    2. All comments must be anon. If you would like to be politely banned to avoid anon-failing, leave a logged-in comment on the mod post or pm the mod account.

    3. Subject lines should only be changed if you're posting a prompt or a fill (indicators like OP or Author!Anon should go in the body of the comment).

    5. Prompts focusing on characters from Jessica Jones should go on the Jessica Jones Prompt Post, but crossovers with Daredevil can go on either post.

    6. Prompts that are exclusively about the comics should go on the Comics Prompt Post.

    7. Drop a comment on the mod post if you have any questions or problems.

  • Prompts
    1. All types of prompts are welcome.

    2. Use the subject line for the main idea of your prompt (pairing or characters, keywords, kink).

    3. Warnings are nice, but not mandatory. Get DW Blocker if there's anything you really don't want to see.

    2. Announce your fill on either the Completed Fills Post or the WIP Post.

    4. Multiple fills are always okay.

    5. Fills can be anything! Fic, art and vids are all welcome.

Fill: The 5 times Matt tried to reach out to Foggy (4/6)

(Anonymous) 2016-04-17 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Matt spent the rest of the week busy. A drug deal had led to the name of a dealer, and the dealer had led to a small network of dealers. They were focusing their efforts on kids, trying to get them hooked before they could even graduate.

Matt had dealt with them.

On one hand, it had been a great way to channel his own volatile emotional state. On the other hand, he'd taken all of them on at once and earned himself a couple of broken ribs in the process.

Those always took too long to heal.

It was two nights before he was out again, ribs wrapped under his suit, ready to defend the city, but kind of hoping for nothing more strenuous than a purse-snatching. Ninjas were definitely off the table.

Please, no more ninjas.

Matt was so lost in his thoughts, he didn't notice that he was just two buildings over from Foggy's apartment until it was too late.

He warred with himself. He'd been avoiding Foggy's building because he hadn't wanted to intrude, but he really did want to check on his friend at least once. Just once to make sure he was okay. Yeah, he'd closed the tab, and ignored the note, and the call... but maybe there was something going on that Matt didn't know about. Maybe there was some explanation that would make it all fit.

It seemed as if his best friend since college had essentially moved on without him, which - if Matt were being honest - he couldn't really complain about because that's exactly what he'd asked him to do in the first place.

Still, it stung. More than stung. It ached like a wound that wouldn't heal. And maybe if he were absolutely sure that Foggy was all right, he'd be able to find some healing. He just wanted to know that Foggy was okay without him.

Like Matt always suspected he'd be.

Or, maybe he was just a masochist. He already had physical pain, maybe he wanted to heap on some emotional pain to match.

Somewhere in the depths of his psyche, Matt secretly - so secretly that he didn't even really acknowledge it - wished that he'd find Foggy alone in his apartment, mourning the loss of their friendship. He wanted to know that Foggy was hurting as much as he was. Which was why he didn't acknowledge that part of him because what kind of a person would he be if he wanted his friend to suffer?

He didn't want Foggy to suffer. He didn't want him to be sad and alone. Not really. Maybe it was just that if he knew that Foggy was struggling too, he wouldn't feel so alone.

Matt's feet decided for him, and he traveled the last two rooftops to arrive at Foggy's apartment building, his ears automatically searching for Foggy's voice, or some sign that he was home. What he picked up was the last thing he expected.

Voices. Multiple voices. Were they all in Foggy's apartment? He couldn't tell, but he could definitely hear Foggy answering someone... he wasn't talking to the TV. He slowed his breath and just listened.

"You're the man!" That was Foggy. He sounded... happy.

"Man, you have no idea how long it took, though!" Another voice... a man...

"And he did have a lot of help!" That was a woman's voice... then laughter. At least 2 more people.

He had friends over. Foggy was hosting some sort of party.

And he was happy.

Matt blocked out the rest. He focused on the nearby electric pole, filling his mind with the buzz the wires were making. A sudden sharp pain in his chest made him wonder distantly if he'd been hit by something. Though his scrambling hands found nothing but an intact suit, the pain increased.

There was another noise too, faint... whimpering.

Ice washed over him as he realized the noise was coming from him. He was hyperventilating, wheezing out quiet whimpers with each exhale.

He lurched to his feet, unable to recall sitting down in the first place. He needed to put some distance between himself and the evidence of Foggy's happiness.

Evidence that he'd moved on.

Without Matt.

He'd been right: Foggy didn't need him. He never had.

Foggy stepped into his kitchen to refill his drink, and surreptitiously glance at his watch because, man, the night was dragging on. When Hogarth had "suggested" - quotes intended because her "suggestions" weren't really suggestions at all - that he invite a few of the key associates over for drinks, he hadn't realized what a chore it would be. They'd all known each other years, and were quite content to spend the night retelling all their you-had-to-be-there stories.

Except he hadn't been there.

But they were important people to get to know, according to Hogarth, so he listened and laughed in all the right places, waiting for the night to finally end.

He missed Matt.

Author anon: I know, right? But honestly, I don't think Foggy is even necessarily trying to move on. He's just kind of living his life and going about his business assuming Matt is okay because it's exactly what Matt asked for. I know if probably feels like forever, but really, in the story it's been a matter of weeks, not months. I think Foggy just figures he'll give Matt a little time and space and see how it goes. I don't think Foggy realizes the depth of Matt's issues.

Poor muffins. lol
