Fuck me sideways, I think I might have played back the part where Matt nearly collapsed after standing from where Fisk threw him onto the chair about 50 times. That whole scene was amazing, I would like 500 more.

(I'd almost say it was for show - playing up the defenceless blind lawyer thing - except he seemed genuinely embarrassed that his knees collapsed out from under him where Fisk could see it happen).

That whole scene scared the crap out of me so bad, it was so unexpected, and I was terrified that Fisk was going to strangle Matt right there on the desk like he did with Ben Urich.

But Matt choking and gasping and ineffectually trying to push Fisk away and then almost collapsing when he finally gets to walk away, holy mother of god. Did Matt actually get constantly dommed by everyone this season?

We'd better get that Born Again storyline adapted for Netflix. If that scene was any indication it's gonna be beautiful.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-19 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
mate I replayed that scene so many times it's embarrassing. Even going in Matt looks somewhat scared, but by the end of it.... and the way he was panting even when he got outside I'd say that fall was very much not for show.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE NONNIE

my boner can be seen from motherfucking space

That was an incredible scene. Easily one of my favourites.

I think it was all genuine on Matt's part. He was scared before they even started talking, and from there it just all kept getting worse for him.

Fisk really, really grew into himself as Kingpin(!!!) and he 100% became the evil mastermind villain he was learning to be in S1. It was an impressive piece of character development. Which is funny, because he wasn't even the focus this season! Anyway, I was pleased they followed through on his Good Samaritan speech last season. I wasn't completely sold on how much of a threat he was supposed to be in S1, but now I can definitely see it happening. He is the arch-nemesis for Daredevil now.

THIS. RN all I want is for Fisk to go after Matt (not DD) with everything he has and get to the point of finally killing him and then surprise, PUNISHER. I really want that to be Frank's redemption line, that he might be a mass murderer of bad guys but he keeps showing up long enough to rescue his Red when he really needs it. Because Frank knows DD is Matt Murdock now, and the warning was laid out, the next time Fisk and Frank meet, somebody's going to die.

You should request this on the prompt post bc that is something I want too

"his Red"

I'm dying you have killed me

(Anonymous) 2016-03-21 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Is it confirmed that Frank definitely knows Matt is Daredevil? I missed that. (That's fabulous if true, though!)

(Anonymous) 2016-03-21 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Not officially confirmed, but he saw Matt fighting without a mask in the final battle. Even from as far away as he was, he was using a sniper scope so it'd be really surprising if he hadn't seen Matt's face. So if he hadn't figured it out by then, I imagine he'd know after that. However, we didn't hear him say anything like "Matt Murdock is Daredevil", so I'll happily be reading fics where he does or doesn't know and enjoying both scenarios. ;)

Excuse me while I ROLL IN THIS PROMPT. ....you did prompt it, right? Because if not, you need to. So very much.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-21 08:55 am (UTC)(link)
When I saw it the first time I screamed so loudly my roommate ran upstairs, convinced our other roommate was murdering me. I was just so shocked and terrified.

But like in hindsight, now I'm just super excited about it. Hot damn. Fisk just like, hauling him up and Matt punches him and Fisk is like "oh, a boxer's son, of course" I just ... hnnnngggghhh ...

Fisk threatening Foggy and Matt FREAKING OUT. I can't.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-21 12:49 pm (UTC)(link)
It's canon now: Fisk likes it when they fight back. Kitty's got claws, it excites him.

DA -

That scene gave me LIFE, anon, you have no idea! Matt/Fisk/(Vanessa) is one of my guilty-pleasure badwrong ships, which I thought had essentially sunk by the end of last season, so I was happy when they showed Fisk in prison, and then E L A T E D when I realized that Matthew Michael Murdock was stupid enough to want to poke that hornet's nest himself. *happy flailing*

ermagerd, also, I keep staring at Matt's hand during the part where he tries to claw at Fisk's face. Not the hand that goes after his face, but the one that's fisted in the material of his jumpsuit at the collar. It's such a helpless action and I just.... I am trashy with trashy needs. >D

(Anonymous) 2016-03-21 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Matt himself lives out of dumpsters, anon, we're just following suit.

(I mean, just imagine. Fisk is so large, Matt can't move, tells himself over and over it's for Foggy, all for Foggy. Then when he tries to calm down and breathe through the pain Fisk's large hand presses down on his throat, pinning him and cutting his air supply at the same time. Matt goes pink, gasps, writhes, quickly losing strength, but the more he struggles the harder Fisk gets.)

Oh hell yeah. That scene, coupled with his interactions with Frank, hitting him and Frank hitting back and them just doing that until Fisk was satisfied ... oh wow. *fans self*

(Anonymous) 2016-03-23 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
It's his breathing right? Matt bloodies Fisk's mouth and Fisk's breathing changes a little, he gets excited, and just shakes Matt harder. Is it wrong that I really wanted to watch Matt struggling helplessly while Fisk menaces him for the whole hour? Uh my god I'm such a sinner...

So what do nonnies think is tthe implication of this scene? That with his suit and batons, doing flips 'n shits, Matt can take Fisk; but once stripped to his lovely normal self Matt is completely helpless against Fisk's brute strength? Granted Fisk also had the element of surprise + psychological upperhand there, but lbr, doesn't he always (or most of the time)?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-23 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the implication is that Fisk is a scary motherfucker, much larger and stronger than Matt, and that Matt was genuinely disturbed by the encounter?

I mean, let's say that everyone knew Matt = Daredevil in that scene, giving Matt the option to fight back. He might've tried to punch Fisk a couple other times (iirc, he got one sucker punch in and then tried to scratch at his eye), and the two of them would have been 1000x more violent, but I think Fisk would have still kicked his ass.

So yeah, not completely helpless, but without the aid of his weapons and reinforced suit Matt's definitely at a disadvantage.

(In fact, I think the forced helplessness of knowing he couldn't fight back without giving himself away is a biiiig part of why Matt was so upset at the end of their 'meeting.' Not to mention the threat to Foggy)

(Anonymous) 2016-03-23 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
+1

The forced helplessness reeeeeally did it for me, ngl.

DA

To me, I feel like it was supposed to be another nail in the coffin of Matt's 'normal life' away from Daredevil. In S1, he put Fisk in jail through a combination of legal work and being DD. In S2, he's neglecting the lawyer side of his life, growing disillusioned with it, with Elektra tempting him deeper and deeper into the DD side of his life. He visits Fisk, and he gets a very real demonstration of just how powerless Matt Murdock the lawyer is against somebody like that, with a nice side dish of putting people in jeopardy just for being associated with him. So it's another nudge into being more DD than lawyer, and another nudge to isolate himself from his friends.
