I am torn, anon! do we play like "matt thinks Vanessa and Fisk are going to finally go after the people he loves"? or do we play like "matt thinks Vanessa and Fisk are angling for him to be their tool?"

Don't get me wrong, I love a good "matt loves karen & foggy more than he loves himself" kind of plotline, but I also think that matt has really strong feelings about daredevil as the protector of the community, and if he thought V & F were planning to pervert that, well.


like. Fisk framed him once, right? But if he thought that they were somehow setting him up to play an integral part in (some disaster), he would probably FLIP THE FUCK OUT. idk?

OP - I would have to think that it would have to be something that Matt thinks has the potential to ruin his life. So yeah, probably something to do with Daredevil. Or yeah, he could probably also get the sudden partially-correct information that they're trying to mould him into a tool to be used (by that I mean, old information, because they actually just want him for HIM now because, oh gosh, he's an actual human being that they actually like now in some weird way).

(I had thoughts of maybe one of them wanting to make a sex tape and Matt noticing, but somehow I don't think they'd do that in this verse?)

OP - or, or or or, you know, that whole bring-him-over-to-the-darkside thing could still be their plan, but it's only afterwards - after Matt feels like the ground has swallowed him up, after they realize they've unintentionally really hurt him (and Fisk never thought he'd ever see the day where he'd feel disgusted with himself for making an "enemy" cry) - that they come to the realization that it's not what they actually want anymore? idk???

YES, HOSTILE but also: BETRAYED!!! AND TRYING TO HIDE HIS FEELINGS BEHIND ANGER AND FAILING MISERABLY (you suck at lying, Matthew, we've already established this)

and also: totally unwilling to even listen to a moment of them trying to explain their way out of this and regretting confronting them immediately because fuck he's stammering and he's going to start ugly-crying fuck fuck fuck gotta get out of there

and basically it's just a compete mess.

OH! yes, because: these people have seen him vulnerable, and that was probably the worst mistake of his life, to get so vulnerable in front of them - they must've been laughing.

("You know I can hear you from the street," Matt says. In a perfect world, it'd come out of his mouth like a fucking snowstorm: as it is, he can feel his body starting to react to the adrenaline, and in a couple of minutes they'll see the physical reaction.)

Um. Yes. Yep.

He's angry at them but he's also furious at himself for allowing himself to be in this situation in the first place.

But it's also a little bit like a LOT like heartbreak which. Surprise, Matt. Turns out you've got this tendency to latch onto people who show you the least bit of kindness because you're a lonely mess of a person.
