Daredevil Prompt Post #12

Mod Post | Discussion/Off-Topic Post | Writing Challenges
AO3 Collection | Fills: Completed & WIPs

All Rounds & Other Useful Links

This post is for prompts involving characters from Netflix's Daredevil.

Now that The Defenders prompt post is live, all crossovers between anyone in the four individual shows should go over there. Prompts only including characters that appear in Daredevil should still go here.

Rules:
  • General
    1. YKINMKATO. Play nice. Respect others. If you don't like something, scroll on.

    2. All comments must be anon. If you would like to be politely banned to avoid anon-failing, leave a logged-in comment on the mod post or pm the mod account.

    3. Subject lines should only be changed if you're posting a prompt or a fill (indicators like OP or Author!Anon should go in the body of the comment).

    4. RPF is allowed. Crossovers, characters from the extended Marvel Universe and comics canon are allowed, but must relate to the 2015 TV show in some way.

    5. Prompts focusing on characters from other Netflix Marvel shows or the comics should go on their respective prompt posts, but crossovers with Daredevil can go here.

    6. Drop a comment on the mod post if you have any questions or problems.

  • Prompts
    1. All types of prompts are welcome.

    2. Use the subject line for the main idea of your prompt (pairing or characters, keywords, kink).

    3. Warnings are nice, but not mandatory. Get DW Blocker if there's anything you really don't want to see.

    4. Reposted prompts are allowed once one round has passed - e.g. prompts from post #2 cannot be reposted until post #4. Please include a link to where it has been previously posted.

  • Fills
    1. When posting a fill, either add [FILL] (or something similar) to the subject line, or change the subject line to the title of your fill.

    2. Announce your fill on either the Completed Fills Post or the WIP Post.

    3. Long fills can either be posted over multiple comments, or posted on AO3 and linked back here.

    4. Multiple fills are always okay.

    5. Fills can be anything! Fic, art and vids are all welcome.

Please post any prompts related to Season 2 of Punisher over on the dedicated Punisher prompt post, and put SPOILERS in the subject line!

Karen makes Fisk suffer

Things didn't go the way they do in the show. Fisk and Vanessa don't get caught. The law isn't interested in prosecuting powerful people. They win against Daredevil, and then they go after Matt. They leave him just barely alive.

I'd like them to suffer, please.

I imagine Karen would be the one to execute revenge. She's both viscious enough and smart enough to do it, and she just recently learnt that she can kill, actually. Feel free to make her Not Stop after she's done. There are many more criminals to catch unsuspecting, after all.

Yup. Only the Punisher does his thing VERY publically and, well, en mass. Also without worrying about who actually did something terrible and who is a 17-year-old from a bad neighborhood that joined a gang for safety and runs errands for a mid-level weed-smuggler.

I think Karen would be much more subtle and tenatious than that. Not a mass-murderer; a serial killer with specific targets whom she investigated and gathered entire files on, that nobody ever sees coming or going.

I honestly think Canon Karen could have been easily taken on that arc (and it would probably be better writing). It's right up her alley. She already broke the boundry to killing. She's the kind of person who wants to "make them pay". She got a bitter taste of just how much you can trust the police and then gets to watch lawyers and journalists dismiss her evidence as "not enough". She can never let go. She's brilliant at investigation (if clumsy; she's new). The only question is what she would do with all the information - and, well, it's not like she had moral hangups when she met Frank.

There’s a fic (part of a looong series) where Vanessa makes life hard for Matt & co, postS3, and there's pretty much nothing they can do (unless they break Matt's deal with Fisk).
Karen goes and kills her. Your prompt made me think of that scene!

But yeah, I agree that she would be more serial killer-like than the Punisher-shoots-everyone type.

Can you get me a link? That sounds interesting :)

Also - oh, my. Doesn't killing her also break the deal, though? Even if Fisk doesn't know it was Karen, he doesn't have a Vanessa to protect anymore. Without her safety on the scales, the deal is completely void, isn't it?

It should he this one! Like I said, though, reeeeeally long series. This is like the 6th story in it!

And yes, the deal is compromised anyway, so next there will be trouble 🔥
[Spoiler alert: the DA might magically get the video of Matt's prison fight scene from S3. Wonder how that happened.]

Microfill

"Who are you?"

Karen doesn't bother answering Vanessa's question; she aims her gun and shoots, hitting Fisk square in the eye. He falls to his knees with a dull thump.

"Should have protected his head," Karen drily comments.

Vanessa's eyes are wide in horror, now. She looks at her dying lover with desperation—Karen thinks she's checking if he has a gun she can take.

Too bad Fisk doesn't.

"You don't have to do this. I could give you anything," Vanessa pleads. She's retreating.

Karen steps ahead. "I don't need much," she admits. "It’s easy, really."

"Tell me."

She still thinks she can get out of this; Karen smirks. "You hurt Matt Murdock," she says slowly. "Now I'm hurting you."

The bullet goes straight through Vanessa's neck, and she doesn't speak anymore.

Karen reaches Fisk and kicks him to the side, slipping her gun under his shirt, directly to his back. She shoots one, two, three times.

They deserved that and more, she thinks when she finally leaves the scene.

Now comes the hard part: going back to the hospital, waiting for good news.

It's hard, but Karen has to believe that Matt will beat this. He'll come back to them; Fisk and Vanessa won't have that chance.

Thank you! This is great, and chilling.

"I don't need much," she admits.

Wow, that some serious writing. I really love that line.

DA: Mini-fill (?) — part 1

(Anonymous) 2024-07-31 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)

Karen watched a lot of true crime documentaries. She watched a lot of human interest interviews with detectives and investigators explaing their work on morning TV.

She didn't do it right away, of course.

First, she installed VPNs and several other cyber-privacy tools, and learned more about IT and tracking than she ever intended. Then she put that knowledge to good use, split away from her laptop's serial number and created three digital identities for herself - because why not be thorough? Why have two when you can have more.

One was Karen Page.

She was a sweet girl from Vermont, who liked cat videos and her friends' Facebook posts. She had embarassing social media photos from high school, and a fuck_you_too email address from her rebelious phase. She was traumatised a little from her last job and devoted to her new one, and she read about how to be a paralegal or a journalist.

Second was Joanne; that was the true crime one.

She was a bored housewife in her late 40s, who looked up diet breakfast recipes, how to make your teenager clean their room, and visited 'divorce lawyer near me' in San Francisco. She daydreamed about taking a college course for forensic science but knew she'll never do it - so after a yet another explosive argument with her son or her husband, she went on obsessive google searches about it, for comfort.

The third was Tom. He was a terrorist.
