Kink Meme Repost Madness!

All Rounds & Other Useful Links
Rules | Mod Post | Discussion/Off-Topic Post | Writing Challenges
Fills: Completed & WIPs

The new challenge is here! It's been written and arranged by [personal profile] enthusiasmgirl, so please direct all questions and thanks to her :D

So S2 is coming in March! And as excited as we all are, I’m sure we’re all sad that it means that older prompts on the meme might just get forgotten about. So, this challenge is designed to keep us all inspired for the next couple of months, highlight the very best prompts on the meme for newbies and people who come post-S2 and want to get in the wayback machine, and just be fun for everyone!

There are multiple ways to participate in this challenge, even if you’re only a reader or lurker!

1. NOMINATE PROMPTS AND DISCUSS NOMINATIONS

This challenge is about discovering the hidden gems, forgotten about favourites, and most talked about, inspiring ideas hidden in the 6,000+ prompts on this meme and distilling them down to the favourites, the best of the best.

We need you to nominate your favourite unfilled prompts (from Prompt Post #1 to Prompt Post #8) across the following 21 subcategories:

THE FEELS
  • Whump or Hurt/Comfort
  • Romantic Tropefic (fake marriage or dating, alternate first meeting, etc.)
  • Tooth-Rotting Fluff
DAREDEVIL FANDOM TROPES
  • Ableism and Disability
  • Heightened Senses
  • Catholicism
OTHER PEOPLE’S PLAYGROUNDS
  • Non-MCU Crossover & Fusion
  • MCU Crossover
  • Comic-Inspired
PUTTING THE KINK IN THE KINK MEME
  • PWP and Smut (although these are obviously also encouraged in all other categories if they fit)
  • BDSM or D/S AU
  • Polyamory
CHARACTER STUDIES
  • The Ladies (Marci, Claire, Karen, Vanessa or others and can include femslash prompts)
  • The Villains (Fisk, Wesley, the Ranskahov brothers, etc.)
  • Foggy is a _______ (Prompts that fill in that blank somehow even if it’s not phrased that way in the header)
ALTERNATE UNIVERSES
  • Demons or Magical Realism
  • Soulmate or Soulmark
  • General Alternate Universes (Wild West, Coffee Shop, Outer Space, Prostitution, etc. are all welcome!)
CANON APPROACHES
  • Pre-Canon
  • Nelson v. Murdock
  • Canon Divergence
To nominate, simply repost your prompts below on the NOMINATED PROMPTS comment using the prompt header as the subject line and the following template in the body:

Category:
Prompt Details:
Link to Original Prompt:

You must choose only one category even if it fits into multiple categories (so an AU doesn’t have to go into the AU category, or an Ableism prompt doesn’t have to go there but can be considered hurt/comfort, for example). You don’t have to be the OP of the original prompt. You can nominate as many prompts as you’d like in as many categories as you’d like.

How does your nomination rise to the top?

Well, if it’s the only one in its category, it’s the winner by default. But if it’s not, a points system will be applied as follows:
  • 1 point - each brief comment seconding the nomination (+1, seconded, *camping out*, etc.)
  • 2 points - each additions to the prompt (suggestions on what could happen, conversation even if it veers OT that’s related, etc.) and comments on those additions
  • 3 points - each mini-fill completed on the fill under 1000 words

This applies only to the new repost thread. What does this mean? Encourage people to second your nomination! And second others nominations if you want them to win too! We want to ensure that the prompts that win are the ones that everyone is really excited to see filled.

If it gets filled, fantastic! It will be disqualified from being nominated, but everyone’s happy because someone filled it! :D

The nomination period closes on January 31, 2016

2. SIGN UP AS A WRITER OR MULTIMEDIA FILLER

We are looking for writers, fan artists, or other multimedia artisans willing to commit to participating in the challenge from February 1 - March 15th.

The sign-up deadline is January 31, 2015. To sign up, click here to indicate the name you would like to use for the challenge (which does not have to be your fandom name) and the categories you are most interested in filling for and provide your email address to the challenge mod. If you are contributing something besides writing, indicate what that is as well.

Multimedia options include:
  • Fan Art
  • Podfic
  • Fanvid
  • Fan Mix
  • GIFs
  • Meta
Don’t take the list above as limiting. Any other suggested creative contribution (in case there’s someone out there who crochets or does flash animations or something) would also be welcomed.

You can state that you wish to write AND provide another kind of fill if you’re willing to fill a prompt in more than one category.

On February 1st, 21 winning prompts will be announced, one in each category. The prompts will be first come-first serve, with one writer and one multimedia filler being able to claim each one here on the meme. You can choose to write more than one fill for more than one category if you want. Fillers working on the same prompt are encouraged to be collaborative.

Written fills must be a minimum of 2500 words.
The deadline for all fills is March 15, 2015.

Once the prompts are all claimed, the fillers working on them will be announced to the kink meme community and there will be an open discussion area here on that prompt so that people can encourage you as you write, including offers to beta, new ideas or thoughts, and general cheerleading.

3. GENERAL CHEERLEADING AND WORD-SPREADING!

For this challenge to be successful, we need to bring back some people who may have left the kink meme or who may not realize one of their prompts is being boosted. We need to encourage writers and other fillers not just to sign up, but also to finish their fills. We may need pinch hitters and betas and additional organizers to catalogue the prompts nominated, etc. Primarily, we just need an active group of people willing to keep this meme and this challenge interesting.

So please spread the word even if you’re not participating, here and on Tumblr and in whatever fandom space you’re in with Daredevil fandom! And encourage the great conversations and community on this meme who make it what it is! This challenge is for everyone, and so we hope you all participate and enjoy it.

Re: QUESTIONS

(Anonymous) 2016-01-01 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Are those sub-bullets examples that fit into those categories, or the only things that can be nominated in that category?

Ex., for AUs the list is:

Demons or Magical Realism
Fusion
Soulmate or Soulmark

Does that mean ONLY those type of AUs can be nominated (thus a Coffee Shop AU prompt is out), or is that only an example of what can be put forward?

Re: QUESTIONS

(Anonymous) 2016-01-01 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Those are the only categories, however you are welcome to put other kinds of AUs into the other categories if they fit.

So, as an example, if a Coffee Shop AU also has a whumpy premise it could go into the Whump category, or if it's fluffy it could be Tooth-Rotting Fluff.

(Same thing with Smut and PWP - it's there generally but could go anywhere really).

However, I am actually going to adjust to add a General AU category, because I realize that they may actually not fit another place.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-01 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm, I'm looking at the Fusion category under AU - isn't that essentially a Non-MCU crossover?

Also - what if a prompt has an unfinished fill that has been abandoned? Is that prompt disqualified from being nominated?

Re: QUESTIONS

(Anonymous) 2016-01-01 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmmm... I'm going to say yes unless you can confirm with the author somehow that it's abandoned. Because I know that authors in the OT post have stated that just because a fic hasn't been updated in one month, two months, six months, doesn't mean it's necessarily abandoned (and I know this is true from personal WIP experience as well).

Re: QUESTIONS

[personal profile] enthusiasmgirl 2016-01-01 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I will also say that if a fill is under 1000 words it counts as a mini-fill, and therefore does still qualify.

So if a prompt, for example, has only a couple of non-related mini-fills or a mini-fill that is marked as part 1 and never continued, that would be fine.

If it has 10 mini-fills that all follow one another or were written by the same author, it would not count.

Does that make sense?

The idea is just that if something has substantial writing done on it, it's been filled already.

Re: QUESTIONS

(Anonymous) 2016-01-19 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a question about abandoned fills as well. What if the author started filling it and explicitly stated their intent to continue it (like naming a post chapter (3/7) or something) but they never continued it to you knowledge and it was never reposted anywhere else?

Basically I wanted to post this prompt: https://daredevilkink.dreamwidth.org/4501.html?thread=8962709#cmt8962709

But I'm not sure if it counts or if it's even abandoned.

Re: QUESTIONS

Not specifically, but feel free to put it into the category the prompt fits.

So if it's a PWP prompt, put it there. If it's a romance trope prompt, put it there, etc.

Re: QUESTIONS

(Anonymous) 2016-01-02 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
What happens if I don't sign up as a filler (5000 words can feel daunting) but decide to do a mini-fill and it ends up being more than 1000 words? Would that be allowed?

Re: QUESTIONS

[personal profile] enthusiasmgirl 2016-01-02 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
Well I can't make exceptions for the word limit or it's meaningless...

Although I might lower it to encourage sign-up to 2500 words. The thing is, I want to encourage more substantial fills and not mini-fills for the main challenge. Would 2500 still seem as daunting?

Re: QUESTIONS

(Anonymous) 2016-01-02 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
Different anon, but I was excited about this until I got to the 5k part, and thought, there's no way I personally can commit to that with a 6 week writing period. At 2500, I would probably sign up.

AYRT- yes, 2500 words would feel more doable, and thank you for your dedication and enthusiasm to keep this fandom active! :)

Re: QUESTIONS

(Anonymous) 2016-01-02 08:14 am (UTC)(link)
A couple of questions here!

First, and it's my big one, what time are the prompts going to be released and will it be fair(ish) to all timezones? I'm in a well, awkward timezone and while I've signed up I really don't want to have absolutely no chance to get any prompt I really want because it releases at 3am my time.

And secondly, what happens if more than 21 people sign up? Is this only for the first 21 people to sign up?

Re: QUESTIONS

(Anonymous) 2016-01-02 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been wondering about this too. It sounds like the rules allow for at most 21 writers and 21 multimedia fillers. And maybe less, because they also allow people to write for more than one prompt. It feels weird when multiple fills are usually encouraged?

Re: QUESTIONS

(Anonymous) 2016-01-02 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Important question! At least for me as my participation relies on the answer.

For the sake of this question, let's assume that 21 or less people sign up. The difference in timezones means that there's a distinct possibility that someone will get fucked. So, what happens if - when a Filler gets to claiming a prompt - the only ones left are i.e. heavy BDSM porn and a crossover with a fandom the Filler has never heard of?

The rules state that we should indicate the category for which we'd like to write, but then the claiming is first come-first serve, so I assume that means that someone might claim the prompt from preferred category before me. What then? Is there a possibility to drop out?

Re: QUESTIONS

(Anonymous) 2016-01-03 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm yes I am also rather concerned about this. And I read in another post that a prompt under the "feels" category, for example, could include smut/AU/etc. I understand that this is to avoid having 50+ categories, but this would be challenging to say the least for someone who can't write smut etc. Would it be possible to drop out in this case?

Re: QUESTIONS

So, scenario:

Say multiple people wanted to write for a nominated prompt. Only one of those people 'wins' the prompt.

What if one of the other potential writers decides they want to fill that prompt anyway? Now that it has a fill, is that nominated prompt now disqualified and the 'assigned' prompter is out of luck for this challenge?

Re: QUESTIONS

[personal profile] enthusiasmgirl 2016-01-02 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm... well if they choose to just fill it anywhere AFTER it's already been chosen as a winning prompt, it wouldn't be disqualified because it already won and entered the challenge phase.

It's only if it gets a fill prior to the challenge starting in February that it gets disqualified from moving forward. If after it wins it ends up with multiple fills, well, then hey! Awesome!

Someone's complaining about extensive discussion of a prompt here:

http://daredevilkink.dreamwidth.org/6916.html?thread=12546564#cmt12546564

I thought that we were supposed to speculate on prompts we're enthusiastic about - can you clarify?

Re: QUESTIONS

[personal profile] enthusiasmgirl 2016-01-03 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks so much for pointing it out!

I have responded to clarify here: http://daredevilkink.dreamwidth.org/6916.html?thread=12550404#cmt12550404

Basically, of course we definitely want extensive discussion on a prompt, even if it veers close to seeming like fills. And if a prompt gets filled through mini-fills or a proper fill by someone and is disqualified, that's still AWESOME! The point is to fill these, challenge or no!

That's why mini-fills (containing prose or dialogue) are actually worth 3 points each. They only count as filling the prompt when collectively they add up to more than 1000 words.

A writer here! When we're done, where should we post the fill? On the original prompt, the reposted prompt below, the re–reposted prompt down at the bottom where our assignment is listed, or all three?
