anon who mentioned maggie having postpartum OCD and psychosis here. i totally will accept that, i know next to nothing about the manifestations of OCD other than intrusive thoughts or repetitive actions, but from what you've described, anon, that basically hits what matt's got on the head. i mean, i already considered him clinically depressed (and waid's run of daredevil explicitly states that matt's got depression but constantly is repressing his symptoms in order to not freak people like foggy out) and probably on the autism spectrum, and scrupulosity can definitely be added to that list.

overall i think probably matt's got an entire grocery list of disorders and issues but because he insists on self-medication or denying that he has any problems to begin with he ends up way worse off than he already is. for example in vol4 he tells his girlfriend kirsten that he's absolutely fine and feeling great and then goes home, takes off his coat, tie, and dress shirt, leaves them all over the stairs, and proceeds to take to the fetal position in his bed. the poor dude just can't get a break. :(

Foggy fell in love with Matt so naturally that it's hard for him to remember what it was like not to love him.

Matt fell in love with Foggy so gradually that he almost missed the way his feelings for his best friend changed.

Give me all the sweet, sweet mutual pining, low-key UST, growing intimacy and deep-felt affection of friendship slowly turning into love.
Doesn't have to be a 30k epic, just show me the highlights of the journey, the subtle changes over time. (Something like 5+1 thing would be totally fine!)

for some reason, matt going along with any and all attention (whether it be sexual or otherwise) seems to be a very popular idea on this kinkmeme. not that i am complaining! my heart just breaks for the guy every time, though. like we all know matt's hot but it must be tiring for matt to be constantly objectified by these people with no regard to what he's actually like. they all want him because he's good looking and that's why they don't care that he's blind but they don't care for all the wrong reasons and it makes me sad.

Yeah, I think Matt would get along with Bruce and Sam the easiest because they're not Super Personalities, you know? Matt doesn't know enough about either of them to have an opinion about them (or at least, until he learns about Bruce being the Hulk. He might have feelings about THAT)

True. Maybe Matt himself gets fed up and yanks it off and babbles about how he knows he's betrayed Foggy and Foggy's just "dude, I'm glad you finally told me even though I've known for months because I've been watching the way you move forever" or something.

i figured you should know, authornon, that the section of the most recent part of this fill that absolutely Killed Me was not any of the actual sex but the face touching. my god. matt you poor touch starved duckling, of course you would like the face petting.

also! regarding prom stuff: the promposals i've seen at my school have gotten hilariously out of hand. one time i had to help a guy actually serenade his girlfriend (the guy brought his guitar and everything, it was unreal). it's not a big deal if you don't bring a date, tho. i was too sick to go to prom but a bunch of my friend group went stag together.

i am EAGERLY awaiting this last part. i'm sure it will probably make me melt into a an actual puddle.

Reid would totally figure out that Matt was Daredevil, but would he tell his team if Matt told him not to?

Since I'm in a really dark mood tonight, I'd love to see something really dark, angsty, Matt-centric where things are spiralling out of control for him. His constant vigilante battles are slowly pushing the people who care about him away, and they're taking their toll on his psyche as well. He feels alone, he's physically and emotionally aching, and at some point, he just feels like he can't take it anymore.

So he calls Foggy in a last-ditch attempt to end it, but he can't do it alone and begs Foggy to help him die.

Bonus points if there's tear duct action, extra bonus points if Foggy can talk Matt out of it and there's some kind of happy(-ish) ending. Gen preferred.

i think also this has to do with the fact that anything frank miller touches turns to shit. i mean, i respect and love the lovely old guy that runs my local comic book store, but that isn't going to make me believe that frank miller isn't a bad writer, a terrible artist, and quite frankly a total nutcase. sure, there's been sexism in comics but miller's sexism goes beyond typical damsel in distress stuff written previously. for example pretty much all of the awful stuff that happens to karen is a direct result of his writing. frank miller ALSO was responsible for bruce wayne's infamous "i do what i want! i'm the goddamn batman!" line, for what it's worth.

i think what this all boils down to is sure, sexism has happened in the past but it took a turn for the dark and implicitly violent when frank miller was handed the reigns. i mean, the guy's typical M.O. is to write a man who is powerful and can do whatever he pleases because he's a hero and everyone knows heroes don't have to be responsible for the shitstorm their actions may cause, and then to write every woman that man is connected to as the bearer of that man's consequences. karen gets tired of being daredevil's girlfriend; karen moves to california in an attempt to establish her own career as something other than matt murdock's secretary; karen fails and suffers for it. what miller does is he makes women suffer both ways; if they try to stay with their superhero boyfriends they'll probably die, and if they try to leave they are punished for trying to be their own people. and THEN they'll probably die.

this reply got waaaay out of hand and i'm sorry it's so long! but yeah, i'm really hoping karen is going to get treated as a brave person who can do her own shit without being made to suffer for it. as deborah ann woll put it herself, karen could walk into the same alley that matt walks into but people won't think karen is able to handle herself. keep in mind that karen is the same person that saved herself by basically clawing a guard's eye out. she may not be a super ninja but she is far more capable than matt or any of the silver age writers gave her credit for.

I refuse to believe there are no Firefly/Serenity fans here.

I was ranting to a coworker about this very issue on our commute to work this morning, although without naming specific names (because I am bad with them and only started paying attention to who wrote what in like the last year).

STRONG WOMEN WHO MAKE DECISIONS FOR THEMSELVES (that may or may not have anything to do with said superhero boyfriend) AND DO JUST FINE
VULNERABLE WOMEN WHO CAN AND DO BITE BACK BECAUSE WOMEN ARE NOT ONE-DIMENSIONAL PERSONALITIES
NORMAL WOMEN WITH NORMAL STRENGTHS AND NORMAL WEAKNESSES AND A HEALTHY MIX OF SUCCESS AND FAILURE

I think, for people with low self-worth/self-esteem, even bad attention feels better than no attention at all. :-(

it's not very fleshed out since it was just a random idea i had and really loved but i imagine claire would be sort of like piero joplin or anton sokolov? like a nurse turned plague scientist? and maybe foggy has the crappiest apartment in the legal district converted into a law office? maybe foggy and matt represent families wrongfully evicted on plague charges? and karen of course is their secretary but she does a lot of foot work because she's not afraid of weepers OR freaky teleporting masked vigilantes!
