Mod Post | Discussion/Off-Topic Post | All Rounds & Other Useful Links
Fills from all posts: Completed & WIPs

This post is for prompts involving any characters from Netflix's Iron Fist.

Now that The Defenders prompt post is live, all crossovers between anyone in the four individual shows should go over there. Prompts only including characters that appear in Iron Fist should still go here.

Rules:
  • General
    1. YKINMKATO. Play nice. If you don't like something, scroll on.

    2. All comments must be anon. If you would like to be politely banned to avoid anon-failing, leave a logged-in comment on the mod post or pm the mod account.

    3. Subject lines should only be changed if you're posting a prompt or a fill (indicators like OP or Author!Anon should go in the body of the comment).

    4. RPF is allowed. Crossovers, characters from the extended Marvel Universe and comics canon are allowed, but must relate to the 2017 TV show in some way.

    5. Drop a comment on the mod post if you have any questions or problems.

  • Prompts
    1. All types of prompts are welcome.

    2. Use the subject line for the main idea of your prompt (pairing or characters, keywords, kink).

    3. Warnings are nice, but not mandatory. Get DW Blocker if there's anything you really don't want to see.

  • Fills
    1. Put [FILL] or something similar in the subject line when posting a fill.

    2. Announce your fill on either the Completed Fills Post or the WIP Post.

    3. Long fills can either be posted over multiple comments, or posted on AO3 and linked back here.

    4. Multiple fills are always okay.

    5. Fills can be anything! Fic, art and vids are all welcome.

Ward/Danny - Inappropriate Childhood Interactions

(Anonymous) 2017-03-19 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, this is messed up, but Danny says that Ward used to kick him in the balls for fun. What if Ward took advantage of his advanced age and power over Danny in other ways?

I would just love for someone to build on Danny and Ward's childhood "friendship" or lack thereof from the perspective of Ward taking advantage of Danny and being confused about his own sexuality. Or maybe even as a way of Ward exorcising the fact that his dad seems to sometimes like Danny better than him.

[FILL] Ward/Danny - To Fear

OK so this got away from me a little bit, it's also not quite what you asked for, sorry prompter! I hope you like it anyway.

Warnings for child abuse, read carefully if that's a bad topic for you.

---

When the man calling himself Danny Rand threw himself into the car, Ward was not afraid. He had a gun, he knew the layout of the garage, and there was nowhere for not-Danny to go - not in the direction he had driven. Still, Ward had things to do today, business deals that Harold had told him were important, and Ward knew, intimately and painfully, what the disappointment of his father felt like. They slam around a corner, the carjacker saying he just wants to talk, but Ward knows it's time to draw this little diversion to his day to an end - he only has a few scant hours left before he has to report back and there is an Augean stables worth of shit he has to clear before the deals can happen. They say time is money, but in his case time wasn't just money. It was power, a buffer between himself and his fathers inevitable disappointment, it was the chance to save himself going home with bruised kidneys as a reminder of his failure. He almost wishes that his father would go too far one day, leave marks somewhere visible so that finally, finally the charade can be over but he never does, only ever leaves a map of pain where other people can't see; under three piece suits and tailored shirts and the air of 'don't touch me' that Ward likes to project.

Quickly, Ward pulls and cocks his gun; "Pull over". Not-Danny doesn't, and isn't that just the perfect proof that he's dealing with a madman - what sane human being wouldn't stop what they were doing if they had a gun in their face? Instead, the man behind the wheel looks put-upon as Ward tells him to talk to the police instead of him.

The Danny imposter sighs; "I have been met with nothing but anger and hostility since I've been home". Brilliant - it's somehow Ward's fault that this mans delusion isn't reality. The guy carries on talking and just as Ward decides that he could justifiably plead self-defence if he shoots not-Danny, the gun is yanked from his hand.

Ward forgets how to breathe.

"Bang!" The gun falls in pieces to the footwell.

Barely hearing himself over the pounding in his ears, Ward says "you'll never get a penny from us", feeling proud that his voice doesn't shake, that there's no hint of the anxious clench of his stomach, or his heart pounding in his throat. Maybe Harold had beaten the fear out of him after all, and Ward stifles the sudden desire to laugh. God, he's just as mad as the guy next to him, maybe the crazy is catching, or maybe he had been spiralling out of control for so long that this is the final straw that breaks the camels back.

Ward is so sure, so sure that the not-Danny isn't Danny, firing back rejoinder after rejoinder like he's in the boardroom crushing another CEO until they have no choice but to yeild, right up until the moment the man spits out "you used to kick me in the balls at every chance you got", his face twisted with misery and suddenly Ward can see it, has seen that particular expression a thousand times on a younger face. The world tilts on its axis, and all Ward can do is remember pretty, perfect Danny Rand who could do no wrong, for whom the love of his own father was not enough so he stole the love of Wards father too.

He remembers how it felt, having Danny curled in a ball at his feet, his face streaked with snot and tears, how finally he had the power to bring Danny down to his level to make him crawl and grovel and taste the bitter dirt from his shoes rough against his tongue, just like Harold did to him. After all Ward knew, down to the bottom of his soul after fifteen years of having it ground into him, that he wasn't good enough. Not like Danny, not like Joy who was too young to know anything but was already becoming more and more like Harold, growing ice over her heart. Ward thinks about how he promised himself when Harold first hurt him, that he would never, never be like him, how he would be better, that he didn't need to prove anything with his fists or his belt or his... But no, he can't think about that now. Instead he looks at the man behind the wheel, and all he can see is Danny. The guy who was so unfamiliar at first now has Danny's lips and Danny's hair and Danny's stupid, naive, expressive eyes that are still just as blue as they were when he was a kid.

Danny is still talking, about watching his parents die, about being afraid and all Ward can think is that he was the first person to teach Danny fear, to show him that no matter what the adults said Ward knew what he was -nothing. A worthless, weak little boy who had to take whatever Ward decided to dish out because in this game, at least, he held the all the cards. He remembers making Danny beg him to stop hurting him, to let him out the freezer to please, please not touch him there and ignoring him, watching Danny's curls bounce from side to side as he shook his head in a silent 'no', a final plea. But if no-one listened to him, why should he listen to Danny? By age eleven Ward knew with absolute certainty that no-one and nothing was coming to save him, not God, not magic, not even wishing upon a star so why should Danny be untouched? He had long ago discarded his original promise not to become his father - if you can't beat them, join them and by fifteen, Ward was finally playing for the winning team. So he wouldn't stop, he'd taste Dannys tears, smothering his shouts behind closed doors, would only hit him where no-one would be able to see, and if sometimes he went too far, then little boys are so clumsy aren't they, always getting scrapes and bruises, but 'don't worry, I'll keep a closer eye on him next time Mr Rand.' And there always was a next time, another gathering, a conference, a garden party, a request to babysit the kids and if Harold had smiled, had clapped Danny on the shoulder, had looked impressed at his grades, had told Ward with a sneer on his face that even a ten year old is achieving more than him then the second the adults were gone, Danny would be paying for that attention in whatever humiliating scenario Ward could think up; and if sometimes that ended up with Danny on his knees in front of him, just like Ward knelt before Harold, well, no-one had to know.

Ward snaps back to the car to see Danny accelerating towards the edge and doesn't know what to do, doesn't know how to predict this Danny that can fight his way through trained security without breaking a sweat, who can disarm a gun with one hand, who moves like a predator and has fire burning in his eyes, who is powerful even with no money, no backup and no shoes, like the rules of society just don't apply to him anymore.

But maybe not everything has changed, since the car skids to a halt and Danny stutters "I-I'm sorry" before running away, the words sending an unexpected, but oddly familiar spike of heat to Wards dick so perhaps Ward hasn't lost his power over Danny quite yet. Perhaps, somewhere inside the guy who can just hi-jack a car there is still that scared boy, and Ward can use that, can turn that to his advantage because he's not giving up the company that he built on his blood, sweat and tears. If Danny is going to stand in his way then Ward will have to put him in his place, just like he did before.

Not the OP, but wow, this was FANTASTIC. Such a great look inside Ward's mind that showed how damaged he was, that he wasn't evil at heart but continuing a cycle of abuse. My only complaint is that it wasn't longer, because I would be so down to read epic-length fic about messed-up Meachum and Rand family dynamics. XD Thank you for sharing. :)
