OP here! I loved this so, so much! It's exactly what I was looking for, and I deeply appreciate you taking the time to write this for me. It's so many things I love all rolled up together and I just adore it! :)

(Sorry that I'm lacking anything more substancial to say, work was Hell today and I'm competely wiped out. Actually, this lovely little suprise was just the pick me up I needed after the day I had!)

That whole show is amazing for Catholic-guilt-induced-arousal. Everyone is attractive and has beautiful sex. Or tension. There is ... so much great stuff. Name your kink, they probably do something that'll appeal to you.

I highly recommend the show. Same team that did the Tudors and I like it even MORE than I liked the Tudors.

But yeah, if we're talking "Catholic guilt and sexytimes" there's no better source of inspiration than Showtime's The Borgias.

So Matt develops type I diabetes somewhere in adulthood. Law school? Internship? When he starts Daredevil-ing? I don't care. But he adjusts because he's cool like that and Foggy is the best bro. Plus, he can probably smell when his blood sugar is off, like a dog.

(Please, if you do write this, make sure you get diabetes right, okay?)

Save for the two kids, who take over Matt's bed and are out like lights in ten minutes, no one really sleeps, that night. Sure, Karen could say that what kept her up was helping clean up the sad remains of Matt's toaster, but in truth, they finished that in a few minutes. What's keeping her up are the questions--why are so many people being pulled here? Why here, exactly, there's nothing special about this world, is there?

"Maybe the walls of reality are a lot weaker here or something," her Foggy says, deadpan, in the wee hours of the morning. Most of the Matts (and one Karen, which is wholly weird because, well, that's her in Matt's costume) are out Daredevilling, which leaves Claire, the gloved mutant Foggy, and her Black Widow version as the only adults in Matt's apartment.

"Sounds like a bad scifi novel," Claire remarks, stirring a cup of coffee.

"Our lives are a bad scifi novel," Karen huffs.

"Or a really bad storyline in Star Trek," says the gloved Foggy. "Be on the lookout for a me wearing like, a goatee or something, yeah?"

The other Karen snorts out a laugh, and says, "I'll keep that in mind."

Karen snickers too, but she keeps an eye on her alternate self, who doesn't sit anywhere near the windows, who glances sometimes at the window as if looking for a threat. Karen still sees the dark corners of Hell's Kitchen, the shadows lurking just out of the corner of her eye, but this Karen came from a dark corner, from the shadows she's scared of.

She's not sure how to feel about that.

On the list of weird things that's happened to her over the past few days, Karen supposes that taking two of her own counterparts out for a walk through Hell's Kitchen doesn't even rank that high on her list.

Besides, she appreciates the fresh air and the less crowded feeling--the Matts (and Karen) had come back with a Foggy who did become a butcher (and had been very surprised to find that his alternate counterparts were lawyers), a Claire with goddamn wings like an angel's, a Matt who had an owl perched on his shoulder and nearly punched at least one Matt for trying to touch her, a Claire who had a small dog in her hands and made it clear that the dog was also not to be touched, Mattie's Foggy and Clarence, a bald Foggy and a woman Karen had definitely not met before, and a Matt who set off all of Karen's alarms even before he opened his mouth and started a fight with her Matt.

(Some tiny part of her has started referring to him as Murderdock. She'd have gone with Evil Non-Goatee Matt, but that had been too long.)

Matt's apartment, after that, had felt too crowded for most of them, so Karen had volunteered to take her two counterparts out for a walk. So far, nobody's looked askance at any of them beyond a surprised first glance--the Black Widow Karen's hidden her hair underneath a terrible hat, and the other Karen has her eyes hidden behind red shades and a cane in her hand.

"And that," says Karen, stopping near the Santos bakery, "is the Santos bakery. Very tasty bagels, Foggy swears by them."

"The bakery's a lot farther down where I'm from," the be-hatted Karen says. "Owned by the Bains. They're a very nice family."

"We don't have a bakery at all," says the blind Karen, "it closed down years ago." She lifts her head a little and sniffs the air, and smiles. "They're baking something with chocolate in it," she says, as Karen gapes at her.

"It's weird enough getting that from Matt," the other Karen says, as the blind Karen walks up to the doors and feels around for the knob before she pushes the door open. "Does yours do that too?"

"All the time," Karen mutters, following after her blind but no doubt parkour-crazy alternate. "All the time."

They come out with chocolate croissants and an abundance of bagels for an abundance of Foggys, and the blind Karen's mumbling something around her croissant about how this is the most amazing pastry ever and she would stay in this universe just for the croissants alone when Karen says, "You know, what you did with the chocolate--you and Matt would get along. My Matt, I mean."

"And mine," says the other Karen, adjusting her hat. Somebody stares at her, and she waves a hand as though oblivious to the monstrosity perched atop her head. "Guess Matts do that a lot."

"Or Daredevils in general," Karen says, dryly.

The blind Karen swallows, then says, "Mine--Mine could do something like that. Not as good as me, he didn't have the senses, but--he could. Do that, I mean." She bows her head a little, lets out a huff of breath. "I'd like to sit down now," she says.

Karen knows that Matt has a radar sense, something that tells him where things are around him, and that this Karen probably doesn't need her help, but she looks at the other Karen, who nods, and the two of them end up steering their Daredevil counterpart to the nearest bench.

Karen says, "Did anything happen to him?"

"Did anything," says the blind Karen, her tone slightly sarcastic, before she sighs and shakes her head. "No, sorry, you didn't deserve that. It's just--somebody found out. About me."

Karen knows dread when she feels it, and the weight that drops in her stomach just now? Dread. "Oh my god, what--what happened?"

"Vanessa," the blind Karen spits. "Found out who I was, didn't just go after me, she sent somebody after Matt and Foggy, too. I got Foggy out fine, but Matt--" She cuts herself off, a hand going up to her mouth, her shoulders shaking. "Matt went missing for a month," she says, "and when I found him he was mute and he'd been hurt, and the first thing he did when he saw me was try to kill me."

The other Karen's eyes have gone distant, and she says, quiet, "Bozhe moi."

"I have no idea what that means, but it sounds really bad," says the blind Karen, sniffling. "I had to fight him off, he was so--so scared, and he was hurt, I could hear his ribs, and there was some kind of--of gas, in the air, and--I don't know how we managed to get out of there alive, I just wanted to get him to the hospital." She sucks in a breath, then says, quiet, "He's been there since. Foggy's been visiting him every day, just to talk, and--I miss him."

Karen thinks of Matt--her Matt, with rage thrumming under his skin and guilt weighing him down. She knows that, should anything happen to her or to Foggy, he'd blame himself for it, and she looks at the blind Karen and thinks, suddenly, you and I have a lot more in common than you think.

Because should anything happen to her Matt and Foggy, she's not sure she'd take it well either.

Of course, a month later after they've gotten together-
*Karen rattles handle to closet door.*
"Guys, really? I need more paper!"
"Sorry Karen, too busy."
"We're supposed to be working here!"
"Somebody doesn't have his hickeys yet. Door stays closed."

So did Butcher Foggy's mom always want him to be a lawyer?

the au parade continues to grow! daemons! wingfic! murderdock! 616 foggy and kirsten! (is butcher!foggy from any particular fanfic, or is that just an obvious alternate career path for him?)

poor love interest!matt and his terrible fate of woe. :( and poor dd!karen eating herself alive over it. karen and matt do have a lot in common in that regard, don't they? poor violent overprotective guilt-ridden do-gooders. *pets them all, gently*

No but what if Stick was like "you're pretty, you should use that to make men underestimate you, get in real close, and rip their dicks off" and that's all Mattie can think about now whenever someone is trying to hit on her, even if they aren't being a creep, she's remembering her lessons on how to bite someone's throat out and how strong her jaw muscles are.

I really, really want Alpha!Matt as a loving but intense partner, encouraging his Omega with murmured praise, touches everywhere, compliments on how good they're doing, what a good girl, taking all of it... And I want him easing in, slowly, slowly, letting her adjust to his size. And after, I want him to take care of her, stroke her hair, her breasts, while they're still tied together, flexing his hips in tiny movements, licking at her bite until she comes again and again... Basically I need this in my life, please and thank.

Wait, I miss-see something and have a mental image of Foggy Nelson as a giant pastry, and you're taking that as an insult to the two groups mentioned in the original prompt?

I know being Jewish has nothing to do with nationality, and the berry to custard was a joke not an insult to people who are dealing with the misery and stress of living in a body that isn't theirs.

TL;DR- No insult was intended- all I was thinking about was pastry after my eyes mis-processed some text.

Honestly, I don't care what the outer shell is. If you say you're berry, you're berry. You say you're custard, you're custard. You say you're trans but don't mention berry or custard, I'm not going to ask further unless you want to volunteer the info. Pastry is pastry, no matter the filling.

You say you're miserable- depression and anti-depressants are something I actually have experience with- let's talk that and how to avoid Sith Psychiatrists.

haha. nah, in this case he couldn't go to law school, and ended up following his mother's planned career path for him. he's saving up for law school, though.

Kirsten sighing very deeply bc she may not be as used to this shit as Matt and Foggy (who are likely just hanging out on the sidelines like nbd this happened to Spider-Man once), but she does know how to Roll with Things. god I love her and I want to write her hanging out with the Karens and the Claires. (butcher!Foggy is not from any particular fanfic, it's just an alternate career path. also, he's saving up for law school.)

ngl I kind of want to write DD!Karen's actual story now. or at least prompt it. I'm so sorry to Matt for his terrible fate in her 'verse, but at least he's alive--originally I was going to go the Spider-Gwen route and have him die the same way Karen does in 616, but that tore my heart out so I used Milla Donovan's fate instead. he might come out of it someday. but not any day soon, and Karen keeps beating herself up over that.

OP HERE! THIS IS GREAT! I didn't expect this to be filled so fast, thank you! I feel so bad Matt and his insecurity. Then when he thinks Foggy wants him to not come home, but then you made it all better. I love the way you write these dorks!

I also love that Matt was trying to be all romantic with the rooftop proposal and then they got engaged in a stairwell! Matt got on one knee in a stairwell and asked Foggy to marry him and it was amazing! I loved it! Can you imagine when people ask them how they got engaged?

I am so happy that this prompt got picked up. Your brain-scrambled Matt is really well portrayed. He's still stupidly self-sacrificing, even at a default ground-state. Vanessa's point of view is also fantastic because I'm really keen to have this story filtered through her perspective. I am very interested to see where you take this.
