It was so nice, though! It played off of DD2 and it also fed directly into Jessica's understanding of him, and it deepened their relationship and respect. Or I thought it did anyway. Later we see Jessica giving her arm to Matt to lead him at the police station when she damn well knows he doesn't need it. As a fan I just loved that scene so much.

It stuck out for me too, and I really do enjoy those two characters together. The actors have good chemistry as well.

YES! Thank you! Their scenes were so good together, I would have watched a whole season of just the two of them being prickly and sassy and real with each other. This explained how much easier it would be for them to work together, using their powers to investigate cases? I really want that.

And yes - I want that so much. I am really into all the Jessica and Matt fic this is spawning (friendship or relationship, it all works for me). The characters gel and they just seem to understand each other. I am keeping my fingers crossed that after Matt returns from the dead that they keep this bond and explore it more.

Well, it's certainly not the worst bit in the show :) It's just that it came completely out of nowhere, and stood out that way.

Could have had an easy fix, too.

Have the girl pick at the piano, say her father tried to teach her. Matt cocks his head, thinks he hears something weird, says, May I? And he sits at the piano with her, plays a bit and confirms there's something inside.
