Kink Meme Repost Madness!

All Rounds & Other Useful Links
Rules | Mod Post | Discussion/Off-Topic Post | Writing Challenges
Fills: Completed & WIPs

The new challenge is here! It's been written and arranged by [personal profile] enthusiasmgirl, so please direct all questions and thanks to her :D

So S2 is coming in March! And as excited as we all are, I’m sure we’re all sad that it means that older prompts on the meme might just get forgotten about. So, this challenge is designed to keep us all inspired for the next couple of months, highlight the very best prompts on the meme for newbies and people who come post-S2 and want to get in the wayback machine, and just be fun for everyone!

There are multiple ways to participate in this challenge, even if you’re only a reader or lurker!

1. NOMINATE PROMPTS AND DISCUSS NOMINATIONS

This challenge is about discovering the hidden gems, forgotten about favourites, and most talked about, inspiring ideas hidden in the 6,000+ prompts on this meme and distilling them down to the favourites, the best of the best.

We need you to nominate your favourite unfilled prompts (from Prompt Post #1 to Prompt Post #8) across the following 21 subcategories:

THE FEELS
  • Whump or Hurt/Comfort
  • Romantic Tropefic (fake marriage or dating, alternate first meeting, etc.)
  • Tooth-Rotting Fluff
DAREDEVIL FANDOM TROPES
  • Ableism and Disability
  • Heightened Senses
  • Catholicism
OTHER PEOPLE’S PLAYGROUNDS
  • Non-MCU Crossover & Fusion
  • MCU Crossover
  • Comic-Inspired
PUTTING THE KINK IN THE KINK MEME
  • PWP and Smut (although these are obviously also encouraged in all other categories if they fit)
  • BDSM or D/S AU
  • Polyamory
CHARACTER STUDIES
  • The Ladies (Marci, Claire, Karen, Vanessa or others and can include femslash prompts)
  • The Villains (Fisk, Wesley, the Ranskahov brothers, etc.)
  • Foggy is a _______ (Prompts that fill in that blank somehow even if it’s not phrased that way in the header)
ALTERNATE UNIVERSES
  • Demons or Magical Realism
  • Soulmate or Soulmark
  • General Alternate Universes (Wild West, Coffee Shop, Outer Space, Prostitution, etc. are all welcome!)
CANON APPROACHES
  • Pre-Canon
  • Nelson v. Murdock
  • Canon Divergence
To nominate, simply repost your prompts below on the NOMINATED PROMPTS comment using the prompt header as the subject line and the following template in the body:

Category:
Prompt Details:
Link to Original Prompt:

You must choose only one category even if it fits into multiple categories (so an AU doesn’t have to go into the AU category, or an Ableism prompt doesn’t have to go there but can be considered hurt/comfort, for example). You don’t have to be the OP of the original prompt. You can nominate as many prompts as you’d like in as many categories as you’d like.

How does your nomination rise to the top?

Well, if it’s the only one in its category, it’s the winner by default. But if it’s not, a points system will be applied as follows:
  • 1 point - each brief comment seconding the nomination (+1, seconded, *camping out*, etc.)
  • 2 points - each additions to the prompt (suggestions on what could happen, conversation even if it veers OT that’s related, etc.) and comments on those additions
  • 3 points - each mini-fill completed on the fill under 1000 words

This applies only to the new repost thread. What does this mean? Encourage people to second your nomination! And second others nominations if you want them to win too! We want to ensure that the prompts that win are the ones that everyone is really excited to see filled.

If it gets filled, fantastic! It will be disqualified from being nominated, but everyone’s happy because someone filled it! :D

The nomination period closes on January 31, 2016

2. SIGN UP AS A WRITER OR MULTIMEDIA FILLER

We are looking for writers, fan artists, or other multimedia artisans willing to commit to participating in the challenge from February 1 - March 15th.

The sign-up deadline is January 31, 2015. To sign up, click here to indicate the name you would like to use for the challenge (which does not have to be your fandom name) and the categories you are most interested in filling for and provide your email address to the challenge mod. If you are contributing something besides writing, indicate what that is as well.

Multimedia options include:
  • Fan Art
  • Podfic
  • Fanvid
  • Fan Mix
  • GIFs
  • Meta
Don’t take the list above as limiting. Any other suggested creative contribution (in case there’s someone out there who crochets or does flash animations or something) would also be welcomed.

You can state that you wish to write AND provide another kind of fill if you’re willing to fill a prompt in more than one category.

On February 1st, 21 winning prompts will be announced, one in each category. The prompts will be first come-first serve, with one writer and one multimedia filler being able to claim each one here on the meme. You can choose to write more than one fill for more than one category if you want. Fillers working on the same prompt are encouraged to be collaborative.

Written fills must be a minimum of 2500 words.
The deadline for all fills is March 15, 2015.

Once the prompts are all claimed, the fillers working on them will be announced to the kink meme community and there will be an open discussion area here on that prompt so that people can encourage you as you write, including offers to beta, new ideas or thoughts, and general cheerleading.

3. GENERAL CHEERLEADING AND WORD-SPREADING!

For this challenge to be successful, we need to bring back some people who may have left the kink meme or who may not realize one of their prompts is being boosted. We need to encourage writers and other fillers not just to sign up, but also to finish their fills. We may need pinch hitters and betas and additional organizers to catalogue the prompts nominated, etc. Primarily, we just need an active group of people willing to keep this meme and this challenge interesting.

So please spread the word even if you’re not participating, here and on Tumblr and in whatever fandom space you’re in with Daredevil fandom! And encourage the great conversations and community on this meme who make it what it is! This challenge is for everyone, and so we hope you all participate and enjoy it.

If you're not trying to start a fight - or sabotage this prompt by disrupting discussion on it - why not bring your issues up in the questions thread?

I am not going to count wank, or discussions that are waaaaay OT and about whether there should be discussions at all (or other technicalities like that), as being points-earning, first off.

And if it's less than a paragraph, does not contain prose or dialogue and it's clearly idea sharing and not actually attempting a proper fill, then I will not count it as a mini-fill either.

However, if people start batting around small sections and basically round robin a fill that's over 1000 words, at that point I'll consider it filled.

Also, let it be known that the challenge filler has absolutely ZERO obligation to fill it as specified by all the commenters. They can take advice certainly and use that as inspiration, but they don't have to.

That being said, I do hope that nobody's that shy about creating a fill for a prompt and disqualifying it from nomination. That's also encouraged, because the idea is that we want to fill them anyway eventually! And remember that prose or dialogue mini-fills (when not adding up to more than 1000 words) actually earn 3 points on the prompt! So please nobody gang up on someone who fills a prompt early and disqualifies it or mini-fillers either. If the worst thing that happens is that your prompt misses out on having a fill created for it because it gets a fill, it's still win-win!

I do actually love the enthusiasm and investment, and thanks for the feedback on this question. I hope that clarifies it a bit. :)

This answered all my questions, thank you! <3 ('round robin', that's the phrase I was looking for earlier, for the life of me I couldn't remember what it was called...)

To clarify, only SOME of the above would count as mini-fills because they are clearly prose.

So the below:

"And whenever Matt gets anywhere near any obstacle, Frank tells him softly what it is, runs a hand through Matt's hair, his hand coming down to gently cup his ass, make him squeak...

Meanwhile Matt is listening in on everyone's prison conversations, detecting plans, because he can afford to just let Frank guide him and not use his senses for that part at the moment."

would be considered a mini-fill, both points-wise and towards the 1000 words.

But this comment:

Someone gets the bright idea to get Frank sent to solitary.
The first time someone tries to fuck with the blind guy, they find that he can still locate their balls with his knee

would not be.

Does that make sense to everyone and sound fair? One is actual writing, the other reads more like a plot suggestion.

Just another question, I always discount fill discussion as an actual fill, because...it's mostly not written as a story? Like, there's not much of a red thread, no *narrative*, not much character development, and no...chronological development? Like, I LOVE reading discussion. But it's always more of an extended summary than a fill, no?

Again, as stated in the clarification there is a difference between filling and discussing.

If it's got dialogue or clear prose, I'm counting it towards a fill. Keep in mind that it would take dozens of those to get to a thousand words. But dialogue and prose that can be assembled into something resembling a chronological story? Not just discussion. They make it much much harder for a potential filler and again they destroy the competition to the point where people may not want to repost in the category anymore.

So again, I encourage you 100% to keep doing it. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. But at a certain point I'm gonna set this aside for an extra prompt in the challenge if it gets popular enough just to keep things fair and give other prompts a way to compete.

Again, keep it up though. Nobody is complaining about your enthusiasm or love of this prompt!

*points up* Someone already did, with a link pointing down here. I'd rather keep the discussion all in one place until a mod gets here - they can delete extraneous comments as needed, including this one.

Also, dude, not trying to 'sabatoge' anything. I think this prompt is an interesting one and I'd like to see where a potential filler will take it. But there have been a lot of questions regarding the rules and eligibility, and this thread just happened to be the first one to highlight another grey area. *shrugs*
