So S2 is coming in March! And as excited as we all are, I’m sure we’re all sad that it means that older prompts on the meme might just get forgotten about. So, this challenge is designed to keep us all inspired for the next couple of months, highlight the very best prompts on the meme for newbies and people who come post-S2 and want to get in the wayback machine, and just be fun for everyone!

There are multiple ways to participate in this challenge, even if you’re only a reader or lurker!

1. NOMINATE PROMPTS AND DISCUSS NOMINATIONS

This challenge is about discovering the hidden gems, forgotten about favourites, and most talked about, inspiring ideas hidden in the 6,000+ prompts on this meme and distilling them down to the favourites, the best of the best.

We need you to nominate your favourite unfilled prompts (from Prompt Post #1 to Prompt Post #8) across the following 21 subcategories:

You must choose only one category even if it fits into multiple categories (so an AU doesn’t have to go into the AU category, or an Ableism prompt doesn’t have to go there but can be considered hurt/comfort, for example). You don’t have to be the OP of the original prompt. You can nominate as many prompts as you’d like in as many categories as you’d like.

How does your nomination rise to the top?

Well, if it’s the only one in its category, it’s the winner by default. But if it’s not, a points system will be applied as follows:

1 point - each brief comment seconding the nomination (+1, seconded, *camping out*, etc.)
2 points - each additions to the prompt (suggestions on what could happen, conversation even if it veers OT that’s related, etc.) and comments on those additions
3 points - each mini-fill completed on the fill under 1000 words

This applies only to the new repost thread. What does this mean? Encourage people to second your nomination! And second others nominations if you want them to win too! We want to ensure that the prompts that win are the ones that everyone is really excited to see filled.

If it gets filled, fantastic! It will be disqualified from being nominated, but everyone’s happy because someone filled it! :D

2. SIGN UP AS A WRITER OR MULTIMEDIA FILLER

We are looking for writers, fan artists, or other multimedia artisans willing to commit to participating in the challenge from February 1 - March 15th.

The sign-up deadline is January 31, 2015. To sign up, click here to indicate the name you would like to use for the challenge (which does not have to be your fandom name) and the categories you are most interested in filling for and provide your email address to the challenge mod. If you are contributing something besides writing, indicate what that is as well.

Don’t take the list above as limiting. Any other suggested creative contribution (in case there’s someone out there who crochets or does flash animations or something) would also be welcomed.

You can state that you wish to write AND provide another kind of fill if you’re willing to fill a prompt in more than one category.

On February 1st, 21 winning prompts will be announced, one in each category. The prompts will be first come-first serve, with one writer and one multimedia filler being able to claim each one here on the meme. You can choose to write more than one fill for more than one category if you want. Fillers working on the same prompt are encouraged to be collaborative.

Written fills must be a minimum of 2500 words.
The deadline for all fills is March 15, 2015.

Once the prompts are all claimed, the fillers working on them will be announced to the kink meme community and there will be an open discussion area here on that prompt so that people can encourage you as you write, including offers to beta, new ideas or thoughts, and general cheerleading.

3. GENERAL CHEERLEADING AND WORD-SPREADING!

For this challenge to be successful, we need to bring back some people who may have left the kink meme or who may not realize one of their prompts is being boosted. We need to encourage writers and other fillers not just to sign up, but also to finish their fills. We may need pinch hitters and betas and additional organizers to catalogue the prompts nominated, etc. Primarily, we just need an active group of people willing to keep this meme and this challenge interesting.

So please spread the word even if you’re not participating, here and on Tumblr and in whatever fandom space you’re in with Daredevil fandom! And encourage the great conversations and community on this meme who make it what it is! This challenge is for everyone, and so we hope you all participate and enjoy it.

Glad to hear that :D I was thinking about combining both prompts because I am a weak soul and cannot leave Matt to wander around in the wilderness on his own. I really love the 'rural' prompt and will not let it go unfilled, even if slightly possessive behaviour is more of my thing in terms of kinks/fic. Thoughts? (on the idea of combining prompts, not necessarily my preferences ;>)

Oooh yes, I'd love to see how you made them work together.

Hmm, how about… (and I’m just throwing out ideas here, take ‘em or leave ‘em as you’d like)

Matt needs a reason to be in the woods, right? And if you’re doing the Scent Marking prompt, too, Foggy needs to be there with him. So, scenarios:

- It’s a safe house the Avengers/SHIELD put them in to temporarily get them off the radar; this could open the door for a more involved plot if you wanted that
- It’s some sort of professional conference held in the rugged outdoors because the conference runners are the kind of pretentious gurus who think what lawyers really need to do is get back in touch with nature
- It’s a Nelson family trip of some sort; maybe the whole brood, or maybe just a very small group of cousins who had a good deal on the place and Foggy wheedled Matt into taking a break

But no matter the scenario, Matt has to deal with being grumpy and out-of-sorts due to the ~great outdoors~ and he ALSO has to deal with the unwelcome surprise of intruders who are trying to lure Foggy away with ridiculous things like ‘nature hikes’, or ‘professional networking with the bees’, or ‘yeah, I was an undercover agent with SHIELD, want to see the scars I got saving the world from aliens?’. It’d be hell for him, basically.

Anon, thank you so much for the suggestions as I haven't really thought about WHY they are in the woods yet. One thing I know for sure though: I'd much prefer to write something relaxing and laid back rather than having them deal with stress caused by some superhero shit going down or them still being in a corporate setting in a way. Family gathering sounds like a good idea, although Foggy putting forward an office holiday trip of some kind wouldn't be too bad either (including Karen in what's happening is always fun). Thoughts?

Dear friends, do you think a 4 hour drive upstate is reasonable? I feel like I'm getting too much into geography now, but I just can't help it and now I'm looking for a semi-reasonable place they could actually go to. Writing is always so much easier when you know what to expect in a given area, especilaly when the story will rely quite heavily on the environment... And yeah, I'm a geographer. Maps and trip planning are fun. Indulge me.

Not a New Yorker so no idea about the geography, but if you're looking for somewhere suitably isolated, it looks like there are some state parks in under a three-hour drive (according to Google Maps). Having gone on three- and five-hour trips for this kind of thing, I would say they would have to be going somewhere pretty appealing to justify a four-hour drive. (Awesome lake? The traditional Nelson family campground?) Obviously it depends on your tolerance for long drives, but I wouldn't think city boy Matt would be able to handle a whole lot, haha. (Would the drive itself be hell for him, especially if they start heading up into the mountains? What does Matt think about winding roads?)

Maybe since they’re removed from the city-scents that blanket their days, it gives Matt the chance to really focus on Foggy. The possessiveness could come in reaction to the other people there, but he might also cling on to Foggy as an anchor in the face of all the new sensory input.
