author!anon: NO. I'm not thinking about about the fanboy crush Foggy would have on Owen--"Raptors, Matt, he trains motherfuckin' raptors"--and I'm not thinking about how Jurassic World!Claire and Karen is possibly the greatest pairing my brain has ever given me.

And I'm definitely not thinking about Owen introducing Matt to his raptor children and hoping they'll approve of their new mommy. I WILL NOT, my Daredevil fics already got derailed by a Jurassic World fic, don't do this to meeee

Of course not. after all, once Foggy met Owen, he WOULD be able to talk about nothing but how cool he was, and Matt would get UNBELIEVABLY JEALOUS AND SNIPPY, for the sole reason that thinking about Matt neurotically hoarding his three (3) friends amuses me.

"so he trains raptors," matt says. "i bet it's not that hard."

i mean. that would. you can't get distracted by something like THAT, author.

(JURASSIC WORLD CLAIRE, the nurse who's able to handle all of Matt's increasingly bizarre and frightening injuries because the training to work at Jurassic World as a nurse is byzantine and comprehensive. It would be ridiculous to start thinking about how Karen would catch her attention, of course. Utterly ridiculous.)

author!anon: I'm not thinking about it. "I could train a raptor," Matt mutters petulantly under his breath and Foggy hears "I want to train a raptor," which sends him into panic mode of course.

"NO MATT, YOU CAN'T TRAIN RAPTORS, I ALREADY WORRY ABOUT YOU FALLING OFF BUILDINGS, I'M NOT GOING TO CONSTANTLY WORRY ABOUT YOU BEING EATEN TOO, KAREN, TELL HIM HES NOT ALLOWED NEAR RAPTORS."

and Karen at her desk doesn't even look up, she's doing WORK unlike some of the people in this office. "Matt, you're not allowed near raptors. Unless they're trying to eat us," because that is, as always, the exception to the rule.

And I'm not thinking about Owen trying to remind himself that Matt is a people, he should not use his mad skills on Matt as if he were a raptor, there's probably something vaguely morally wrong with that. Even if it would work. Even if it would TOTALLY work, Matt is basically a confused raptor in a human body, all Owen wants to do is help.

Oh, and OWEN GRADY, AVENGERS CONSULTANT ON DINOSAURS AND TOOTHY MONSTERS, because that is a thing, that is definitely a thing, Loki rides a dinosaur through times square and the avengers are like "ah, fuck, somebody call Grady."

OWEN. See, he knows that Matt's a people, you don't train people, that's ridiculous. He's just establishing patterns, that's all. Matt seems like the kind of guy who works best when he doesn't get surprised.

ANON i know you said that we might have to think about Owen bringing Matt to meet his velociraptor children BUT I JUST REALIZED that Matt probably has little-to-no concept of what a velociraptor looks like?!? owen's like "so did you see pictures of raptors, before the accident?"

Matt's like "uh not really i mean. i don't remember?"

"COME TOUCH MY RAPTOR'S FACES," owen asks politely.

STOP IT.

Because basically, Matt's world is chaos. There's no two ways about it, he may be strictly controlled, but is fact that Matt Murdock cannot control what happens around him, no matter how much he wants to. People are unpredictable, even with his super senses giving him an edge up. But Owen, Owen is always exactly where he says he'll be. He telegraphs out every action with his whole body, with his voice, in a way that is so, so clear to Matt. There's no guess work with Owen, because he always tells him exactly where they stand.

AND YES. "COME TOUCH MY RAPTORS, THEY'RE BEAUTIFUL AND YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT."

"DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH THAT RAPTOR, MATTHEW MURDOCK" Foggy can be heard shouting from miles away.

But of course Matt does and the raptor IS beautiful and Owen beams like a proud papa and the raptors are like "alright, he'll do, you can keep him."

(If none of this makes sense its because my phone is like what do you think you're doing trying to format things or edit. I'm on my lunch break doing this, that's what you've DONE TO ME.

And I'm still not writing this whole fill, damn you. I say as my resistance becomes weaker and weaker.)

I have it in my head, somehow, that Owen knew RIGHT AWAY that Matt was Daredevil without having to be told? "the body language was unmistakable, no big" and this is also a Thing, because Owen is the guy who understands exactly how dangerous Matt is. He respects him totally, but he's not afraid of him, and that also does REALLY WEIRD THINGS to Matt's head.

(There always come a time, a moment when Claire or Foggy or Karen get afraid of him. They never told him - maybe it only lasts for like five seconds - but he could smell it on them, maybe?)

OH BLESS I actually laughed out loud because OF COURSE Foggy has some kind of fucking spider-sense that alerts him whenever Matt is about to do something particularly stupid. It is not a useful mutant power.

the raptors like matt, a lot, because he is basically a raptor in a human body. matt touches the raptor and is suitably SHOCKED AND AWED.

He did, he totally did, Matt probably parkoured out of the sky to save Owen from some jackass with a gun (because Owen had the dinosaurs well in hand), and later on Matt met Owen sans mask and Owen probably looked him over and said "hey, thanks for keeping me from getting shot."

To which we have Matt's panicked "I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT" and Owen's "chill dude, you just move the same way. If you're really trying to keep it a secret maybe hunch your shoulders a little more when you're out of the costume."

UGH. Matt doesn't blame them for being scared, of course. Hell, he scares himself sometimes; he would be surprised if Claire's heart hadn't skipped a beat when he was holding a man over the edge of her building. And Foggy...fear has an acrid smell, sharp and bitter, and it mixes into Foggy's scent the first time Daredevil beats the shit out of someone in front of him. That's the reaction most people have to Daredevil, Matt is used to it, and maybe it hurts a little more when it's Foggy, but still.

Owen though, he's not afraid of Matt. Not even a little bit.

Matt's not sure what to do with that, to be honest.

Foggy's Matt-sense is not useful at ALL, mostly because it lets him know when to worry but does absolutely no good in stopping Matt from doing the stupid thing in the first place.

...FINE, OKAY, FINE, I AM NOT WRITING A LONG COHESIVE FIC BUT I WILL ATTEMPT TO PULL THESE SNIPPETS INTO SOMETHING VAGUELY RESEMBLING A FIC AND I'LL TALK ABOUT MATT AND THE RAPTORS THERE, ARE YOU HAPPY NOW
