feel it by instinct, you know?"

"I bet it will be," Frank replied. He had smiled, giving her the best reaction he could, but it was truly difficult to smile. He had a feeling that Maria knew how fake it was. "What are we going to call the little man?"

"I was thinking we name him after you."

"What?" Frank asked her, dazed. "What did Matt say to that idea?"

Matt had stepped out of the shadows, like the mysterious figure he always was.

"I suggested it, Frank."

Frank had never been so lost, but he knew his family was the key.

So, this prompt totally made me look at pictures...
