Maybe it was for a Halloween costume, or a joke. Maybe someone (Karen!) guilt-tripped him into seeing Rocky Horror all dressed up. Maybe it was somehow for a case or Daredevil business, like he used it to get close to someone who has a kink for it and had information he needed.

And then Foggy sees him like that, and suddenly he sees Matt in a whole new light.

Matt is the last man on earth. No Foggy, or Karen, no more sirens, no more cries for help, nothing but the silence.

It’s day 860- no, wait, 870. 875. Day 875 since the world ended. He thinks. He’s pretty sure. Matt’s been keeping count, adding tally marks to his walking stick but it’s hard to estimate how much time has passed when he can’t see the sun and his watch stopped working about 258 days into this.

Matt’s still in New York. He thinks. The buildings are starting to become less and less recognizable. He doesn’t know if they’re falling apart or if he is. At least the bodies are gone, now. They bloated, and then rotted and got eaten by the rats or the new animals that moved in once the virus swept through, killing everyone in its path.

Everyone except Matt. He still doesn’t understand that one.

Claire was one of the first to go, working in a hospital and all. Matt visited her, one last time before she died. Back when they thought this was just another superbug. Back before the virus took Karen. Took Marci. He can still hear Foggy crying in the wake of her death.

Foggy didn’t cry, when it was his turn. Neither did Matt- he screamed himself hoarse and didn’t say anything for a long time. For too long, really, and now there’s no one left to talk to at all but himself. And the rats.

Matt’s apartment is still standing but he doesn’t live there. He was holing up in their old offices, tracing familiar paths between the rooms, before that building became too unstable and he was forced to leave. He doesn’t really have a home anymore. Not that it matters, these days.

The rats are easy to catch, easy to eat over whatever he can build a fire out of. Some days, he’s lucky to find the old wooden handle of a broom, tucked away in some forgotten store closet. Most days he raids the places people used to call home, pulling down books and pictures and stacks of forgotten mail left sitting on kitchen counters. They all burn, easy enough. Everything burns if you have the patience to work at it.

“I don’t think you’d like rat, Foggy,” Matt says as he cooks the small animal. The rats are getting smaller every month, thin and stringy and tough to chew through. But the larger animals, the ones that Matt spends most of his days (is it really a day when he has no idea how much time passes anymore?) trying to avoid, he doesn't think he could hunt on his own. He can hear them, though. Their thundering hearts, their heavy panting, the dull thud of their paws against old streets. He doesn’t know what they are. Maybe they never existed, before the virus.

Some days he feels like he never existed, before the virus.

“I don’t think even you could make these things taste good, Karen.” She isn’t there. Neither is Foggy. He hears them sometimes, though. Soft whispers in his ears asking when he’s going to join them.

Matt doesn’t know. He doesn’t know why he’s still here. Why he’s still trying to survive when there’s no one left except him. Him and the rats and the new beasts that prowl the night.

They thought the government could help, at first, but the government quarantined the city and left them to die. It didn’t matter, in the end. Word got to them that the rest of the country, the rest of the world was infected too. Still, they kept fighting even as thousands of people started dropping dead every day. Sirens blaring at all hours, police and firefighters and ambulances and emergency alerts, until there was no one left to turn the sirens on anymore. Until there was no one screaming for the sirens to come save them.

Matt wonders sometimes, who the last person to die was. “Although I suppose that will be me, eventually.”

Eventually. It doesn’t matter when, not really. It doesn’t matter how much time passes here, in this room that used to be someone’s home in a world that used to be alive. There's a skeleton still lying in the bed in the other room from where the person died in their sleep. The stench of rotting flesh clings to the very walls, but Matt is used to the smell by now.

He’s used to a lot of things, by now, after 875- 875? He thought it was into the 890s at this point- days on his own.

No, not his own. Foggy is whispering in his ear again. Nelson and Murdock, ‘til death do us part, right Matt?

Come join us, Matt, Karen pleads. Come join us.

“I’m not alone,” Matt says to the silence.

The rats squeak in reply. In the distance, something howls.

It’s day 903- 904?- since the world ended.

Matt/Foggy, Foggy Bear and Marci: the College Days

Instead of Matt as his roommate, maybe it was Marci. However you chose to take it, I want Marci and Foggy to be best friends in college instead of Foggy and Matt. Marci is very over protective of her 'sassy gay best friend', aggressively getting bad dates to get the hell away from him, stopping potential rapes, studying together, just Marci and Foggy being best friends.
Then, they leave college, start a practice together, maybe stay roommates. Then, Foggy meets someone. Daredevil/Matt Murdock.. And naturally, Marci's overprotective, investigating every detail of her best friend's new crush. She figures out he's Daredevil. Foggy forces her to wingman for him and eventually, they get together. After Marci gives her blessing of course. (Maybe he even joins the practice.)

I've seen a prompt like this before, but I can't really remember where it was, so: what's everyone's emotions like? okay, not just emotions, but also: personality islands, core memories, imaginations, their fucked-up subconscious, all that, what are those like? do Matt's emotions have a timeshare like - Anger gets the console when Matt's being Daredevil (and has the tiny little horns to boot) and the rest of the time it's slightly (slightly) more balanced? how much of a tizzy are Karen's emotions in post-shooting, when it becomes a core memory of hers (oh, shit is the best way to sum up their reactions)?

I am fairly certain that Foggy's Joy is in charge, but considering that he drinks rather a lot, I figure his emotions are also kind of a mess like Riley's in the film. actually I want to see how they react to Nelson VS Murdock, like. wow. WOW MATT.

Foggy knew that Matt had a string of short relationships while they were at college, and he heard the rumors that Matt is the absolute fucking master of oral sex, but he didn't know that those relationships never lasted because while Matt will give head, he won't let his partners touch him anywhere below the waist, even with clothes on.

Matt was born intersex, and despite the doctors at the hospital suggesting it throughout Matt's childhood, Jack fought for Matt not to have surgery to make him look more “normal.” Matt is raised male, with the idea that he can choose later in life what he identifies as, and decide himself if he wants surgery when he is old enough.

But Jack died, and the nuns at St Agnes weren't eager to talk about Matt's “condition” as they described it, and they told him never to let anyone know about it, so Matt grew up hating his own body.

Post season one, Matt & Foggy realize they are in love, and Matt falls into the same pattern of giving amazing oral sex, and then not letting Foggy touch him.

After a while Foggy gets frustrated. Foggy jokingly asks if Matt is really a girl because he won't let him see him naked, and Matt starts screaming at Foggy that he isn't. Matt has always felt male, but he he is haunted by the fact that someone else could have made that decision for him when he was just a baby.

Foggy eventually gets Matt to calm down and explain the situation to him. Matt explains that he has 5 alpha reductase deficiency, and expects Foggy to leave him because of it.

Foggy stays. He loves Matt just the way he is.

I don't mind if Matt's dfab or dmab or d-anything-ab, but I just love the idea of gender presentation being another level of reasoning between ey and Daredevil.

Like, Matt presents as female during the day, and so nobody suspects (unless the writer wants them to) that she is also Daredevil. Or the other way round, and DD is a catsuit-wearing femme fatale while Matt is simply a very handsome lawyer. Or. Anything with this, really.

I do love Spiderman crossovers but Peter Parker being involved would be a bonus and not a need.

Hm ... I'm intrigued.

He doesn't even need a scale because he can tell the weight of everything to the tenth of an ounce. He can smell exactly what meat is quality and what is not. Whatever Foggy's secret is, does Matt confront him about it? Do they have a mutual honesty session where Foggy admits to his thing and Matt tells Foggy about Daredevil. Does the NvM fight go better because both of them have been hiding something big and they both get a better chance of explaining why they've been keeping the secret from their best friend.

+ Foggy's been keeping his secret long before/since he's known Matt.
(++ I adore fics where Foggy isn't exactly un-powered human, i.e he's a mutant/angel/ eldritch god, so I'm happy with anything along this line.)

Frank and Matt are teaming up against a common foe when, through handwavey magic or plot device of your choice, Matt gets turned into a woman. As if that wasn't bad enough, he collapses on the ground as if in pain as soon as the villain vanishes, and of course Frank knows about the no hospitals rule.

Cue Frank taking Matt to one of his safehouses/Matt's apartment to take care of him, and silently freaking out because he thinks the redhead is seriously wounded. Matt is curled in on himself, seems to be running a fever and moans at every touch, and Frank is seriously worried that he's hurting him as he checks him over for injuries, even though he's trying to be gentle.

Give me Frank figuring out that Matt is really just very aroused, and his super-senses are making everything worse. Frank reluctantly helping him once he realizes how bad it is, but choosing not to fuck him or get off himself despite how turned on he is, because that feels too much like taking advantage of Matt's vulnerable state. Exactly how he helps Matt is up to you ;) but...

Bonus points for Frank letting Matt rub against his thigh.

Matt is full of guilt and he's convinced that everything bad in the world is somehow his fault. Before he became a vigilante, he had to deal with that guilt and self-hatred when it became too much, right? So. Matt used to go out and pick up guys, the violent type that would always end up hurting him. Then he proceeded to let them have rough and violent (and bloody?) sex with him.

He stopped doing that when he became Daredevil. But now he's benched because of a really serious injury and the guilt is too much.

+100000 if Foggy was aware of that really bad coping mechanism of Matt's and actually considers vigilantism an improvement
