This post is for prompts involving characters from Netflix's Daredevil.

Now that The Defenders prompt post is live, all crossovers between anyone in the four individual shows should go over there. Prompts only including characters that appear in Daredevil should still go here.

Rules:

General
1. YKINMKATO. Play nice. Respect others. If you don't like something, scroll on.
2. All comments must be anon. If you would like to be politely banned to avoid anon-failing, leave a logged-in comment on the mod post or pm the mod account.
3. Subject lines should only be changed if you're posting a prompt or a fill (indicators like OP or Author!Anon should go in the body of the comment).
4. RPF is allowed. Crossovers, characters from the extended Marvel Universe and comics canon are allowed, but must relate to the 2015 TV show in some way.
5. Prompts focusing on characters from other Netflix Marvel shows or the comics should go on their respective prompt posts, but crossovers with Daredevil can go here.
6. Drop a comment on the mod post if you have any questions or problems.

Prompts

Yes to hilariousness mixed with angst! It'd be a glorious fic for sure :)

So, question - what age do you prefer the kid to be? Obvious answer is baby, but I'm not convinced. Feels like then she would be more of a prop than character. Anything else comes with its own bucket of problems, though. What do you think?

I wouldn't go for a baby. I'd say someone at least able to talk, I think I'd go for 8-10 years. Of course that requires a backstory for the child, though! Some reason why she's better off with Frank and Matt and not the police/her actual family (if she has one). Maybe she’s an orphan who ran away from the orphanage for X reason? And Matt doesn't have the heart to give her back to the foster system (?).
Random suggestions that came to mind.

Those are some good suggestions, thanks! I was thinking younger than that, but 8 years old works.

I also have another prompt at the back of my mind that I didn't post since it's so similar, but I think with the directions I'm taking here maybe I can. That one involves a teenager, so this is one of the reasons why I look at younger kids here. Check it out and comment? It'll be at the very bottom of the page.

One of my doubts was — we've already had Frank interact with David's kids, who were about this age. So I don't want to do the same thing twice. So now I'm thinking about what to add to this little girl's characteristics that would make it significantly different. Some possibilities come to mind, but nothing quite convinces me yet.

Do you have any ideas?

(Also, is it okay to workshop things with you like this?)

Of course it's alright! I understand wanting to make the kid younger then, maybe even 6?
I think no matter what she'd remind him of Lisa (I'm not sure how much he was around while Lisa grew up, don't really know how the army works. If he wasn't around much, maybe taking care of this child makes him think of all the time he lost?)

I'm not sure how to separate her from David's kids, though (also because my memories of his show are pretty vague)

David's kids were a bit generic (as I remember them), which I actually think was a solid choice story-wise — they're a callback to Frank's own children, so making them distinctive from the crowd of other children their age would be counter-productive.

(And now that I'm trying to write one and paying attention, it's quite remarkable how similar to each other all kids of certain age really seem in an adult's mind. It's slightly disturbing).

So, Leo likes books and Zach is processing losing his dad by being angry. This is pretty much the extent of their character.

Their entire purpose in the story is just to make Frank re-live being a Dad, and let audience watch him be a Dad. So... yeah.

Okay. I have a few ideas, but I'll keep them to myself for now then. More fun in eventual reading if they go through :)

Is there anything you think should be there / not be there in the story? Any requests, ideas?

I'm really curious to see where you go with this!

Frank and Matt's dynamic is very interesting to me, so I'd love to see how they bond while they have to take care of the child. And it might be interesting that while Frank will think of his children, Matt could relate to the child on a more personal level.

The obvious backstory is this is Matt’s child and something happened to the mother so the child came to him.

This solves the problems of them basically kidnapping a kid, and makes it super angst because of Matt’s abandonment issues.

Would he give the kid to someone else and abandon them or would it be enough for him to have the will to live.

Maybe it’s both. He goes up against the mob, has a chance for suicide by mobster and decides to live.

I can't really see Matt having a child (with who, Elektra? A random woman?). Only way he wouldn't have cared for them before would be if he had no idea they existed, for starters. This sudden child acquisition would be quite a shock (and what timing...)
I don't know, this would go in a very different direction than the first minifill started imo (if the child Matt leaves to Frank is his own we're gonna need to have words, Matt), but it could be interesting of course. Let's see what OP thinks.

Matt having a child happens all the time in fandom, so you can kinda take your pick on with whom. There's even a story where he gave birth to a child as a young kid himself, and she finds him when she's grown up. I'm pretty sure it's a 'past trauma knocks on the door' fic.

But, yeah, this prompt is more of a found-baby-in-a-dumpster kind. Matt isn't known for good decisions, so I think technically kidnapping a child is right up his alley :)

Also, feel free to Have Words with him. He did leave his own child to Frank, even if it's a kindapped one.

Yeah, but those fics are already written on AO3. I like the imagery of Matt with semi-metaphorical razor to his arm... and then he hears a cry. It's not Matt that gets a child... it's Daredevil. Black-clad and faceless, or maybe fully armored in the shape straight from hell. About to die, and now with a tiny person in his arms.

And then I heard her. — some things never change. Some things always change you.

I don't think the girl technically not being Matt's makes leaving her with the Punisher any better XD. She pretty much is his own kid, blood relation or no. He left his kid with a mass-murderer.
