Rules:
  • General
    1. YKINMKATO. Play nice. If you don't like something, scroll on.

    2. All comments must be anon. If you would like to be politely banned to avoid anon-failing, leave a logged-in comment on the mod post or pm the mod account.

    3. IP Logging is currently on. Only the mod can see them, and the mod will only be paying attention to them when threads turn wanky and she wants to identify comments made by the same person.

    4. Subject lines should only be changed if you're posting a prompt or a fill (indicators like OP or Author!Anon should go in the body of the comment).

    5. RPF is allowed. Crossovers, characters from the extended Marvel Universe (excluding characters from Jessica Jones) and comics canon are allowed, but must relate to the 2015 TV show in some way.

    6. Prompts involving characters from Jessica Jones (including crossovers with Daredevil characters or the extended MCU) must go on the Jessica Jones Prompt Post.

    7. Prompts that are exclusively about the comics should go on the Comics Prompt Post.

    8. Discussion not related to the prompt should be moved to the discussion/off-topic post.

    9. Drop a comment on the mod post if you have any questions or problems.

  • Prompts
    1. All types of prompts are welcome.

    2. Use the subject line for the main idea of your prompt (pairing or characters, keywords, kink).

    3. Warnings are nice, but not mandatory. Get DW Blocker if there's anything you really don't want to see.

    4. Reposted prompts are allowed once one round has passed - i.e., prompts from post #2 cannot be reposted until post #4. Please include a link to where it has been previously posted.

  • Fills
    1. Put [FILL] or something similar in the subject line when posting a fill.

    2. Announce your fill on either the Completed Fills Post or the WIP Post.

    3. Long fills can either be posted over multiple comments, or posted on AO3 and linked back here.

    4. Multiple fills are always okay.

    5. Fills can be anything! Fic, art and vids are all welcome.

    6. If it wasn't written specifically for the prompt, it doesn't count as a fill. You are welcome to provide a link to already existing fic that does fit the prompt, in case the prompter hasn't seen it, but it doesn't count as a fill.

oh god yes. It's not even just silver age, I still can't get over his weird, WEIRD new no-mask suit in the most recent issue on Unlimited XD

Rest assured that outfit gets torn to pieces after a few issues. I love that dumb thing though. I can't get over that Matt moved out to Gay Mecca San Francisco and proceeded to become as gaudy and flamboyant as possible. I love him so much.

Also the one I linked isn't Silver Age it's also from the age of Serious Comics. Ann Nocenti's run who was right after Frank Miller.

Just looked it up to cite and literally opened the exact right comic based on my vague idea of where it happened sort of between major plotlines. I am kind of proud of myself. Vol 1 #251, 1988. This one is actually on Unlimited so you can check it out yourself if you want! Nocenti is my second favorite Daredevil writer after Bendis.

hah, i was actually less concerned about the suit and more like NOOOOOOO about the loss of his luscious locks - why Matt why. Close-cropped doesn't suit you nearly as much. XD And I'll have to look up that plot line! Currently I'm somewhere around issue #78 of Bendis' run ("The Murdock Papers") where I actually sometimes have to laugh out loud just how comically *rotten* Matt's luck is sometimes (like, seriously, one page he gets Milla back and the next page, the VERY NEXT PAGE, Kingpin outs him to all the tabloids. I'm pretty sure somewhere in the Marvel universe the gods are laughing their heads off.) What makes Bendis your favourite writer? I am completely and utterly in love with Waid, because the situations he puts his characters in are always so original in between the adventures (a day at the zoo and a day at the fair - yay for downtime! :D), and he shows off all their little quirks (like, sometimes, just a little panel of Foggy in between, grumbling over writing Matt's biography), and the detailed ways he shows off Matt's unique perspective on the world and of course the way Matt is allowed to have *fun* in between, to show off and everything! And that there's serious, completely unrelated to DD plot lines going on, like Foggy having cancer. And the humour, like Kirstie having her *own* arch enemy and making fun of Matt for immediately assuming the guy is after *him*. :3

DA

Thank GODS I'm not the only one who went all BUT WHYYY DDD: when Matt cut his hair. Really? Like, I know you're blind and can't see your reflection, but DUDE. Foggy or Kirsten would have told you that it's a SHIT LOOK.

Mark Waid is my hero for making me fall in love with the Daredevil book. I cried real tears at his last issue, because DAMN I WANT THIS BOOK TO STAY WAID-ESQUE FOREVER.

I think I like Bendis the most because I found his writing to be consistently engaging, I really loved the aesthetic with both the art and the moody writing, and I dunno, he was the first run by a writer on Daredevil that I read through start to finish because it was recced to me as a great place to start. After reading quite a lot of Daredevil it still strikes me also as the run that is closest to the show in tone.

Waid is a great writer and I think the back half of volume three and all of volume 4 are brilliant. But the beginning of volume 3 is just a mess and Foggy leaving Matt over being psychotic is both OOC and the portrayal of this as something that would automatically make Matt terrible and violent is kind of......messed up with regards to his historical precedent in the comics of having repeated episodes of psychosis and mostly being a real danger to himself rather than others. Puts a really bad taste in my mouth.

Ann Nocenti is my other fave and I love her because she was hired right after Frank Miller and she literally wrote all her issues as if every one was her last one. She writes Matt as an ally to the poor and disenfranchised and also her plots are just...alternate between bonkers and super dark and affecting. Sometimes both at once. God I love that run.

I think it just all comes down to taste tbh. One thing for sure though I never really shipped Comics!Foggy and Comics!Matt before Waid and holy hell did he make me ship them in late volume 3 and 4.

Well. And when you take into account all his talk about not hinding behind secret identities and staying true to yourself and not lying... :D
