Blog name: glorious-spoon What you post: art, fandom commentary and gifs (currently mostly MCU but also Supernatural, Star Trek, and a smattering of others), occasional SJ ranting. Is the above your primary blog? Yep. Any additional notes? Nothing comes to mind. :)
I'm a New Yorker (state, not city) and I'd just call it punch. Or spiked punch, but unless it's a church event or there are children present, I would generally assume any punch was alcoholic. May just be that I hang out with a bunch of drunks, though.
I do know what jungle juice is, but I wouldn't use the term myself.
Does anyone know some things about high class prostitutes? Like the kind A-list celebrities, national-level politicians, Wall Street businessmen, etc hire.
- Do they charge by hour or for the whole night - Average rates - How often do they work per week
I guess, I expected karen to die almost in each episode, I knew she was some major character so... they could not have her die but, still afraid it could have happened. Luckly it did not, of course. though I thought also that ben was some kind of pivotal character so no, really shocked when fisk made it into his house
Yeah a flip phone is at least $40. I'm pretty sure we see Matt throw away the burner along with the cane in the episode where Claire gets kidnapped, too.
Re: Need advice with Hospital & Law Stuff (tw: sexual assault/rape)
I do as well and I've never considered it a speech impediment (my brain just goes a lot faster than my mouth), but given that Matt is blind, I think it would be a lot more of an issue for him.
Eh, there are a lot of people out there who love their kids but are still bad at being parents anyway; that's why things like CPS and foster care exist. Jack loved his son, and wanted to provide the world for Matt. He did his best. But he was still kind of a terrible dad.
...I can link you to a couple of sex worker blogs that might be a good idea for you to read, since. uh. the first thing you'll want to know is that very few full-service sex workers appreciate the p-word.
(some of them do in calls, some of them do overnights, some of them work a lot, some have a couple of regulars, it all depends, y'know?)
Jack honestly reminds me a lot of my dad and I don't think I was irrevokably fucked up by his parenting, although I suppose I could just be in denial. I do think that a lot of the criticism of him seems to stem at least partially from class issues, though.
They're escrima sticks (wood) until the last episode of the show, when they become his traditional comics billy clubs. I assume Melvin made these for Matt along with the costume. Where else would Matt get something with that level of machined skill?
IKR? Me too. I've always liked gunslingers and those thigh holsters for their pistols, but Matt's thigh holster coupled with the stripper!booty-shorts kind of short circuits my brain.
To clarify, a lot of the criticism of him seems to boil down to the one scene where Matt is stitching his face, which I agree wasn't A+ parenting, but I also don't think it's enough to say he was a terrible parent; a lot of the evidence seems to be extrapolating things that aren't actually in the show (or saying that leaving a 9 year old at home alone for a few hours is neglectful, which, what?)
*flails wildly* That's heartbreaking, nonnie. And ultimately believable that they would die one after the other since in the comics Frank has killed DD at least once (which triggered utter chaos and downfall for all the other Marvel heroes), DD has died defending Frank more than once, and most recently they just died together (the insinuation being they were working together and were caught by the enemy and held captive together) in the same freaking panel in Old Man Logan. Marvel is not screwing around when they started tying Matt and Frank at the hip(s) decades ago and just.never.STOPPED. \o/
If you're looking for comics, go to Marvel Unlimited to read comics digitally. It's like the Hulu or Netflix of all Marvel titles, the archive is all-encompassing with the exception that they're slow to post new ongoing issues for a few months. Keep an eye out for deals because almost every month someone offers a promo discount for the first month free (and you can cancel after that if you want). But you'll have your hands full, especially for heroes like DD who has issues going back 50+ years.
Matt's weapon of choice came from an actual policeman, hence the billy club. He chose it because it's painful but non-lethal and he's never set out to kill his enemies. Since he started using it he's customised it several times, and there were times in the comics where it was just... too much like a Batman weapon, the Swiss army knife of billy clubs. Matt has never stopped calling his weapon a billy club, even though it's definitely not the same policeman club anymore. Personally I like it when it's a fairly simple tool and Matt uses more of his wits/body/skills to fight bad guys rather than gadgetry.
I just cut and pasted mine from the beginning of a file I've created with my meta and head canons until I force myself to get some kind of tumblr so I can write these out. Thank you for giving me another forum!
1. I can't stand Wilson Fisk. I know they set him up as what was supposed to be a very sympathetic foil to the hero, but I could never muster up the sympathy. You want to know why? It's because of one of his supposedly charming lines to Vanessa, about how a woman who can be bought not being worth anything. You remember the first episode, where Wesley (on Fisk's behalf) chews out the Russians for falling short on the cargo totals? And the shipment was women that were being abducted, with an element of sexual sadism and voyeurism implied even moving them from one place to another? Yeah, any chance of finding Wilson Fisk the slightest bit sympathetic was lost right there.
2. Don't even get me started on Vanessa herself. Yuck. Miss "I can't be bought, but you've got to be in a particular tax bracket to make any time with me, and it turns out I can be bought by promises of safety (which is what money means to many people) anyhow." Give me more of Elena Cardenas's charming but incompetent matchmaking over this woman.
3. Why does this have to be on Netflix, which makes it so hard to skip the scenes you don't care about? (Although for all I know, this is actually a popular opinion.)
SA as above: I mean, "so I can post these where people can see them," not "so I can write them out," since clearly, I can't stop myself writing them out.
The nonnie upthread mentioned unpopular opinions and it reminded me about the Marvel Defenders podcast interview of John Patrick Hayden. It's about 40 minutes long and available here:
* John's so pleased with the show. * He speaks about the scene where young!Matt is sewing up Jack's face. * They discuss the very horrifying idea that, because there was an ace of spades in Jack's medical kit, Jack Murdock would possibly come back in S2 as a revived, brainwashed BULLSEYE. Ack! Noooo! (Although can you imagine Matt's freakout if he finds out his own dead father is the one trying to kill him? It would explain Bullseye's obsession with DD a little more, I guess?) * The line to Jack about 'you're still young enough to have more kids' made John angry. During the podcast he said '... that line still makes me angry.' ♥ * The similarities (and isolated loneliness) between Jack and Matt * He's reallllly pleased with Charlie's performance * His friends talking to him about the show * John found out his friend Rob Morgan was playing Turk Barrett on DD, and told him to 'stop picking on my son.'
Your #3? You couldn't fast foward through scenes on Netflix? I have no problem fast forwarding anything on Netflix. Do other people have problems not ffwding shows on Netflix?
Though, tbh, I can just let DD ride and it makes me v.v.happy. >.>
OMG I got annoyed at Foggy for sleeping with Marci, too! Even though Karen was in love with Matt and they weren't even in a relations. Still I felt betrayed
