This post is for prompts involving characters from Netflix's Daredevil.

Now that The Defenders prompt post is live, all crossovers between anyone in the four individual shows should go over there. Prompts only including characters that appear in Daredevil should still go here.

General

4. RPF is allowed. Crossovers, characters from the extended Marvel Universe and comics canon are allowed, but must relate to the 2015 TV show in some way.
5. Prompts focusing on characters from other Netflix Marvel shows or the comics should go on their respective prompt posts, but crossovers with Daredevil can go here.

Thank you!! I like the fallout scene. And I'm really glad that Frank didn't tell him the why. Matt probably hates it, because yeah, witholding something so personal as to "why is my name like that" is depersonalising. A clear stab of power over your mind and body, and I'm sure Matt felt that. But between two wrong choices, this is definitely the better one.

Also, I didn't realise he wouldn't know the colors! Whosh. That's a bit of a relief, finally. Unless someone comments on it, he might never find out. Someone probably will, but – oh well. One can hope. And we ARE here for the angst... 😈

Anyway. Yeah, I thought from the start that he would ask to be "Mike". It makes sense. He doesn't trust Frank with his real name, but he also doesn't want to give up on his identity. He's probably more lucky than most in already having the ability to choose something in-between.

"That red collar really suits your slave" and it goes down. Frank is lucky Matt doesn't kill ~~or does he?~~

He's definitely luckier than most slaves, for all of Frank's (many) failings.

A little off-topic, but how do you think Matt would deal with having a slave? At this point we've seen a hundred shades of SlaveMatt, but I can't recall any (serious) OwnerMatt story. Only things that come up to mind are a pornlogic one where Matt, Foggy and Karen co-own Wesley and a short one where Karen is Matt&Foggy's slave and they wonder if she's poisoning their coffee.

Jesus, there's a story out there where they co-own Weasley? Clearly I still have some innocence left. xd

(No shame, promise. This is just my inner monologue talking)

(Also, Karen as a slave definitely WOULD be poisoning her owners' coffee! She's a smart one xd) Is it fluff? For all the horrible things I like to read, the idea of Nelson&Murdock happily owning a slave leaves me seriously uncomfortable.

Ooof, he'd deal BADLY. It's hard to imagine how to be honest. The man is made out of contradictions, I'm not sure where he would fall between gentle care and Catholic devotion and uncontrolabble fury. I'm pretty sure it'd be a struggle for him to take care of a traumatised person completely dependent on him. He's barely able to keep himself alive and functional. I love him, but he fails his friends spectacularly whenever he goes off the deep end, which happens pretty regularly. He's a very, very poor candidate for an anchor to reality and a steady, supporting ground.

A few things come to mind:

lots of Catholic angst
Matt would definitely try to keep secrets and/or lie to them
he would get attatched, emotional and protective immediately
he wouldn't be rational enough to consider the risk his vigilantism put on them
he would probably try to bring down whoever reintroduced slavery to USA and think that would end it
he would be ultimately unable to keep his secrets secret from them (duh)
they would have to take care of each other, because there's no way Matt doesn't need it too.

So, uh. I guess that's how? It would be really interesting to see Matt struggle with this, actually. It might be a worse mental crisis for him than anything we saw in canon, and that's saying something.

I'm now imagining Matt's exasperated slave realizing he has to take care of his owner because he's such a mess.

Anyway! Yeah, the fic with SlaveWesley was probably in one of the early rounds here, I think. Like I said, it's very pornlogic and I don't remember them having moral dilemmas about using a slave.

The one with Karen: honestly I remember it as a short chapter with Matt and Foggy discussing the attempted poisoning and that's it? It wasn't very developed, if I'm correct. So not fluff, but not angst either. Just a piece without a larger story.

Pornlogic. I learned a new word today :D

Oh boy, Matt having a perpetually exasperated slave would be GLORIOUS.

Technically though, I think that's how it's supposed to be - slaves work (take care of everything) for owners, not the other way around. There's a line in the slavefic on p. 44 about how Matts lazy (former) owner wouldn't survive a single day without him, and how Matt would cook and clean and do just about everything for him.

So I guess whoever ends up as the slave wouldn't be surprised beyond the he's such a mess part.

Or maybe he's trying to take care of ME??? That man couldn't take care of a PET ROCK.

I think I might post Owner Matt as a prompt soon xD

Oh! I was meaning to ask: who do you imagine as Matt's slave?

I guess the obvious answer is Foggy or Karen, but if we go beyond obvious?

Or if we go with 'the obvious', how do we change it?

Most of Matt's friends already take care of him in canon (because he's such a mess xd), so I feel it would take some serious tinkering to make their slave-status feel like anything other than a paper-thin decoration on already established dynamics.

You're right of course, I just imagine Matt wouldn't ever order the slave to do anything so the taking care of would be (kind of) spontaneous, even if it is implicit in their status?
Maybe they would have to remind Matt to eat (I'm now imagining Matt preparing/ordering something for the slave but not himself) since it doesn't seem like he otherwise would, and that's not in their job description (not a job, but yeah)

My head was going off a vague female OC for some reason, but anything goes. I'm now thinking that having it being Claire (in a universe where they don't know each other) could be interesting!

I'm thinking maybe they realise it after a while, when Matt's efforts and probably open declarations to Not Make You Do Things, I Won't Be An Owner To You have become obvious. Then the exasperation would come in full force, because yes, they do actually have to 'do slave things', thank you for forcing my hand, Not-Sir.

My mind also went towards an OC, though not neccessarily a female one. I don't know, I didn't think of gender. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with creating a female slave OC. Either way, I'm also not very fond of adding OCs into fics, so I'm looking at alternatives.

Not Claire; I don't know, something doesn't fit there. It doesn't feel like it but if you look closer she's a paper-thin character in canon - if you give her trauma and a character+story beyond 'the level-deafed nurse', she'll be an OC and it will be obvious. My mind went to Weasley for some reason, or even Vanessa (though probably not).

Or possibly someone from Defenders, though the only person from there is Jessica for me. Which would be an amazing angry-slave fic, but I don't think that's where we wanted to go with this one...?

I don't know, I have to think about it. Who do I traumatize, hmm...

I think we might have to round back to Foggy Or Karen option.

I can see Foggy being assigned to Matt as a 'caretaker' on account of him being blind. It would be a much subtle fic than I imagine, because Foggy wouldn't be OBVIOUSLY traumatized and a jittery mess that walks around like a Staple Of Guilt. His cheer might be a little more forced, but as an essentially live-in nurse, he starts off on a much more equal basis than you'd think. His trauma would come out slowly, with nightmares and secret flashes of panic that he thinks he's hiding from his charge-slash-owner well.

Without something more to add I feel like the dynamic would be very similar to what we already have, so not very interesting. I have some ideas on how to spice things up here, but I'd be happy to hear yours first.

Karen, though. Oooff, there's some potential there.

Wesley would be really interesting, and potentially hilarious. I'm now imagining Wesley all exasperated at his stubborn owner who refuses to let him do anything. He wants to take care of Matt!
(I know slavery is a serious thing, but with Wesley I can't help myself.)

Karen could be interesting indeed! Would she trust Matt? Would she try to kill him? (Not where we were going, I know.)

I recalled another Reluctant Owner Matt fic I read, this one more developed. Matt had to choose between taking Frank as his slave (after they'd trained/broken him) or letting Frank die, pretty much. I only vaguely remember it, I should look it up.

Other potential Matt's slaves could be... maybe Clint?
For the "exasperated slave" type I can't think of many more characters; Jessica would be perfect for an angry slave fic instead, like you said.

Oh nah, that's DEFINITELY where I was going with Karen.

Maybe not immediately kill him (that wouldn't free her anyway, so. And she's not that much of a cold-blooded killer (yet?)). But consistently poisoning his coffee? Oh baby, now we're talking.

Also, investigations. SO many possible investigations.

Building an underground resistance right under his nose? Maybe while he's sleeping from that coffee...

I think she'd be vindictive xd.

Also, having a completely different relationship with the Devil than with Matt is a distinct possibility. I think Matt "I'll protect you Miss Page" Murdock would definitely take the opportunity to pursue her (not romantically) in a mask. Maybe while she thinks he's sleeping from that coffee... xD

I think she'd probably find out when he's passed out from injuries and she takes off the Mask part of 'Man in a Mask' to help him. And then she'd use slave-restrains to chain him to a wall or something xd

Was he building resistance with her? XD

I bet he's an anti-slavery terrorist. It's definitely in character for him, the Catholic devil-themed lawyer-vigilante.

Oh, absolutely! He would.

"You beat slavers up, free as many slaves you can, and still have the audacity to own one??"

Matt isn't liking his day at all.

I think hilarity has a place in slavery fics. Even in tragedy life is not made out of misery alone. I have hilarity in a suicide-attempt-slash-kidnapingly-adopted-children-and-a-brutal-murder-by-police fic, so I can't judge. The baby just bit Matt. While they're standing in a pool of blood. You know, balance it out xD

I don't think Weasley would be an immediately loyal and eager slave to anyone other than maybe Fisk, but I can definitely see him perpetually exasperated at his employer's consistent lack of Rational Thought.

And I can see him subtly and maybe manipulatively taking charge, not only of Matt's household but also slowly yet skillfully working his way towards taking over not an insignificant part of the world.

Oh, also - I added to your fill. Is that okay?

I figured if we go with scenes and snippets it wouldn't ruin plans and plots for you, but say a word and I'll never do it again, sorry.

It's perfectly fine! I like building stories together!
