Well, Maggie was 100%, canon mentally ill. Scrupulosity was probably part of it but it sounds an awful lot like she had bona fide psychotic delusions; OCD doesn't make you, uhh, try to kill babies. I don't think so in terms of Matt, though... In the show, anyway. I haven't read the comics, just about the comics.

I have OCD personally and I haven't encountered anything that suggests any type of it in Matt yet, and there's a few strikes against it so far. Someone with religious OCD would not have been able to deal with the moral question of whether or not they should kill Fisk in a rational manner, at all. I haven't seen any truly irrational behavior from him-- There's a difference between being reckless with your health and, say, "I can't go in the kitchen because if I do, being in such close proximity to knives will make me spontaneously develop the urge to kill myself." I find the whole "Devil" theme dubious for someone with that sort of OCD, too. They might be able to toy with the idea for a short time, but a sustained, concerted effort like wearing a Devil costume to beat people up every night and being called the "Devil of Hell's Kitchen"? No. Not if they wanted to have their head in the game while they did it, and the ability to remain functional during the day.

I'd say that perhaps Matt just has a very rigid, serious, focused(read: obsessed) personality. The difference between a personality trait and a mental disorder is whether or not it significantly hinders your daily function. Matt, for all of his issues, seems relatively well-adjusted.

DD: What, I can't check in on you? I don't remember it being a bad break-up.
Foggy: This is my GRANDMA'S HOUSE and I NEVER TOLD YOU ABOUT IT
DD: Details. When are you going to talk to Matt?
Foggy: *sullenly* Maybe I already have.
DD: *snorts* You have not.
Foggy: ...How much are you stalking me?
DD: No more than usual.
Foggy: That...that does not. Um. Help. In any way. Actually.
DD: You know what's not helping? You not talking to Matt.
Foggy: WHY ARE YOU SO INVESTED IN MY LACK OF LOVE LIFE.
DD: Because you don't currently have a love life for me to be invested in instead. Also, this is a very good muffin.
Foggy: You--we made them for MATT, stop EATING them.
DD: *pauses* They...are? Really? But he's not even here.
Foggy: *mumbles* Yeah, well, I was going to take them to him tomorrow. They're his favourite.
DD: *smirks* Well, look at that. They're my favourite, too.

Also, I nearly did a spittake at the "How much are you stalking me?" "No more than usual." exchange. Because that is hilarious and perfect. (And completely true, I will not be convinced otherwise. In Matt's mind, protective stalking = love.)

This fill was totally plausible and subtly sweet. I particularly liked that Fisk was "a bit gentle for Wesley's tastes". That struck me as very true to character.

Because I'm trash, I want Matt to be the one who gets kidnapped, tied up with duct tape and locked in a taxi trunk, instead of Claire.

What were Karen's first days like? Did Foggy sit her down and have an orientation on Matt Murdock with her? We all know that Matt has rules. Maybe Karen started trying to clean the office with bleach or brought in aerosol air fresheners. I could see her trying to rearrange the furniture or not putting a chair back in the same spot. She has to print documents on two separate printers. And under no circumstances ask Matt about his family!. I know from personal experience that it takes some adjusting when living with somebody who is blind . Not to mention that I am sure Matt has idiosyncrasies

Note: So I wrote a 5+1 fill for someone around universes where Matt and Foggy stop being friends, and basically realized (especially after reading some comments on AO3) that each piece of my fill was essentially it's own awesome prompt. So I'm posting them here, and am prompting someone to write a sequel/additional material on the themes.

The prompt is this:

Foggy has been seeing a woman for a while, and loves her, and she tells him that she's pregnant. He's excited and happy, but the more he thinks about it the more he realizes that Hell's Kitchen isn't a great neighborhood for a family, being a criminal defense attorney isn't really a family-oriented career path, and most importantly being Daredevil's partner means that having Matt in his life compromises his family's potential safety and exposes them to violence.

So Foggy has to make a tough choice knowing that Matt can never just not be Daredevil, and that choice is that he puts his family first.

Give me the aftermath of Foggy telling Matt, give me the lead-up to Foggy making the decision, or give me the pair reconnecting years later and Matt getting to know Foggy's son. It doesn't matter, I just want a new perspective on this! :)

So this is kind of a two part prompt since I have two ways I like this idea...

Matt, Foggy, Karen, maybe Claire to patch him up (AND CAUSE SHE'S AWESOME) (whoever you want) are kidnapped and put in like an underground fighting thing. Maybe they want Foggy to fight first since they think he'd be the most fun, or maybe they stick Matt in because they think it would be funny...

But Matt ends up fighting, and Karen obviously figures things out. Matt is obviously like the best and the people in charge are ALL ABOUT HIM........Maybe person in charge is Stick? And wants to show Matt how his people are a problem? By maybe grabbing Foggy and threatening to kill him if Matt doesn't kill the next person he's in the ring with?

OR

In some sort of weird twist of fate Natasha and Matt are taken instead. Natasha is the one they way, and they give her Matt to fight with thinking he would slow her down. He obviously doesn't. Intense sex would be awesome.

(Or some sort of mix of the two)

There are several AMAZING stories where Foggy gets to really find out how fucked up Matt really is (mostly due to Stick). Pretty Please give me the aftermath. Does Foggy shower Matt with affirmations? Teach him about self-care? Maybe Foggy starts hugging Matt everyday. I could even see Foggy reading books on childhood trauma just to help Matt. We know Foggy will never believe Matt again when he says that he is 'fine'. Make cry anons!

It wasn’t the blind man on the couch that surprised him.

It was true that he and Matt normally came home together, sweeping through the door riding a swell of satisfaction from another day spent proving they had made the right choice in founding Nelson and Murdock. But sometimes Matt would race home along paths Foggy didn’t like to dwell on too much, sprawling out on his couch for a well-deserved drink before heading out sans business suit to lay the hurt on whatever unfortunate souls were next on his shit list.

Foggy didn’t like to think much on that either, but he wasn’t prone to dancing around it any more. Matt’s nightly forays were as predictable as sunrise and while Foggy hated the bruises and abrasions it left all over his body, he hated even more the veritable cloud of guilt that followed Matt around when he took more than a few nights off.

So it wasn’t so much the fact that there was a blind man sitting on his couch that threw him off, but that the blind man in question was not Matt by any stretch of the imagination. Unless-

“Uh, Matt?”

The old man on the couch turned, a surprisingly fluid movement for a man of his age, and Foggy could feel the contempt radiating from him clear across the room. Obviously Old Dude was forgetting whose apartment they were in.

“Do I look like Matt Murdock to you, jackass?”

Foggy shrugged, not quite managing to quell the embarrassed blush swiftly rising up his neck to stain his cheeks. He was so used to Matt’s ‘world afire’ now that the gesture had become second nature again. “Welcome to New York, you must be new here. Points of interest include a tower where a Norse god lives when he’s not off doing his divinity thing, rampaging green monsters that ride flying alien worms through the air, and the best damn Italian food outside of Italy.”

It might have been his imagination, but he thought maybe the crushing weight of disgust lessened a little. Just a little.

“So if you’re not Matt, I guess that makes you Stick.” He was hard-pressed to keep the anger flowing through his veins from tinging the name. Matt still didn’t like to speak of it, but Foggy had pried a story or two from his lips on the subject of Stick and his less than tender mercies. Matt liked to pretend there was something softer in the man, a tinge of compassion that years of disappointment had buried deep. For his part, Foggy knew a Grade A Asshole when he saw one. That was his superpower.

“He’s told you about me, that’ll make this easier. I need you to leave.”

“I think you’ve got this all wrong.” Foggy stomped to the fridge, pulling out one of the craft German beers Matt favored. He still hadn’t figured out how he’d fallen head over heels for a beer snob of all things, but one day maybe his mother would forgive him. He lived in eternal hope.

Some last shred of manners made him hold out another bottle, loathe as he was to encourage an actual conversation. “Drink?”

“Not the shit you keep in there.”

Another beer snob. Figured Matt would pick up some of his less charming aspects from Mr. Miyagi’s evil knockoff.

He popped the lid, taking his own sweet time to kick off his shoes and make his way over to the chair, crashing down to throw his legs over the side. No reason he shouldn’t be comfortable during this impromptu home invasion, and the more casual he was about it the less likely Matt would be to realize anything was amiss. If Matt knew something was off he could blame it on Jehovah’s Witnesses or something. Unless he could smell his old mentor from downwind, like some kind of predator.

Let him have a cold. Allergies. Anything, Foggy prayed under his breath. So soon after everything else, the last thing he wanted to talk about was how Matt’s pseudo-father hadn’t even met him properly and already hated his guts. Awkward. Obviously they were going to have to set down a few ground rules for visiting hours, starting with-

“This is my home, that is my couch; if one of us is leaving, it’s you. Just FYI.” A deep draught punctuated the statement. Very professional. Much manlier than calling Matt and freaking out because holy shit how had this man broken into their apartment and were those ‘leave Matt or die’ vibes he was sensing or just run-of-the-mill ‘I want you to leave because I am jealous of what an awesome team you make’ vibes?

A dry chuckle made him wonder if maybe mind-reading wasn’t also one of Stick’s many talents. “This is your home now? I wonder if Matt knows.”

“He does. So do you or you wouldn’t be here. Now, what can I really do for you?” Game face. He’d gone up against some of the most prestigious firms in New York and wiped the floor with their minions. Of course, he’d had back-up then, but Foggy knew he was no slouch across a negotiating table. The coffee table in his own home should be no different.

“You can get the hell away from Matt Murdock before it gets both of you killed.” Stick leaned back, hands white-knuckling his cane in the same way Matt’s did when he was valiantly resisting the urge to deck someone into another dimension. “You’re fond of him aren’t you? Friends?” His tone gave the word a more salacious meaning, but whatever- guilty as charged. Nolo Contendere.

“We call it ‘partners’ these days, and I’d appreciate it if you’d get to the point. Grasshopper’s going to be home soon and I really don’t want him getting the wrong idea.” He allowed a smile to creep into his voice, a smirk he was sure Stick would hear. Calming his racing heart was beyond his mere mortal capabilities, but surely he could write that off as thrill of the hunt? Matt wasn’t here to call him on it, at least.

“That is the point. You’re slowing him down- Matt knows the only way to keep his feet is to be quick on ‘em, and you might as well be a literal shackle. If you gave half a damn, you would leave.” Stick stood, stretching nonchalantly as though he hadn’t just made the most absurd pronouncement Foggy had heard since that case last month where an abuser had walked free on a technicality. Until the Devil had caught up with him later.

This time Foggy was rather hoping he wouldn’t.

“Leave, Nelson, or we’ll be in touch.”

“You can reach me through my attorney, Matt Murdock.” He’d barely finished his sentence before Stick had reached the door, pausing on the threshold for a split second to jiggle the knob.

“And next time, lock the door.” He was gone before Foggy could think of a suitably pithy reply, which was just as well because diplomacy wasn’t really his gift to begin with.
