So S2 is coming in March! And as excited as we all are, I’m sure we’re all sad that it means that older prompts on the meme might just get forgotten about. So, this challenge is designed to keep us all inspired for the next couple of months, highlight the very best prompts on the meme for newbies and people who come post-S2 and want to get in the wayback machine, and just be fun for everyone!

There are multiple ways to participate in this challenge, even if you’re only a reader or lurker!

1. NOMINATE PROMPTS AND DISCUSS NOMINATIONS

This challenge is about discovering the hidden gems, forgotten about favourites, and most talked about, inspiring ideas hidden in the 6,000+ prompts on this meme and distilling them down to the favourites, the best of the best.

We need you to nominate your favourite unfilled prompts (from Prompt Post #1 to Prompt Post #8) across the following 21 subcategories:

You must choose only one category even if it fits into multiple categories (so an AU doesn’t have to go into the AU category, or an Ableism prompt doesn’t have to go there but can be considered hurt/comfort, for example). You don’t have to be the OP of the original prompt. You can nominate as many prompts as you’d like in as many categories as you’d like.

How does your nomination rise to the top?

Well, if it’s the only one in its category, it’s the winner by default. But if it’s not, a points system will be applied as follows:

1 point - each brief comment seconding the nomination (+1, seconded, *camping out*, etc.)
2 points - each additions to the prompt (suggestions on what could happen, conversation even if it veers OT that’s related, etc.) and comments on those additions
3 points - each mini-fill completed on the fill under 1000 words

This applies only to the new repost thread. What does this mean? Encourage people to second your nomination! And second others nominations if you want them to win too! We want to ensure that the prompts that win are the ones that everyone is really excited to see filled.

If it gets filled, fantastic! It will be disqualified from being nominated, but everyone’s happy because someone filled it! :D

2. SIGN UP AS A WRITER OR MULTIMEDIA FILLER

We are looking for writers, fan artists, or other multimedia artisans willing to commit to participating in the challenge from February 1 - March 15th.

The sign-up deadline is January 31, 2015. To sign up, click here to indicate the name you would like to use for the challenge (which does not have to be your fandom name) and the categories you are most interested in filling for and provide your email address to the challenge mod. If you are contributing something besides writing, indicate what that is as well.

Don’t take the list above as limiting. Any other suggested creative contribution (in case there’s someone out there who crochets or does flash animations or something) would also be welcomed.

You can state that you wish to write AND provide another kind of fill if you’re willing to fill a prompt in more than one category.

On February 1st, 21 winning prompts will be announced, one in each category. The prompts will be first come-first serve, with one writer and one multimedia filler being able to claim each one here on the meme. You can choose to write more than one fill for more than one category if you want. Fillers working on the same prompt are encouraged to be collaborative.

Written fills must be a minimum of 2500 words.
The deadline for all fills is March 15, 2015.

Once the prompts are all claimed, the fillers working on them will be announced to the kink meme community and there will be an open discussion area here on that prompt so that people can encourage you as you write, including offers to beta, new ideas or thoughts, and general cheerleading.

3. GENERAL CHEERLEADING AND WORD-SPREADING!

For this challenge to be successful, we need to bring back some people who may have left the kink meme or who may not realize one of their prompts is being boosted. We need to encourage writers and other fillers not just to sign up, but also to finish their fills. We may need pinch hitters and betas and additional organizers to catalogue the prompts nominated, etc. Primarily, we just need an active group of people willing to keep this meme and this challenge interesting.

So please spread the word even if you’re not participating, here and on Tumblr and in whatever fandom space you’re in with Daredevil fandom! And encourage the great conversations and community on this meme who make it what it is! This challenge is for everyone, and so we hope you all participate and enjoy it.

And given his history...Matt probably thinks this is one of the most incredibly romantic things Frank could have done, doesn't he?

Although I'm not sure about the broken fingers - maybe Frank put him in mittens instead?

One of those bondage mittens? That would make a pretty picture. (He might also do arm binders? So Foggy finds Matt with his hands in mittens and bound behind his back, ankles cuffed to a radiator, and totally out of it, and as Claire takes him out of the arm binders she realizes one of his arms--his dominant one--is broken in like four places? And Matt's all like well I wouldn't stop struggling, so it totally makes sense)

And ofc Matt loves this gesture--Foggy don't you see? Don't you get it? He loves me enough to do something for me, even if he doesn't like it. He loves me enough to make sure I'll be okay. He loves me enough to not treat me like I'm fragile.

Oh god yes. And Foggy's like - No Matt, this isn't healthy or safe.

Matt kisses his cast absently for the next few weeks

Little gifts show up at the hospital, at Matt's office, at his house--boxes of expensive chocolates and fancy organic foods and low-maintenance flowers and maybe even a 'GET WELL' teddy bear at the hospital? (A Daredevil-suited teddy bear???)

Meanwhile Foggy is ripping out his hair, trying to explain to Matt how fucked-up this is, calling up hotlines to get tips on how to get through to him

Does Matt then come back to the office one day, looking like he got laid, and Foggy's like 'oh fuck what did he do to you now???' and Matt's like 'oh he apologized to me so much but I told him it was okay, I understood, I forgive him, it was so sweet, he fed me Foggy and we had the sweetest sex' and just. Just.

Do you think Frank's comfortable with Matt's reaction though, or is he as confused as Foggy and just going along with it because it's what Matt seems to want and he's incredibly gone on him?

I imagine Frank is baffled by Matt not being angry at him at all, and slightly terrified when he realizes that Matt interpreted the arm-breaking (what Frank thinks of as horrific thing that he's disturbed that he had the capacity to do) as a romantic gesture of Pure Love

That, and frankly very, very scared now of accidentally hurting Matt and him not defending himself. Maybe they have a super intense kink negotiation before the sweet make-up sex? And Frank makes him promise to fight back?

Frank and Foggy might actually get on reasonably well if it's about keeping Matt from getting himself killed. Maybe Frank gets in touch with Foggy, tries to get some perspective on Matt.

The most awkward conversation in the universe, oh god. "You broke his fucking arm" vs "Yeah and now he won't just be angry at me!!"

Why the fuck does he think it's a sign of love? (Has Foggy learned much about Stick by this point you think?)

Possibly just that he was Matt's old blind ninja sensei

It's entirely possible that Matt just made him sound kind of crabby and old and shit, not, uh, violently abusive and twisting Matt's entire perception of love and sacrifice around

Because even though he knows that Stick's a dick he still doesn't get that he was abusive.

Matt's possible reasoning: Frank clearly didn't want to do it to me but he did it anyway because he thought I needed it, he cared enough about me to push past his personal morals/squicks, he loves me enough to make *sure* I wouldn't get killed, no matter what it took, he loves me enough to be thorough/not underestimate me/put me in binders/mittens/handcuffs as well as break my arm, he loves me enough to not treat me like I'm fragile, he loves me enough to recognize that this was the only way to stop me, Frank loves me enough to do the Right Thing For Me, to make the tough decisions

That actually makes a sick sort of sense, if you accept the initial precept that it's an act of love.

"Shit," Claire mutters as she cuts the strings that are knotted and holding the--arm-binder thingy shut.

She yanks them out like shoelaces as Foggy tries to ground Matt. Matt barely responds to the questions; he looks heavily out of it still, mumbling about Frank and how sweet it was that he cared enough to make sure he didn't get himself killed.

Foggy wants to scream.

Claire gets the thing off, and Matt sighs and brings around his arms--

And one of them is broken, what the fuck, one of them looks wobbly and wrong and like from a First Aid textbook. Matt smiles and moves his other arm around slowly. Claire takes off the creepy bondage mittens next, picking the padlocks, and gets the ankle cuffs that have chained Matt to the radiator next.

"You need a hospital," Claire informs Matt, and he's so out of it that he doesn't argue, just lets Foggy help him up and starts walking with them to the car.

"He had to," Matt says. "He had to break my arm, don't worry. I wouldn't stop fighting, I wouldn't let him put on the ankle-cuffs or the binders or the mittens, so he had to. Because he loves me," and Foggy almost cries.
