Daredevil Prompt Post #12
AO3 Collection | Fills: Completed & WIPs
All Rounds & Other Useful Links
This post is for prompts involving characters from Netflix's Daredevil.
Now that The Defenders prompt post is live, all crossovers between anyone in the four individual shows should go over there. Prompts only including characters that appear in Daredevil should still go here.
Rules:
- General
- YKINMKATO. Play nice. Respect others. If you don't like something, scroll on.
- All comments must be anon. If you would like to be politely banned to avoid anon-failing, leave a logged-in comment on the mod post or pm the mod account.
- Subject lines should only be changed if you're posting a prompt or a fill (indicators like OP or Author!Anon should go in the body of the comment).
- RPF is allowed. Crossovers, characters from the extended Marvel Universe and comics canon are allowed, but must relate to the 2015 TV show in some way.
- Prompts focusing on characters from other Netflix Marvel shows or the comics should go on their respective prompt posts, but crossovers with Daredevil can go here.
- Drop a comment on the mod post if you have any questions or problems.
- Prompts
- All types of prompts are welcome.
- Use the subject line for the main idea of your prompt (pairing or characters, keywords, kink).
- Warnings are nice, but not mandatory. Get DW Blocker if there's anything you really don't want to see.
- Reposted prompts are allowed once one round has passed - e.g. prompts from post #2 cannot be reposted until post #4. Please include a link to where it has been previously posted.
- Fills
- When posting a fill, either add [FILL] (or something similar) to the subject line, or change the subject line to the title of your fill.
- Announce your fill on either the Completed Fills Post or the WIP Post.
- Long fills can either be posted over multiple comments, or posted on AO3 and linked back here.
- Multiple fills are always okay.
- Fills can be anything! Fic, art and vids are all welcome.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-30 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)I'm tempted to continue; are you?
Re: MINI-FILL part 3: Soldiers in the midnight
(Anonymous) 2024-07-30 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)I can see Matt crumpling at Frank's words. Maybe crying? (Oh Matt! KinkMeme who, this is clearly a WhumpMattMeme.)
Re: MINI-FILL part 3: Soldiers in the midnight
(Anonymous) 2024-07-30 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)Did Matt kill another student because it was a fight to the death and the victor “graduated”?
Did he kill another enemy in the heat of battle with the hand?
Was it a training excursion?
How many more times did Matt fight and kill before he got out?
I can’t imagine Stick would abandon him in this verse considering Matt’s a killer. He’d probably just smack him and give him the emotions are weakness speech then force him to kill someone else.
How did Matt finally get out and why didn’t Stick drag him back? It must have been some sort of dramatic showdown for Stick to let him go.
I’m thinking Matt kills someone at Stick’s command and later finds out more about the person, that he was a good man, had a family, and now they’re struggling because he’s dead. Or maybe he was killed because he wanted to change and become a good man. He’d already taken strides towards that and then Matt had to fight him. Worse yet, the man was winning but when he realized how young Matt was, he stopped fighting. “You don’t have to do this. There’s good in you still.” “I forgive you”Are the man’s last words before Matt kills him.
He’s haunted by this and eventually defects. Becomes useless to Stick’s cause and Stick abandons him. After that Matt tries to pretend he’s a normal child.
Re: MINI-FILL part 3: Soldiers in the midnight
(Anonymous) 2024-07-30 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)You're right that Stick probably wouldn't abandon him if Matt was a killer. But I think it also could have happened AFTER Stick. Matt had already been trained enough to be a small killing machine - or close to it. Now he's left to his own devices, with no direction or supervision, and there really isn't any reason to assume he went back to the nuns on that day. They essentially handed him to Stick no questions asked, does he even still come back for the nights? Would anyone even look for him? I don't think he'd go on a killing spree, but a small boy wandering the streets of New York night after night is a prime target for All Kinds Of Shit.
I'm just saying; stuff might have happened.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-30 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)You're great at making it hurt, anon!
Re: MINI-FILL part 3: Soldiers in the midnight
(Anonymous) 2024-07-30 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)It's true - this works well as an ending to that scene. But I feel like we could write around it, make this into a full story instead of a one-shot. Here's a few ideas that come to mind:
something disturbed Matt enough to make him not just think about it, but talk about it, bring up questions and confess. What was it? What TF is going on in his life?
is Matt's past walking into his present? How? Does it meddle in his daylife? Does it touch Karen and Foggy?
Frank knows about a guy training child soldiers now, what does he do? He can't really hunt down a guy named "Stick" who may or may not be alive/on this continent/on this plane of existence. But I can't really see him leaving it alone either.
I don't think we can get very far with Secret War Against Undead Ninjas - it's too out there. But if Little Matt got tangled up in something gritty and street-level right here in New York--- yeah, I can see that working. It would make things much more complex than just "Stick made me do it", which is a definite bonus.
The obvious thing to do would be to have Stick come back. But it's obvious, so, you know. We can probably come up with something better. What did Matt get tangled up in? Was he fighting against some kind of gang, or did he fight for them? Did he commit crimes? (Well, murder, obviously, but besides that?)
Tell me what you think :)
Re: MINI-FILL part 3: Soldiers in the midnight
(Anonymous) 2024-07-30 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)Your idea about Matt getting involved with a local gang after leaving Stick is great! And that could very well be why he's thinking back now (not that he ever stopped), or... Maybe Roscoe Sweeney comes out to play.
I always figured Elektra must have gone back to deal with him or something, because if not, what's he been up to for the last however many years not sending anyone after Matt? (For that matter, if the police got him, how comes no one questioned Matt or anything? I can see Sweeney not making his name, I guess, if he wants to deal with Matt himself.)
This is kind of derailing, and I saw there's a part 4 I'm going to read as soon as I send this comment, but I'll still say: the added angst of Elektra inciting ex-killer-Matt to kill his father's killer.
MINI-FILL part 4 maybe?: Soldiers in the midnight
(Anonymous) 2024-07-30 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)"That blood you spilled doesn't change it.”
“The last man I killed,” Matt starts, then stops for a long time. “The last man I killed, I found out later he was trying to do better, trying to get out. I didn’t know that at the time. I only knew that Stick ordered me to kill the traitor.”
Red pauses for a long time, and Frank gives him the time he needs. Red’s eyes, despite not being able to see, still reflect the anguished emotions he feels as he tells his tale.
“We were fighting one on one and he was winning. He was about to kill me when he pulled off my mask. When he realized how young I was he stopped.”
Frank was listening to Matt’s confession, barely daring to breathe. He suspected this was the first time Red had told anyone this. Nelson wouldn’t understand and Page, well she might but then she’d treat Red differently and Frank knew Red didn’t want that.
Matt continued, oblivious of the thoughts going on in Frank’s head. “I took advantage of his hesitation and broke free but he refused to fight me. He spoke to me instead. He said, ‘you don’t have to do this. There’s good in you still.’ I hesitated but Stick yelled out to kill him so I did.”
Matt was openly crying now as he continued, “His last words will haunt me to my dying days, ‘I forgive you’ is all he said before he died.”
“Later, I found out he’d been having second thoughts about Stick’s war, and was trying to quietly defect. He left behind a wife and child. I stopped fighting after that, became useless to Stick’s war so he abandoned me,” Matt finished.
Frank thought about this story. It made sense now why Red always sought the good out in people. If this cold blooded killer could change, and even forgive his murderer with his dying breath…. Then there was Red himself to consider. He had to believe in change since he’d done it himself. Frank didn’t know what to say in the wake of Matt’s confession.
Re: MINI-FILL part 4 maybe?: Soldiers in the midnight
(Anonymous) 2024-07-30 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)- ouch, that hurts.
Re: MINI-FILL part 4 maybe?: Soldiers in the midnight
(Anonymous) 2024-07-30 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)Yes! I really liked the part about the "traitor's" last words to Matt inspiring to this day, I'm glad you incorporated it.
(I assumed we were two anons talking/filling this, but it seems we're three now? Which is just as well, might just be confusing to figure out who's saying what XD. I'm the one who filled part 2.)
