Daredevil Prompt Post #12
AO3 Collection | Fills: Completed & WIPs
All Rounds & Other Useful Links
This post is for prompts involving characters from Netflix's Daredevil.
Now that The Defenders prompt post is live, all crossovers between anyone in the four individual shows should go over there. Prompts only including characters that appear in Daredevil should still go here.
Rules:
- General
- YKINMKATO. Play nice. Respect others. If you don't like something, scroll on.
- All comments must be anon. If you would like to be politely banned to avoid anon-failing, leave a logged-in comment on the mod post or pm the mod account.
- Subject lines should only be changed if you're posting a prompt or a fill (indicators like OP or Author!Anon should go in the body of the comment).
- RPF is allowed. Crossovers, characters from the extended Marvel Universe and comics canon are allowed, but must relate to the 2015 TV show in some way.
- Prompts focusing on characters from other Netflix Marvel shows or the comics should go on their respective prompt posts, but crossovers with Daredevil can go here.
- Drop a comment on the mod post if you have any questions or problems.
- Prompts
- All types of prompts are welcome.
- Use the subject line for the main idea of your prompt (pairing or characters, keywords, kink).
- Warnings are nice, but not mandatory. Get DW Blocker if there's anything you really don't want to see.
- Reposted prompts are allowed once one round has passed - e.g. prompts from post #2 cannot be reposted until post #4. Please include a link to where it has been previously posted.
- Fills
- When posting a fill, either add [FILL] (or something similar) to the subject line, or change the subject line to the title of your fill.
- Announce your fill on either the Completed Fills Post or the WIP Post.
- Long fills can either be posted over multiple comments, or posted on AO3 and linked back here.
- Multiple fills are always okay.
- Fills can be anything! Fic, art and vids are all welcome.
Gen, Matt is actually arrested after the bombings
(Anonymous) 2017-05-20 05:32 am (UTC)(link)Foggy, meanwhile, has to contend with the idea that his best friend is a psycho terrorist that just blew up half of Hell's Kitchen and shot a bunch of cops, and the media milking it of course, making him look as horrible as possible. The fact that Matt has to channel his inner Punisher just to survive in jail doesn't help his PR.
I just want as much juicy drama coming out of Foggy's opinion of the Devil clashing with his idea of Matt, without Matt around to explain everything, as possible... And Vicious!Prison!Daredevil. Yeah, I'm gonna need me some of that Punisher, Rorschach style shit.
Foggy can't represent Matt due to conflict of interest, so maybe he takes the prosecution, or even makes a deal with Marcy, just to get close enough to assess this new Matt, try to figure out if he's still the Matt he knew, even if he can't actually talk to him.

Re: Gen, Matt is actually arrested after the bombings
(Anonymous) 2017-06-03 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)Pro se representation in a criminal case is controversial. It has a poor reputation and the success rate is difficult to measure. It has to be taken on a case by case basis. Yes, the most famous US cases are probably Ted Bundy, George 'Father of the temp insanity plea' Remus, and 'the defendant from the case that ruled that the poor shouldn't have to go pro se' (Gideon vs Wainwright). But it is complicated.
This case is a fucker, but writers guide their characters through fuckers of cases all the time, and Marvel has shown that in Daredevil's world, being cleared of all charges by a sterling lawyer's rousing speech or a vigilante dropping the real culprit at the police station is far from the only way to win.
Hope you end up with a lovely fill or at least an interesting discussion about the scenerio. Sorry for being a dick

(Anonymous) 2017-06-02 01:47 am (UTC)(link)Shit, you're right! Wasn't thinking too hard when I wrote that post, huh? :P
Dang, I really liked that part of the forced distance... "Won't" instead of "Can't" changes the dynamic a lot.
Hmm. Maybe Matt would outright refuse Foggy's representation in order to downplay their relationship and protect Foggy from potential disbarment...
Re: Gen, Matt is actually arrested after the bombings
(Anonymous) 2017-06-02 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)Don't worry about resolving the conflict early; Foggy get's every opportunity to ask whatever questions he wants, but Matt isn't actually good at explaining himself. Especially when the emotions run high.
So instead of calm and reseanable defusing of the situation, lawyer-style, I would expect a lot of confrontations, shouting matches, words that can't be unsaid, walking out on each other, coming back, refusing help, pushing people away, asking for help, praying, venting to other people, doubting each other and themselves, crisises of conscious all around, crisises of faith in the system, other crisises... all while unsteadily hobbling on the path for maybe-justice.
Could be fun :)

(Anonymous) 2017-06-08 07:50 am (UTC)(link)Might have to be a total AU where there were no crooked cops involved. Detective Blake royally screwed both an important crime scene and possibly the entire case by killing the rookie. That's definitely a monkey wrench in the investigation.
