(Anonymous) 2016-03-19 03:20 am (UTC)(link)(I'd almost say it was for show - playing up the defenceless blind lawyer thing - except he seemed genuinely embarrassed that his knees collapsed out from under him where Fisk could see it happen).

(Anonymous) 2016-03-19 03:37 am (UTC)(link)But Matt choking and gasping and ineffectually trying to push Fisk away and then almost collapsing when he finally gets to walk away, holy mother of god. Did Matt actually get constantly dommed by everyone this season?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-19 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)I think it was all genuine on Matt's part. He was scared before they even started talking, and from there it just all kept getting worse for him.
Fisk really, really grew into himself as Kingpin(!!!) and he 100% became the evil mastermind villain he was learning to be in S1. It was an impressive piece of character development. Which is funny, because he wasn't even the focus this season! Anyway, I was pleased they followed through on his Good Samaritan speech last season. I wasn't completely sold on how much of a threat he was supposed to be in S1, but now I can definitely see it happening. He is the arch-nemesis for Daredevil now.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-21 08:55 am (UTC)(link)But like in hindsight, now I'm just super excited about it. Hot damn. Fisk just like, hauling him up and Matt punches him and Fisk is like "oh, a boxer's son, of course" I just ... hnnnngggghhh ...
Fisk threatening Foggy and Matt FREAKING OUT. I can't.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-21 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)That scene gave me LIFE, anon, you have no idea! Matt/Fisk/(Vanessa) is one of my guilty-pleasure badwrong ships, which I thought had essentially sunk by the end of last season, so I was happy when they showed Fisk in prison, and then E L A T E D when I realized that Matthew Michael Murdock was stupid enough to want to poke that hornet's nest himself. *happy flailing*
ermagerd, also, I keep staring at Matt's hand during the part where he tries to claw at Fisk's face. Not the hand that goes after his face, but the one that's fisted in the material of his jumpsuit at the collar. It's such a helpless action and I just.... I am trashy with trashy needs. >D

(Anonymous) 2016-03-21 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)(I mean, just imagine. Fisk is so large, Matt can't move, tells himself over and over it's for Foggy, all for Foggy. Then when he tries to calm down and breathe through the pain Fisk's large hand presses down on his throat, pinning him and cutting his air supply at the same time. Matt goes pink, gasps, writhes, quickly losing strength, but the more he struggles the harder Fisk gets.)

(Anonymous) 2016-03-23 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)I mean, let's say that everyone knew Matt = Daredevil in that scene, giving Matt the option to fight back. He might've tried to punch Fisk a couple other times (iirc, he got one sucker punch in and then tried to scratch at his eye), and the two of them would have been 1000x more violent, but I think Fisk would have still kicked his ass.
So yeah, not completely helpless, but without the aid of his weapons and reinforced suit Matt's definitely at a disadvantage.
(In fact, I think the forced helplessness of knowing he couldn't fight back without giving himself away is a biiiig part of why Matt was so upset at the end of their 'meeting.' Not to mention the threat to Foggy)

(Anonymous) 2016-03-23 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)The forced helplessness reeeeeally did it for me, ngl.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-23 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)To me, I feel like it was supposed to be another nail in the coffin of Matt's 'normal life' away from Daredevil. In S1, he put Fisk in jail through a combination of legal work and being DD. In S2, he's neglecting the lawyer side of his life, growing disillusioned with it, with Elektra tempting him deeper and deeper into the DD side of his life. He visits Fisk, and he gets a very real demonstration of just how powerless Matt Murdock the lawyer is against somebody like that, with a nice side dish of putting people in jeopardy just for being associated with him. So it's another nudge into being more DD than lawyer, and another nudge to isolate himself from his friends.
