Matt/Foggy, baker Foggy adopts Matt's kid

(Anonymous) 2015-05-09 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
Foggy doesn't become a butcher. Instead he becomes a baker and eventually adopts a kid who's adorable and clever and has an awful temper. One day Foggy meets the biological father, Matt, who had only just found out that one of his flings in college resulted in a child.

Matt quickly becomes his best friend. The kid doesn't take to Matt as easily though.

Gimme all the family drama and domestic fluff. And maybe bad guys coming after Foggy and the kid to get to Matt?

FILL: rejoicing in justice alone (1/2)

(anon, I am so, so, sorry, this has so little to do with your prompt; in my defense someone looked at this and said ANGELS CHOKING ON THEIR HALOS and I went OH, NO and this was the result. please accept my sincerest apologies and also holy water)

You learn to stop loving the summer nights.

You're quick-twitching, lightning-veined, moving from rooftop to rooftop like there's springs in your heels. (You've heard of another man, another legend with something like that in his name—but that's a different city, a different story, and you're not the villain of this one, you're not, you're not.)

You learn to stop loving the summer nights, because they're the buzzcrackle of light, they're electric and brilliant and strung across the rivershore like Heaven itself has built its kingdom on this island; they're places where the sun has gone down but hasn't quite died, where the light is vanished but the heat remains. They're places where the city is full up with warmth, and laughter, and love, love, love—

But when it's cold there's fewer men in alleys; when it's cold there are fewer muggings, fewer gunshots. When it's cold the city is quiet. You can go for hours without moving from your post, curled up on a fire escape, huffing wet warm steam onto your fingers.

You learn to stop loving the summer nights. After a while.

This night is a warm night, and there's a man with a knife. Later, there's a man without a knife. You throw the knife into a corner – you've got no use for it – and throw the man into another, unconscious and bound. You'll take him to the police station later, before he wakes up. For now, the city's wide, there's places to be—

There's someone standing behind you.

His breathing's slow, regular; his heartbeat's a dull, steady thump. You didn't hear him come into the alley. You must've been distracted by the man with the knife.

He says, "Hello."

You're already in motion.

First to him—kick to kneecaps, again to solar plexus, chop to throat—then fire escape, brick, up, away. One rooftop, another; you decide to make your way down after those two, use a drainpipe to guide your way along the brick to the ground.

He's there.

There's breathing, heavy. His heart is hammering in his chest. He says, “Don't run away. Please—I just want to talk to you.”

You say, "Who are you."

He says, "A friend. I swear."

Boots scrape on cement; he's fairly light, tall. He's gotten his breath back quicker than you'd expected. “A friend,” he says again. “I promise.”

"I don't have friends I've never met before," you say.

"Then I'm your first," he says. "Really, I'm not here to hurt you. I'm just here to talk."

He's close enough to touch you, now. You take a step back. "So talk.”

He says, “I'm a businessman. I have a proposition for you. No,” he must have seen you tense, “no, I know you've had dealings with certain businessmen. I'm not with them. I'm not," and the shape of his vowels changes, a smile. "I'm not like them. I hope so, anyway. I've been operating in Hell's Kitchen for years. I don't have grandiose dreams for it. I'm certainly not running an organized crime ring.”

“I'm glad to hear it,” you say, dry.

“I'm glad you're glad,” he says. “Maybe you're glad enough that you won't try to break my knees again?” There's a laugh in his voice.

“We'll see,” you say.

"All right," he says, "fair enough. I did startle you.” He pauses; you can feel him looking at you. “It's a nice night – I'd hate to spend it hiding in an alley. How about we walk and talk?”

You take alleys, side streets, keep out of sight as much as you can. Your new friend moves quick; no matter how much you hasten the pace, he never seems winded. Your mind flickers to how quickly he made it from one alley to another—he certainly didn't follow you over the rooftops. He must be faster than you. How much faster, you don't know.

“How did you know where to find me,” you say.

He snorts a little laugh. “Who says I did? For all you know I've been standing around in likely alleyways for the last three months.”

“Then you wanted to find me very badly.”

“Badly enough,” he admits. “I admire your work. I think you—” He pauses, sighs. “I like your philosophy. The hands-on attitude of it all. Doing what you believe to be right in a meaningful way. You're the kind of person I'd like to know better.”

“Why?”

“Because you seem like a good connection? Because I might want to work with you in the future? Because I'd like to get to know you better, I suppose,” and there's a little laugh, warm and self-deprecating. "Because I like you. Who doesn't like you, at this point? You're doing good. Everyone wants to be friends someone who's doing good.”

You've reached the river; you can hear it lapping against the sand. There's a strip along the shore where two people can walk together, and you turn onto it. “So you want to make a business connection.”

“Sure, if you want to ignore all those nice compliments I just paid you,” he says. “A business connection.”

The night is warm; next to the water, the air is humid. You can hear cars rushing past on the highway. Somewhere behind them, someone is probably screaming.

“So what do you want from me,” you say.

“Only a small thing,” he says. "Nothing that'll cost you anything. In the future, maybe, we can figure out something more. Right now, though, my priority is to find out if we have interests in common. To see if I can do anything for you.

“Do anything for me,” you say.

“I want,” the man says, “to make a deal.”

You're silent.

“The deal is this,” the man says. “I have certain—skills. They allow me to place Hell's Kitchen under a certain level of protection.”

Your shoulders stiffen. “You are a mob boss.”

“No!” he says. “No, certainly not. Not that sort of protection. Not the kind where I keep every criminal away except those in my pocket.” He sniffs. “Under my protection there would be no crime at all. No muggers, no junkies. No hired thugs showing up to smash in the walls of good women.”

“You can't promise that,” you say.

“I assure you,” he says, “I can.”

“How,” you say. “You have a private army? You have senators in your pocket? You station thugs on every street corner?”

The man pauses for a long few moments. “I suppose you saw a lot of—unusual things, when the aliens came out of the sky,” he says, eventually.

You let the saw slide. “Yes,” you say. “Yes, I did.”

“All right,” says the man. “Then think of me as—unusual protection. And trust me, I will be just as effective as the aliens were.”

“And what would you ask in return,” you say, sharp and sarcastic. “Only a few million dollars? Only a seat on the city council? Only a deal for your friends to have the ear of the New York Senate—”

“Nothing so petty,” he says, insulted. “Nothing like that at all. More of—a contract. A symbolic bargain. I would agree to put Hell's Kitchen under my protection, and in return you would agree to—” He hums, low.

“Agree to?” you say.

“Well,” he says, “as a symbol, you understand—to give it to me, I suppose. To pass it formally from your ownership to mine. So that my protection can be real and complete.”

“I don't own this city,” you say, genuinely surprised.

A small snort of laughter from the man. “You'd be shocked how these things are figured.”

“And this is part of your—unusual protection? Owning the city?” You hear him clear his throat, hold your hand up. “As a symbol. You said that part”

“It is,” he says. “Part of the rules—I didn't make them. You'd have to hand it over to me. And then, when I owned it, I'd be able to make it as safe as you wanted. No murders, no robberies, no junkies shooting up on street corners.”

“I'd be out of a job,” you say.

“Well, you'd think you'd want to be out of a job,” says the man, sounding mildly astonished. “It doesn't seem like the kind of job you'd like to do forever. It's not as if there's particularly good publicity—I still remember the newspapers from last year.” He pauses. “And—with all due respect—it's not as if you're a particularly effective solution to this problem.”

You don't say anything.

“Or,” says the man, and now he's a little closer to you on the path, as you walk. “Or, if you would like, there could be a place for you even after the city was under my protection. You could keep on doing what you do now. More effectively, even. We'd have to put it into the contract somehow—you'd work at my behest, I suppose, or you'd exchange ownership of yourself along with the city—but it could work.”

“Go back to ownership of the city,” you say. “You said I'd be surprised at how it was figured. How is it figured? How can I own it? Doesn't it own itself?”

There's a long pause from the man. Then he says, “Think of it as—oh, think of it like this, if it's easier. My beloved is mine, and I am his; he browses among the lilies.

You can't speak.

“Or, ah, among the hot dog stands,” says the man. “As it were.”

For some time, the only noise is your footsteps on the path along the river. The wind's cooled; the air is muggy, hot and still. You listen to the man's heartbeat, next to yours. It's steady and strong. Either he's telling the truth, or he believes himself so strongly that it doesn't matter.

“How long have you been looking for me?” you say. “Standing around in alleyways.”

“I've been looking for someone like you a long, long time,” he says. “Longer than you'd believe.”

“And you want me to hand over this city to you? I don't even know your name.”

“I usually make people guess, traditionally speaking,” he says, and laughs. “But it's not as if my name has very much to do with our deal, does it? Either I can keep this city safe or I can let it go. That's up to you.” He pauses. “And you do want to keep it safe. Don't you?”

You do.

“Good,” he says, though you've said nothing. “Good, I thought so.” There's a pause. “Shall we shake on it?”

He must be holding his hand out. You extend yours—

Blinded Foggy

(Anonymous) 2015-05-09 09:09 am (UTC)(link)
Something where Foggy is blinded, temporarily or otherwise, (my preference would be for temporary but with him not actually knowing that til it comes back, but writer's choice) and he is obviously absolutely terrified but is pretending to be okay becuase he doesn't want to imply that there is anything wrong with having a disability because he thinks that would be insulting to Matt. Like if he shows how freaked out he is, that implies that he pities Matt or something equally ridiculous. And Matt obviously knows what's really in his head, not only because of his abilities but because he has been through this himself and Foggy has every right to feel what he is feeling. So this might lead to Matt feeling guilty because for a start he knows he's a lot better off than the average blind person and also because he feels like he is getting in thr way of Foggy dealing with this in the way he should.

Basically a whole lot of angst, a large dollop of friendship and slash if that's your preference.

Oh, and bonus points for Matt teaching Foggy how to do stuff. Simple everyday stuff like keeping his hand low to the table when picking up his drink do he doesn't knock it everywhere, or folding his money in his wallet so he can tell which note is which because American bank notes are all identical if you can't see them.

(gen) Matt & Foggy, touching

(Anonymous) 2015-05-09 11:20 am (UTC)(link)
I just want Matt and Foggy being bros who are super comfortable being physical with each other (started in college by necessity since Matt can't see Foggy smiling at him so he hugs him instead or something). Like hugging or sitting too close to each other to the point others are like 'guys what' but they don't care.

IDK I just really want platonic bro-touching yeah?

(Bonus points if Matt's unsure about it at first because no one's actually hugged him since his Dad but it's Foggy and Foggy is a ray of sunshine so)

Matt/Any, careful and gentle sex while injured

Somebody over at FFA asked for fic recs, and NNNNGH: Do you have any recs for Matt trying to have sex when he's probably way too injured to be having sex? Very gentle, very careful blow jobs or something? I don't care about pairing, but I'd rather he be with someone other than whoever hurt him, if that makes sense.

Please oh god somebody write it it would be so hot.

Brett, Being one of the good guys

(Anonymous) 2015-05-09 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm just going to keep prompting about minor characters because I love them all, every single one of them.

So--how does Brett feel about the events of the first season? He's a cop, but he's a good cop who's discovered that most of the people he interacted with are dirty and who is one of the few people who's been around Daredevil and been comparatively treated gently. I want more about him. I want more about his friends, about his relationship with his mom, about his weird enemy mine relationship with Foggy, about his life. Also I want him to be happy. Maybe he has a girl at home? A guy? In conclusion, BRETT.

Matt, focusing on one sound means he can't hear anything else

(Anonymous) 2015-05-09 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
you know how in episode three Matt tunes in to listen to Wesley's watch? and how everything else gets muffled? to me that seems like a good way for Matt to get hurt, tbh. if he'd have tried to cross a road at the time he could've easily been hit by a car. or to a lesser degree, just tripped over something, or knocked into someone etc. etc.

so basically i want something about how when Matt is focusing in on one thing/sense the others are less refined and he ends up hurting himself.

Re: Matt, focusing on one sound means he can't hear anything else

(Anonymous) 2015-05-09 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)

Five times Foggy noticed Matt's anger issues

(Anonymous) 2015-05-09 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
what it says on the tin. can be shippy or not, doesn't even have to be a five times fic, i just want Foggy's POV of Matt's anger issues -like when Claire is kidnapped and he throws a chair, for example, maybe something like that at college, idk!

(MINI) FILL: Cocked Pistol

(Anonymous) 2015-05-09 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
A/N: Not five times, but it's something.

+

Matt's usually cool as a cucumber, all charming smiles and pleasantries, which is why the first time Foggy actually sees him angry, it's kind of a surprise. Like, a major, major surprise.

Because Matt's high-strung and the child of a boxer, sure, and he actually goes to the gym, unlike Foggy, but Foggy always figured that Matt was the type of guy who's almost aggressive but never quite gets to the point of his anger boiling over, even though sometimes he gets angry and there's something about the way his jaw clenches and his hands white-knuckle his cane that makes Foggy uncomfortable.

The first time Foggy sees Matt really go off, it's because of a phone call that Foggy doesn't hear the other end of. Matt's voice is tight during it, all "oh, okay" and "thank you for informing me" and "no, it's fine, I understand" but it's when he hangs up the phone and puts it down on his desk loudly that Foggy notices that Matt's started breathing deeply, the kind of breathing that people do when they're counting to ten and it's not working.

Matt sucks in a gasping breath, and Foggy realizes that nope, he's never actually seen Matt angry. Matt stands up, bracing himself against his desk, shoulders heaving up and down, trying to get himself under control.

"Fuck," Matt says to himself. "Fuck, fuck, fuck!" he raises his voice on the last one and bangs his hand against his desk.

"Woah, Matt, buddy," Foggy says, thoroughly freaked out. "Calm down, take deep breaths, it's fine--"

Matt lets out a sound that might be a snarl and grabs the lamp on his desk, picks it up, and throws it to the ground.

"Jesus, Matt!" Foggy says as the lamp's lightbulb shatters against the floor.

Matt turns on his heel towards Foggy's voice, and Foggy moves back because he's honestly never felt scared of Matt before. "I swear to fucking God," he's saying to himself, or rather, to someone who isn't in the room at the moment. "I swear to fucking God, I will claw your eyes out, asshole, I will skin you alive and I will laugh!" On the last word he actually lashes out, clearly wanting to hit something, and puts his fist through Foggy's full-length mirror.

"Matt!" Foggy yells from his place jammed against the wall as far away from the nuclear meltdown going on in his room as possible. "Fuck, Matt!"

The pain seems to mostly snap Matt out of it, and his chest is heaving and he raises a shaking hand to the fist he hit the mirror with. "I'm bleeding," he says.

"Yeah," Foggy says. "Yeah, not actually surprising. Jesus, Matt."

"I thought it was the wall," Matt explains. "I thought I was going to hit the wall."

"How would that possibly have been better?"

Matt stumbles towards his bed and sits down heavily. "Sorry," he says. "About your mirror. About..." He lets out a short, humorless laugh. "All this."

"Matt," Foggy says. "Matt, this isn't...that wasn't...you're bleeding. What the hell was that about?"

"I just..." Matt says, and then he cuts himself off. "I just got mad," he explains.

Foggy leans against the wall, too freaked out to actually go over and sit next to Matt, too aware of the fact that Matt was strong enough to smash that mirror almost completely and mangle his lamp and just--"You got mad," Foggy says, feeling out of breath, like he just ran for miles. "No kidding. No kidding."

On the other side of the room, Matt's breath evens out.

Matt/Foggy, brainwashed Foggy

(Anonymous) 2015-05-09 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Matt's enemies abduct Foggy with the intent to brainwash him and turn him against Matt, but Foggy brainwashed does not make for a particularly impressive assassin.

However, broken and morally numb, he easily orchestrates their very final down fall. All with a manically cheerful and affable demeanor.

Throughout all that, Matt does his best to bring Foggy back home.

Matt and Foggy - lifting Mjolnir

(Anonymous) 2015-05-09 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Saw this headcanon on tumblr and thought it was cute:

"So after some time Avengers would make a lifting a Mjolnir one of the main attractions on their parties. So the other characters from MCU - you know, agents of SHIELD, Guardians of the Galaxy, Defenders…. - would be tried in this “discipline”.

At some point there will be Daredevil’s turn. Matt and Foggy will try to lift the hammer together and maybe even manage to put it up above one inch or two (however, only if they will do it together).

BUT FIRST!

But first they will be debating with Avengers on what traits constitute the worthiness of being able to lifting Mjolnir. And maybe it will be the first time Avengers ever asked ourselves this question."

Matt & Friends, Stick - "Friends are a weakness"

(Anonymous) 2015-05-09 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Stick comes back to Hell's Kitchen and needs Matt for another mission. He's still a dick and gives his whole "Friends/comfort are a weakness" spiel. Only this time he meets Foggy/Karen/Claire and realizes that Matt's friends actually make him stronger.

+++ if Matt/Claire
+++ if Matt's friends don't buy Stick's BS and totally chew him out
+++ if Matt's friends somehow help save the day (inadvertently or purposefully)
+++ just lots of Team Daredevil feels!!!

Matt has Non-24-Hour Disorder

(Anonymous) 2015-05-09 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd like a fic about Matt dealing with Circadian Sleep Condition, which a lot of blind people with no light perception experience.

For reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lA99NDVx1jA

Re: Matt has Non-24-Hour Disorder

(Anonymous) 2015-05-09 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
this would explain how he's able to stay up at night, if his sleep pattern is fucked. I now also desire this.
seconded!

Past(ish) Fisk/Wesley, Fisk/Vanessa : The Wine Is A Message

(Anonymous) 2015-05-09 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Fisk and Wesley were in a romantic relationship back when Fisk was still rising to power, but maintained a Client/Assistant relationship for Fisk's image. The reason it's worked for so long is because Fisk promised, and keeps promising, they can be together once he's at the top/fixes the city. However, while Wesley is still completely devoted to Fisk, Fisk begins to treat him more and more like just an assistant/tool for his success. Maybe he reasserts the promise every now and then to keep Wesley devoted?

Fast forward: Fisk has been with women a couple times before, but Wesley can tell Vanessa is different. Give me a fic where the wines Wesley recommends connect to significant moments in their relationship that they both remember. Bonus if:
*Remembered wine-scenes range from their very beginnings to the breaking in their relationship.
**Fisk pretends not to notice the significance, but alludes to meaning in conversation with Vanessa.
*****Fisk turns on Wesley like an underling/ hurts him at some point and apologizes too late to fix it/poorly (or not at all.)

Doesn't have to involve sex or anything, but OP is open to anything you want to include.

UGH why would you hurt me like this, anon? this is a great prompt but ow, my heart.

Vanessa/Wesley/Fisk, surrogacy/cuckolding/voyeurism

(Anonymous) 2015-05-10 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Vanessa and Fisk want children, but Fisk is impotent. They ask Wesley to help out of course, but to everyone's surprise the process turns out to be much sexier than they anticipated and they spend the whole weekend in bed "just to be sure". Fisk is a rapt audience watching his two favorite people, and Vanessa and Wesley /put on such a show/.

Matt, Bipolar

(Anonymous) 2015-05-10 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Inspired by the above Bipolar-Foggy prompt, I would give my kingdom for a fic starring bipolar Matt.

crackfic prompt: kid!Matt on Nickelodeon's Double Dare

(Anonymous) 2015-05-10 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
I accidentally typed "Devildare" instead of "Daredevil" then spent a good three minutes giggling about the idea of Matt having been on the Nickelodeon TV show Double Dare demolishing all of his opponents and nobody can figure it out because isn't this kid supposed to be blind?

(For those of you who don't know, Double Dare was a show in the late 80s/early 90s that was a combination trivia & physical challenges. References: http://nickelodeon.wikia.com/wiki/Double_Dare and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3VD95RIn-4)

It could be a dream sequence, it could be Foggy and Matt (post-Foggy finding out) hypothesizing about how Matt could secretly demolish at it, it could be someone recognizing Matt and him panicking for a minute but they actually recognize him from seeing him in an old episode.

BRING ON THE CRACK, PLS.

Karen, Gen or /any, bipolar

(Anonymous) 2015-05-10 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Author of the previous prompt here? Realized while I would give my kingdom for bipolar!Matt, I'd give an entire continent for bipolar!Karen*.

Like, does she try to hide it from Foggy and Matt (and if so, does Matt smell and recognize the meds she takes?)? How do they find out? How do they help her deal with it-does Matt teach her boxing as a positive way of dealing with anger or self-harming urges? Does she have cognitive issues during episodes-and maybe Foggy buys her a key dish so she doesn't lose her keys, or texts her in the evenings on bad days/weeks so she remembers to eat?

Give me Karen dealing with her mental illness like a boss and slowly letting her newfound family in, realizing it doesn't have to be humiliating to let them help.

(TMI time: I've just recently been diagnosed (in my mid-to-late twenties), despite having presented symptoms from a young age, as my parents are religious fundamentalists who had...issues with the topic of mental illness due to their religious beliefs). Karen stated her parents were religious. Is this one of the reasons she has a strained relationship with them? Has she even told them? I just want all the Karen basically)

Re: Karen, Gen or /any, bipolar

(Anonymous) 2015-05-10 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
OP of the bipolar Foggy prompt again. TMI: I was recently diagnosed as bipolar II (at nineteen, though) and so yeah, anon. Yeah.

Paralegal Karen

(Anonymous) 2015-05-10 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Karen isn't interested in the student debt and drama required for law school and passing. But between night classes, online classes, and Matt & Foggy's encouragement, she becomes Team Avocado's best damn paralegal!

Matt/Claire - Matt turns on the charm

(Anonymous) 2015-05-10 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
After Claire tells Matt she can't fall in love with his vigilante self, he decides to try to woo her Murdock-style. I would just love to see Matt being the incredibly charming lawyer he is, and directing that charm at Claire, with her totally losing her resolve. You can only resist Matt Murdock taking you on dates and bringing you coffee at hour ten of your 14 hour hospital shift for so long, after all.

Porn is great(!), but not required.

Bonus: Matt "clumsily" spills something on his shirt, so he of course he has to take it off, meanwhile claire is just like ugh this stupid hot motherfucker.
