So S2 is coming in March! And as excited as we all are, I’m sure we’re all sad that it means that older prompts on the meme might just get forgotten about. So, this challenge is designed to keep us all inspired for the next couple of months, highlight the very best prompts on the meme for newbies and people who come post-S2 and want to get in the wayback machine, and just be fun for everyone!

There are multiple ways to participate in this challenge, even if you’re only a reader or lurker!

1. NOMINATE PROMPTS AND DISCUSS NOMINATIONS

This challenge is about discovering the hidden gems, forgotten about favourites, and most talked about, inspiring ideas hidden in the 6,000+ prompts on this meme and distilling them down to the favourites, the best of the best.

You must choose only one category even if it fits into multiple categories (so an AU doesn’t have to go into the AU category, or an Ableism prompt doesn’t have to go there but can be considered hurt/comfort, for example). You don’t have to be the OP of the original prompt. You can nominate as many prompts as you’d like in as many categories as you’d like.

How does your nomination rise to the top?

Well, if it’s the only one in its category, it’s the winner by default. But if it’s not, a points system will be applied as follows:

1 point - each brief comment seconding the nomination (+1, seconded, *camping out*, etc.)
2 points - each additions to the prompt (suggestions on what could happen, conversation even if it veers OT that’s related, etc.) and comments on those additions
3 points - each mini-fill completed on the fill under 1000 words

This applies only to the new repost thread. What does this mean? Encourage people to second your nomination! And second others nominations if you want them to win too! We want to ensure that the prompts that win are the ones that everyone is really excited to see filled.

If it gets filled, fantastic! It will be disqualified from being nominated, but everyone’s happy because someone filled it! :D

2. SIGN UP AS A WRITER OR MULTIMEDIA FILLER

We are looking for writers, fan artists, or other multimedia artisans willing to commit to participating in the challenge from February 1 - March 15th.

The sign-up deadline is January 31, 2015. To sign up, click here to indicate the name you would like to use for the challenge (which does not have to be your fandom name) and the categories you are most interested in filling for and provide your email address to the challenge mod. If you are contributing something besides writing, indicate what that is as well.

Don’t take the list above as limiting. Any other suggested creative contribution (in case there’s someone out there who crochets or does flash animations or something) would also be welcomed.

You can state that you wish to write AND provide another kind of fill if you’re willing to fill a prompt in more than one category.

On February 1st, 21 winning prompts will be announced, one in each category. The prompts will be first come-first serve, with one writer and one multimedia filler being able to claim each one here on the meme. You can choose to write more than one fill for more than one category if you want. Fillers working on the same prompt are encouraged to be collaborative.

Written fills must be a minimum of 2500 words.
The deadline for all fills is March 15, 2015.

Once the prompts are all claimed, the fillers working on them will be announced to the kink meme community and there will be an open discussion area here on that prompt so that people can encourage you as you write, including offers to beta, new ideas or thoughts, and general cheerleading.

3. GENERAL CHEERLEADING AND WORD-SPREADING!

For this challenge to be successful, we need to bring back some people who may have left the kink meme or who may not realize one of their prompts is being boosted. We need to encourage writers and other fillers not just to sign up, but also to finish their fills. We may need pinch hitters and betas and additional organizers to catalogue the prompts nominated, etc. Primarily, we just need an active group of people willing to keep this meme and this challenge interesting.

So please spread the word even if you’re not participating, here and on Tumblr and in whatever fandom space you’re in with Daredevil fandom! And encourage the great conversations and community on this meme who make it what it is! This challenge is for everyone, and so we hope you all participate and enjoy it.

Prompt Details: So the baddie of the week casts a curse that makes Matt forget the people he cares about most. He still knows he’s a lawyer, still knows he’s Daredevil. He remembers the orphanage and Fogwell’s and Columbia. But he doesn’t remember his father. He doesn’t remember Karen or Claire. He doesn’t remember Foggy.

Even if his memories of specific people are blocked, the feelings might still be there. Muscle memory. So he still trusts Claire when she comes at him with a scalpel and sutures. He still reaches for Foggy automatically when they go to walk outside. He finds himself reaching out to touch this Foggy person a lot actually.

Up to you if the curse fades out or if Matt has to go hunt the bad guy down to reverse it. Would prefer it not be permanent because I am a softy like that.

In the previous prompt, I loved the idea of Matt finding saved voicemail messages from Foggy that he has no context for but that give him powerful emotional reactions.

"...one message could seem like nothing special at all, just Foggy clearing his throat and asking Matt if he wanted to come over for some Thai. They were supposedly best friends, surely they did that kind of thing a lot? (it was the first time after learning about DD that Foggy reached out to Matt for non-work related purposes.)"

"...and yet, a cleared throat and an invitation to come over, an offer of Thai food (he likes Thai, doesn't he, does he?) leaves him kneeling on the floor, hand pressed to his mouth, choking on tears, because he doesn't remember and he NEEDS TO remember, he needs to, he needs to, oh God, why doesn't he remember."

Another bit from the previous prompt:

We could have face touching redux. :D

"Can I - ?" Matt reaches out, his hand touches Foggy's face. "Did we ever do this?" And Foggy's ignoring how suggestive that sounds.

"Uh, yeah, once. Years ago, in school."

And then we have a lovely face touching scene and it's going okay and Foggy's hoping that this will help, Matt looks like he's lost in his head, and then Matt leans in to kiss him. (because he's running on sensory input and feelings right now, not thought, and his feelings tell him he wants to kiss Foggy.)

Foggy backpedals so fast. Because Matt has lost his memory, because they've never done this, because of guilt - has he been sending out signals or something? He probably has, dear god.

And everything is deliciously awkward and confusing.

And Matt asks, so we were never...like that?

Foggy says, because it's true, no.

But now Matt's thinking that maybe the old Matt had wanted to be.

Matt leads a pretty spartan life, but the bits he does keep around are probably hugely sentimental and thus completely incomprehensible to him now: a champion's robe; a child's bracelet made of old waxy paper; a deflated circle of wrinkled plastic filled with the smell of helium (a balloon?); a little plastic dinosaur. A stained napkin with ink bleeding across it.

Then he gets the idea to check his will. And everything he has is left to the named executor - Franklin Nelson.

I can see Matt going to pull out the DD suit and finding this random robe made of slippery material folded neatly on top of the hidden compartment. He's confused about it, but figures it's a memory thing and he can sort it out later. He shoves it to the side.

Later, he holds it up casually to Foggy and asks, so, what's this then? Part of a really sentimental Halloween costume?

And that's when they figure out that Matt forgot his dad, too.

What a gut punch it would be if later on, Matt realizes he forgot Stick, too.

What would be really interesting to see is how differently Matt used to treat people he trusted versus how he treats them now when he doesn't know them and his walls are up.

It could be small things. Like, Foggy gets a little shock when he realizes that he hasn't seen Matt with his glasses off since the start of this mess.
