Kink Meme Repost Madness!

All Rounds & Other Useful Links
Rules | Mod Post | Discussion/Off-Topic Post | Writing Challenges
Fills: Completed & WIPs

The new challenge is here! It's been written and arranged by [personal profile] enthusiasmgirl, so please direct all questions and thanks to her :D

So S2 is coming in March! And as excited as we all are, I’m sure we’re all sad that it means that older prompts on the meme might just get forgotten about. So, this challenge is designed to keep us all inspired for the next couple of months, highlight the very best prompts on the meme for newbies and people who come post-S2 and want to get in the wayback machine, and just be fun for everyone!

There are multiple ways to participate in this challenge, even if you’re only a reader or lurker!

1. NOMINATE PROMPTS AND DISCUSS NOMINATIONS

This challenge is about discovering the hidden gems, forgotten about favourites, and most talked about, inspiring ideas hidden in the 6,000+ prompts on this meme and distilling them down to the favourites, the best of the best.

We need you to nominate your favourite unfilled prompts (from Prompt Post #1 to Prompt Post #8) across the following 21 subcategories:

THE FEELS
  • Whump or Hurt/Comfort
  • Romantic Tropefic (fake marriage or dating, alternate first meeting, etc.)
  • Tooth-Rotting Fluff
DAREDEVIL FANDOM TROPES
  • Ableism and Disability
  • Heightened Senses
  • Catholicism
OTHER PEOPLE’S PLAYGROUNDS
  • Non-MCU Crossover & Fusion
  • MCU Crossover
  • Comic-Inspired
PUTTING THE KINK IN THE KINK MEME
  • PWP and Smut (although these are obviously also encouraged in all other categories if they fit)
  • BDSM or D/S AU
  • Polyamory
CHARACTER STUDIES
  • The Ladies (Marci, Claire, Karen, Vanessa or others and can include femslash prompts)
  • The Villains (Fisk, Wesley, the Ranskahov brothers, etc.)
  • Foggy is a _______ (Prompts that fill in that blank somehow even if it’s not phrased that way in the header)
ALTERNATE UNIVERSES
  • Demons or Magical Realism
  • Soulmate or Soulmark
  • General Alternate Universes (Wild West, Coffee Shop, Outer Space, Prostitution, etc. are all welcome!)
CANON APPROACHES
  • Pre-Canon
  • Nelson v. Murdock
  • Canon Divergence
To nominate, simply repost your prompts below on the NOMINATED PROMPTS comment using the prompt header as the subject line and the following template in the body:

Category:
Prompt Details:
Link to Original Prompt:

You must choose only one category even if it fits into multiple categories (so an AU doesn’t have to go into the AU category, or an Ableism prompt doesn’t have to go there but can be considered hurt/comfort, for example). You don’t have to be the OP of the original prompt. You can nominate as many prompts as you’d like in as many categories as you’d like.

How does your nomination rise to the top?

Well, if it’s the only one in its category, it’s the winner by default. But if it’s not, a points system will be applied as follows:
  • 1 point - each brief comment seconding the nomination (+1, seconded, *camping out*, etc.)
  • 2 points - each additions to the prompt (suggestions on what could happen, conversation even if it veers OT that’s related, etc.) and comments on those additions
  • 3 points - each mini-fill completed on the fill under 1000 words

This applies only to the new repost thread. What does this mean? Encourage people to second your nomination! And second others nominations if you want them to win too! We want to ensure that the prompts that win are the ones that everyone is really excited to see filled.

If it gets filled, fantastic! It will be disqualified from being nominated, but everyone’s happy because someone filled it! :D

The nomination period closes on January 31, 2016

2. SIGN UP AS A WRITER OR MULTIMEDIA FILLER

We are looking for writers, fan artists, or other multimedia artisans willing to commit to participating in the challenge from February 1 - March 15th.

The sign-up deadline is January 31, 2015. To sign up, click here to indicate the name you would like to use for the challenge (which does not have to be your fandom name) and the categories you are most interested in filling for and provide your email address to the challenge mod. If you are contributing something besides writing, indicate what that is as well.

Multimedia options include:
  • Fan Art
  • Podfic
  • Fanvid
  • Fan Mix
  • GIFs
  • Meta
Don’t take the list above as limiting. Any other suggested creative contribution (in case there’s someone out there who crochets or does flash animations or something) would also be welcomed.

You can state that you wish to write AND provide another kind of fill if you’re willing to fill a prompt in more than one category.

On February 1st, 21 winning prompts will be announced, one in each category. The prompts will be first come-first serve, with one writer and one multimedia filler being able to claim each one here on the meme. You can choose to write more than one fill for more than one category if you want. Fillers working on the same prompt are encouraged to be collaborative.

Written fills must be a minimum of 2500 words.
The deadline for all fills is March 15, 2015.

Once the prompts are all claimed, the fillers working on them will be announced to the kink meme community and there will be an open discussion area here on that prompt so that people can encourage you as you write, including offers to beta, new ideas or thoughts, and general cheerleading.

3. GENERAL CHEERLEADING AND WORD-SPREADING!

For this challenge to be successful, we need to bring back some people who may have left the kink meme or who may not realize one of their prompts is being boosted. We need to encourage writers and other fillers not just to sign up, but also to finish their fills. We may need pinch hitters and betas and additional organizers to catalogue the prompts nominated, etc. Primarily, we just need an active group of people willing to keep this meme and this challenge interesting.

So please spread the word even if you’re not participating, here and on Tumblr and in whatever fandom space you’re in with Daredevil fandom! And encourage the great conversations and community on this meme who make it what it is! This challenge is for everyone, and so we hope you all participate and enjoy it.

Re: QUESTIONS

I'm going to essentially use my judgment at that point to make that determination.

Essentially, if I can copy/paste all the mini-fills into one document and they make a patchwork chronological mini-fill that makes sense, then yes I would count it as disqualified at that point. Only because at that point it will so dominate the nomination anyway as to make all other nominations in that category irrelevant for the remainder of the challenge, really.

Although, if people are open to it I might just consider taking two in that category or moving it into a separate category just called ALL-TIME FAVOURITES and see if any fillers in the challenge want to claim it? At this point until we pass the 21 person sign-up mark, not all winners will even be guaranteed a fill anyway and I've already been asked about what happens when more than 21 people sign up.

Which one sounds more fair to everyone? I would love some feedback on how everyone feels about this issue.

How about the all time favourites category, for any that hit that point, and prompts in that category can only be chosen if there's more than 21 sign-ups, or a writer can't fill any of the prompts left available in the main categories, but is comfortable working on a prompt in the all time favourites category?

If that's the case - where All Time Favorites is a category for prompts that already have fills - then can we open this new category to ALL prompts on the meme that already have fills?

But the category itself could be more like a bonus, it doesn't get deployed unless there's a need.

I am fine with reserving any nominated prompts that get the most points on the challenge but also get enough to qualify for a fill into a separate All Time Favourites category at the end (meaning you cannot nominate within it), but I have no intention of opening it up to all prompts that already have fills.

The reason being that I feel like people will flood the challenge page with filled prompts, and the entire point of this challenge is to show love to more neglected but beloved prompts. As it sits right now, I've already seen a few prompts posted that I KNOW have long, good fic that fit the prompt out there or on AO3 but that just weren't specifically filled for that prompt, which is fine and fair, but let's let the prompts already filled get out the way for awhile to revisit some lesser known but still great ideas.

Re: QUESTIONS

So I have determined the best way to move forward with this that's fair to everyone AND also addresses another issue brought to my attention, one of writers being scared to sign up because they don't want to have a set of prompts they can't write end up the winners.

Instead of claiming the top prompts in each category, I will be opening up the top THREE prompts in each category, but once a category is claimed by someone, the other two prompts go away unless we get more than 21 sign-ups and need to allow for multiple fills.

So, as an example, the Frank/Matt Rykers AU prompt may be one of the top three in it's category, but if there are no writers who signed up who want to write Matt/Frank, then unfortunately they might not choose it for that category.

This is the fairest way to do it, because I can't guarantee what writers who sign up will also be drawn to. It increases your chances of seeing it filled, and gives it a lot of visibility, but winning is NOT the ultimate guarantee of a fill.

Which is why, as I've said before, nobody who is thinking of filling a repost prompt here should really hesitate.
