Daredevil Prompt Post #12

Mod Post | Discussion/Off-Topic Post | Writing Challenges
AO3 Collection | Fills: Completed & WIPs

All Rounds & Other Useful Links

This post is for prompts involving characters from Netflix's Daredevil.

Now that The Defenders prompt post is live, all crossovers between anyone in the four individual shows should go over there. Prompts only including characters that appear in Daredevil should still go here.

Rules:
  • General
    1. YKINMKATO. Play nice. Respect others. If you don't like something, scroll on.

    2. All comments must be anon. If you would like to be politely banned to avoid anon-failing, leave a logged-in comment on the mod post or pm the mod account.

    3. Subject lines should only be changed if you're posting a prompt or a fill (indicators like OP or Author!Anon should go in the body of the comment).

    4. RPF is allowed. Crossovers, characters from the extended Marvel Universe and comics canon are allowed, but must relate to the 2015 TV show in some way.

    5. Prompts focusing on characters from other Netflix Marvel shows or the comics should go on their respective prompt posts, but crossovers with Daredevil can go here.

    6. Drop a comment on the mod post if you have any questions or problems.

  • Prompts
    1. All types of prompts are welcome.

    2. Use the subject line for the main idea of your prompt (pairing or characters, keywords, kink).

    3. Warnings are nice, but not mandatory. Get DW Blocker if there's anything you really don't want to see.

    4. Reposted prompts are allowed once one round has passed - e.g. prompts from post #2 cannot be reposted until post #4. Please include a link to where it has been previously posted.

  • Fills
    1. When posting a fill, either add [FILL] (or something similar) to the subject line, or change the subject line to the title of your fill.

    2. Announce your fill on either the Completed Fills Post or the WIP Post.

    3. Long fills can either be posted over multiple comments, or posted on AO3 and linked back here.

    4. Multiple fills are always okay.

    5. Fills can be anything! Fic, art and vids are all welcome.

Please post any prompts related to Season 2 of Punisher over on the dedicated Punisher prompt post, and put SPOILERS in the subject line!

This is so good! Foggy and Matt both feel completely right, here

I love it! The plot thickens...

Re: Ninja Turtles

(Anonymous) 2017-08-29 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok, but fun fact. The original writer for TMNT liked Daredevil comics so much that the chemicals tbat blinded Matt are what changed the tures into mutant turtles.

What if Karen and Foggy heard Matt out

(Anonymous) 2017-08-30 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Obviously, they were too angry at him to listen to him, and it was heat of the moment when everyone's emotions were running high due to having a disastrous performance in court, but I'd like to see what Matt was going to say to Karen and Foggy if they had given him the chance to explain himself.

Re: Matt & Jessica friendship, brother-sister relationship

Seconded! Someone pleeeeeease write this :)

matt & foggy & a dress

(Anonymous) 2017-08-30 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
at nelson & murdock (before the breakup) foggy passionatley tries to make matt care about a dress that is definitley not black and blue (or white and gold) and matt tries desparatley to get foggy to focus on their case.

Matt/Foggy, Breath Play

(Anonymous) 2017-08-30 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Matt tells Foggy about his senses way earlier because he really wants to try choking him in bed. He knows it will be perfectly safe because he will be able to feel/hear anything going wrong.

Thinking college-era established relationship, to keep it light on he angst.

Re: Minifill: Mental age regression, dubcon/noncon etc.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-30 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
OP (sorry I've been away from the meme, didn't know my prompt had been filled) : I love it, this is absolute perfection. If you feel like writting more I'd be thrilled. Are you implying that Foggy pushed Matt ? You devil !

It was in the Ben Affleck movie.

RACK service top Matt/any

(Anonymous) 2017-08-30 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
He doesn't do it often, but Matt is a an excellent service top. He's confident and self-assured in this role, and he enjoys intuiting and providing what a person needs. Because he can monitor vital signs and will known if his partner is in distress or withholding the truth, he's comfortable with some riskier kinks, and because of that and his legal background, he takes the negotiation very seriously to make sure everyone gets what they want.

Comics too! A few times, I think, but definitely at least once during the Waid run.

Foggy / Daredevil - Foggy falls in love with the Devil (Different first meeting)

(Anonymous) 2017-08-31 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Foggy meets Daredevil, before he meets Matt, and starts to fall in love with him.

+ Foggy pining over the Devil of Hell's Kitchen.

++ Matt has some other job than a lawyer, like a baker, or a non-profit worker, or an office assistant, or even a full time vigilante; what ever you feel like. :)

+++ Foggy figures out Daredevil is Matt before Matt tells him, and that info just makes Foggy pine harder.

Re: Foggy / Daredevil - Foggy falls in love with the Devil (Different first meeting)

(Anonymous) 2017-08-31 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
OP: I should note I meant in that +++ that Foggy figures out Daredevils identity before he actually meets Matt, and then learns more about him / watches him from a distance or something. Not that Matt is lying to him.

It would be even better if Matt does not spot Foggy is the same person right away. Maybe Foggy uses his knowledge of Daredevil's abilities against him? But all that is completely optional!

Gen, Turk Barrett shenanigans

(Anonymous) 2017-08-31 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
I recently started watching Luke Cage, and the time Turk interrupted Cottonmouth on the rooftop slayed me. I need MORE.

Maybe it's a 5+1, Five times Turk Barrett fucked up (be it ruining one of Matt's investigations, getting himself beaten up or caught, all in a humorous way, etc) and One time he actually helped.

Or maybe Matt and him are trapped somewhere and are forced to spend time together, or both go to jail, and that creates an odd-couple alliance of convenience.

Matt trolls the Avengers

(Anonymous) 2017-09-01 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Daredevil can fight creatures in the dark. He can fight invisible things. He knows everything happening in the room without even turning his head, and he knows what's going on in -other rooms.-

We, of course, know that this is because Matt isn't dependent on his vision at all. The Avengers, on the other hand, conclude that he has some sort of vision-related enhancement (ranging from x-ray vision, to night vision, to infrared - any or all of the above.) They continue to believe this for months.

Matt, in return, trolls them over it. "That's me. The eye guy. I see everything." "Wow. Look at this view. I wish you guys could appreciate it like I do."

+ Thor knew from the beginning and trolls right along with him.
++ Clint complains about how vision is supposed to be his thing.
++ Natasha is 80% sure he's messing with them somehow. Okay, 70% sure.
+++ JARVIS is helping him.

Minifill: Claire works at Midtown High

(Anonymous) 2017-09-01 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't seen the Defenders yet, so no spoilers on that please. This mini-story happens shortly after Spider-Man: Homecoming.

“Parker, sit down,” Claire snapped. Her voice rang with a timbre far too many New York City vigilantes would recognize. She couldn't decide if she was annoyed or pleased that she was adding one more vigilante to the ranks of people that had heard that tone. Parker sat himself back down in the cheap plastic seat that bent beneath his tiny frame. “Thank you.”

“Is this really necessary, Ms. Temple? I mean, because I feel great, and I think I really should be finishing up that test…”

“You already finished the test, Parker, unless you always doodle circuit boards while you’re planning to go back and change all of your answers.” Claire sighed when he looked all too eager to explain just how drawing odd little electrical designs was how he studied. “We aren’t here about that. We are here because the last nurse’s file on you is frighteningly vague.”

“I do go to a doctor outside of school, ma’am. I mean, not a lot or anything, I’m pretty healthy—”

Claire pinched the bridge of her nose between two fingers. If she wasn’t direct, she was sure she would have a headache by the end of this conversation and still not be any farther along in clearing the air. “Step one. Is your guardian hurting you?”

“Aunt May would never hurt me,” he retorted immediately, expression hardening to something far more mature for a moment. After a moment of steely-eyed denial, he melted back to the awkward adolescent boy she had dragged away from his calculus test. “Will never hurt me. She’s great.”

“Good.” Claire was unimpressed by a fifteen year old’s attempt at being cute while trying to hide that he could be dangerous. She’d seen better from a blind guy. “Step two. Does your normal doctor do good work with concussions, dislocations, excessive amounts of responsibility toward your fellow man?”

“Um. Sorry?”

Claire’s office door was closed. The mirrors she’d set up just so didn’t show anyone in the corridors. “Call it a nurse-specific version of intrepid detective syndrome. If you need help during school hours, I’ll help, and you will tell me if I ought to be involving CPS instead of the NYPD. So help me I can even be convinced to cover once in a great while.”

“Um… Nurse Temple?”

“Intrepid detective syndrome,” she said. “You know, whenever the detective in a series goes on vacation there’s a mystery just for them all lined up? Then there’s me. I take a temp position in an actual flipping school and find someone with every damn hallmark of a caped crusader, and do not interrupt me to mention basically none of my clientele has a cape, you are all too crazy to get to correct me.”

“Um.”

“Look. I know a vigilante when I fish one out of the dumpster, I can put my suspicions together with a bizarre string of absences and strange affinity for not being in the wrong spot without a goofy outfit.” She scribbled down a brief note and turned the file toward him. “You don’t have to tell me anything. Frankly I’d be happier if all of this was a phase and you never were in danger. Sign here for counseling.”

He took one of the cheap ballpoint pens she had by the gross carefully. Whether it was hospitals or high schools, pens would vanish or they would get coated in disgusting substances. Cheap was her top desired quality in pens. Parker acted like the pen was a trap the entire time he read carefully through her brief note. “You were counseling me about adjustment?”

“School staff members are painful gossips. They wanted me to let you vent a little about how you felt unworthy of your date’s affection or whatever. I’m the idiot that put together the pieces and started tracking a few of your notable absences. Work on being a touch less noticeable.” Claire stabbed the cap of her pen at the paper. “Unless you’d rather really have counseling?”

“Ah- no, no, you already did such a great job,” he said as he scrawled his name on the form. “Really. You are intimidatingly good at your job, even, and I’m sure the lessons will stay with me for keeps.”

“I sincerely doubt that,” she grumped. She scribbled her signature beneath his before putting the form into his file. “Additionally. I am not going to pretend that you're going to stop putting yourself at risk. I'm not an idiot. However, you seem to have a few friends.”

Parker actually blushed. “Um- yeah. I've been pretty lucky.”

“If your main friend is busy causing international havoc again, you should call me.” This was a terrible idea, Claire knew, but she was already scribbling her latest burner phone number on a sheet of computer paper. “Intrepid detective syndrome. I know a few more people that would never want you going alone against something like Birdman.”

Parker looked at the phone number before glancing back up. “It might make my aunt feel a little better. She- um- might've had a little accidental finding out about my phase here?”

“Weekly counseling,” Claire pronounced. She nearly smiled when her youngest vigilante nodded meekly. “You can tell me about high school stuff or when you might need some backup. I would rather that you stayed safe, and I think you know that, but I won't assume that you're just going to stop this. I know too many people with an over-developed sense of responsibility.”

“Thursdays?”

Claire glanced at her computer monitor to look over his schedule. “Gym?”

“Yeah. That one's the hardest to slow down in.”

“Got it. If you get grief about any of this, it's assigned counseling because people are busybodies. Understood?”

Parker ducked his head. He was smiling, though, so she doubted that she had managed to scare him. “Yes ma'am.”

The bell rang. She wasn't sure which of them was more relieved at the natural chance for a break . “I'll see you Thursday, Parker.”

She watched with bemusement as he dropped his backpack twice as he tried to stand and walk out of her office. Claire propped her chin up in her hand as she watched the crowds begin to build. Where there were heroes, there were villains. If she ended up counseling a teenage supervillain, maybe they'd be less complicated than the Defenders plus Spider-Man.

psst, anon-fail!

Re: Matt trolls the Avengers

(Anonymous) 2017-09-01 09:37 am (UTC)(link)
I need everything about this DESPERATELY. With special consideration given to "Wow. Look at this view. I wish you guys could appreciate it like I do," being used verbatim, and Thor and JARVIS helping. My God it's perfect.

Yeah, it could be an awkward morning! So typical of Matt to keep silent about his needs... Thanks!

There is something special about trapped fics. I'd like to read it.

[Sort-of-a-fill] Matt gen, crossover, Worst friends ever

(Anonymous) 2017-09-03 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
So I've been playing around with this idea for a while, if anyone's even still watching - this is gonna be part of a larger story, but it was the first thing I wrote. (And I might have missed the 'no identity reveal' clause the first time around, but it's at least most of the way through the story?)
-----
Matt tilted his head slightly as a heartbeat entered the building, accompanied by the harsh tang of metal, so strong he could almost taste it.

Across the room, Foggy paused in his work and perked up hopefully. Matt gave him a faint smile and a self-deprecating shrug. There were a few other businesses in the building; it might not be for them.

“What is it?” Nebula asked, tone slightly sharp as she picked up on the byplay.

“Just a good feeling,” Matt deflected, and nearly grinned as Nebula huffed lightly.

A few minutes later, Karen’s breath hitched in surprise, and Matt heard clearly,

“Are your employers in? I believe I have a business proposal for them.”

A beat, and then Karen cleared her throat and took a breath. Matt kept himself still, head cocked to listen.

“I thought you didn’t deal with humans, Mr…?”

“Magneto will do.”

Matt coughed, caught by surprise, and then reached up to rub his cheek ruefully. Why did this keep happening to him?

“What?” Foggy hissed at him – referring to his reaction, Matt assumed, but either way he didn’t have time to reply before the door opened.

Foggy’s heart rate picked up as soon as he caught sight of their newest guest, and he, too, cleared his throat before he spoke, rising to his feet because Foggy was a professional even in the face of superheroes and villains.

“Magneto.” Foggy’s voice hardly wavered, but Matt heard Nebula shift, breathing changing just slightly as she picked up on the changed mood. “Of course, we have a strict non-discrimination policy at Nelson and Murdock, but I feel I must warn you we’re also, ah, very selective-”

“Don’t worry, Mr. Nelson, I’m not asking for anything immoral,” Magneto interrupted smoothly before, very deliberately, turning to Matt. “I understand discrimination suits are one of your specialties.”

His heartbeat was steady; nothing in his body indicated that he was bracing for a fight. Matt let out a breath and gestured to an empty chair, keeping his posture loose and unconcerned.

“Perhaps you should sit,” he said quietly.

Magneto did, and the rest of the room let out a collective sigh. Foggy moved to sit beside Matt, and Karen, uncharacteristically, went to Foggy’s desk rather than returning to her own. There, she hummed with tension, though not quite as literally as Nebula.

“What is your proposal?” Matt asked directly, folding his hands neatly on his desk.

“Many law firms believe businesses are well within their rights to openly discriminate against mutants, both as clientele and as employees,” Magneto started, speaking just as plainly. “As I have a great number of mutants in my employ, this is a matter of significance to me. I would like to put you on retainer to handle these cases for my group. I would, of course, pay for all of them.”

Foggy elbowed him immediately, apparently concerned that the offer of payment would send him running. Matt kicked him back, but had to admit that it was a tempting proposal. It fell inside their moral code, and after the past few months, Matt was far less inclined to turn Magneto away on the basis of his forays into supervillainy.

“Why our firm?” Matt asked instead, somewhat suspicious. “I’m sure there are plenty that are more involved in mutant rights than we are.”

Magneto made a sound of distaste.

“Most of them are affiliated in some way with the X-Men and refuse to do dealings with my organization,” Magneto explained, clearly displeased. “And most of them have few or no mutants on staff. It is… unsatisfactory.”

“We have no mutants on staff,” Foggy pointed out, possibly unwillingly.

A rustle of clothing as Magneto shifted again – folding his hands on his lap, Matt thought.

“Perhaps none of you have the x-gene, but you are enhanced, aren’t you, Mr. Murdock?”

Matt went still. Beside him, Foggy stiffened, and across the room, Karen inhaled sharply.

In the silence that followed that statement, Nebula’s cybernetics whirred briefly, and then she asked, voice rough, “Enhanced?”

“A class of humans with abilities beyond the norm. Like yourself.” Matt reached up to adjust his glasses, not turning away from Magneto. “Why would you think I was enhanced, Magneto?”

Magneto had access to telepaths. If one of them had made the connection between Daredevil and Matt Murdock-

“Oh it’s quite clear to someone of my experience,” Magneto said easily, both his breathing and heartbeat holding steady, as if he were discussing nothing more interesting than the proposal he’d come in with. “Your medical records, for instance, indicate that you began complaining of enhanced senses almost as soon as you woke from your accident.”

Karen’s heartbeat picked up noticeably, as did Foggy’s. Nebula’s, regulated by machinery, did not, but he heard the distinct creak of the wooden desk straining under her grip.

“A common experience,” Matt said, acutely aware of his own speeding heart. “When one sense is taken away, the others are subjectively magnified afterward. I was just disoriented.”

“What?” he heard Nebula hiss to Karen, and Karen whispered back,

“Matt was blinded in a chemical accident as a child.”

“I also spoke to the nuns at St. Agnes,” Magneto continued, as if Matt had not spoken at all. “They had some… rather interesting stories to tell. I hear you used to scream about being able to hear ‘everything’, about the sounds of fighting down the street or the smell of burnt food across the building. That isn’t normal, Mr. Murdock.”
He sounded almost amused.

“In fact, it rather mirrors the experiences of many mutants just coming into their powers.”

A lengthy pause. Matt knew for a fact that he wasn’t the only one holding his breath, either.

There were many reasons why Matt concealed even his enhanced senses, beginning with his secret identity as Daredevil and ending with ‘are you even really blind’. And they were good reasons.

However.

He… did, really need to be more honest with Karen. And Nebula took awfully to lies.

He let out his breath.

“Is there a reason you’ve outed me to my entire office, Magneto?”

The woosh of Foggy’s sigh was nearly deafening, and after a moment, he muttered, “He’s wearing the most terrifying grin right now, buddy.”

“Simply a desire for transparency. Now, shall we get down to business?”

Matt/Frank, Dystopia AU, uneducated Matt, prison break

(Anonymous) 2017-09-03 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Matt has been in the state's system since he lost his father. As a blind kid he was not educated, he was trained to work in a concentration camp for criminals. He still has his special abilities, but he doesn't know much about the world outside the camp. He is blind, has no documents and no access to information, so he knows he cannot try to escape. But he is observant and thanks to his senses (heartbeats and stuff) he has noticed that a lot of prisoners are not guilty of what they have been charged with.
When Frank is brought into the camp as a prisoner, he is determined to break out. Matt senses that Frank is a better person than his jailers and warns him of something that he overhears, saving him. In return for his help Frank takes him along when he escapes.

Plot changes are allowed.
I'd love to see any details about the escape. Frank and Matt taking care of each other, surviving in bad conditions, probably away from civilization for a while, like outdoors, maybe in cheap accommodations/safe houses or some such...
Matt is clever and appealing, though he has kind of low self-esteem (no surprise considering his life experience), and Frank is his usual cool, gentlemanly self with no-BS attitude.
Happy (or hopeful) ending, please!

I feel it's too much to ask for, but one can always dream :)
