Re: D/s verse - Foggy trains Matt

(Anonymous) 2015-06-30 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
"...okay," Foggy says. "We're gonna get food, right?"

(Matt is torn between WHUT? and OH NO he's dragging it out longer - because Matt just wants this to be over, right?)

and they go to some kind of private restaurant/whatever and Matt is accustomed to doms trying to order for him - and choking down whatever too-heavily-spiced weird fancy stuff they order (that aggravates all his senses) - but this one actually asks what he wants.

he has no idea what to do with that.

[Mini-fill] Re: Crack or serious, everyone is self-sacrificing and dumb

(Anonymous) 2015-06-30 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
So, this is a thing. I wrote it. Enjoy?

Wilson Fisk is laughing at him. A full-bodied laugh with tears in his eyes.

“What?” Matt asks dumbly.

“You’re not the first to visit me tonight, Daredevil,” Fisk finally manages after a minute.

“What?” Matt echoes. He feels like he missed a step and tumbled down two flights.

“A man by the name of Franklin Nelson came to me to bargain for the protection of his friends.”

Add another flight to that tumble.

“Fog-Uh, Franklin Nelson was here?”

Wilson keeps hiccupping chuckles.

“And a very pretty woman – Karen Page was her name, I believe.”

Matt’s pretty sure he just fell off a skyscraper.

“Karen?”

“Yes, Matthew, Karen Page came to bargain for her friend’s lives, as well.”

Matt brushes over the fact that Fisk knows his name – that ship set sail a long time ago.

“Why?”

Fisk clutches at his stomach as his laughter bubbles up again.

Matt leaves around the point Fisk starts pounding the desk he’s sitting at, howling with laughter.

~

“What the fuck, Foggy?!” Matt exclaims as he climbs through Foggy’s apartment window.

Karen and Foggy turn to Matt from their spot on the couch. Great, he can kill two birds with one stone.

“And Karen! Why would you guys go to Fisk?”

Now Karen’s giggling and if Matt could not hear someone laugh for the next week he would be the happiest man alive.

“What the fuck is going on here?!”

“Sorry,” Karen says through giggles. “I just cant – the horns – I can’t.”

Matt crosses his arms, juts his hip out and glares at the two. It doesn’t quite work with the mask on. Now Foggy is laughing.

“You guys!” Matt yells as he stomps his foot. “I’m supposed to be the superhero here!”

Foggy and Karen keep laughing and Matt starts towards them with the intention of kicking both of them.

~

Matthew Murdock springs up in bed, panting slightly.

That was the weirdest dream he’s ever had.

Thank you for the comment! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yep, bears are safer than Matthew Murdock at finding Franklin Nelson's food. :)

What what!? I am so happy about this prompt because I basically asked for something super similar:

Matt's Relationship with Catholicism and God

(Anonymous) 2015-06-30 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
The assumption seems to be that Matt has always been a devoted and faithful Catholic, even to the point of scrupulosity, but what it that wasn't always the case.

Give me Matt in the orphanage becoming disillusioned with God and Catholicism after Stick left, feeling bitter and in a lot of ways really hating God and feeling like God has never done anything but punish him, or like he's going to hell anyway so what's the point.

Then, give me the story of how the incident with the little girl and her father that led to him becoming Daredevil ended up with him back in the church confessing to Father Lantom and embracing religion again after meeting him, and how this adds to his moral struggle over what to do about Fisk.

+10,000 for Foggy being surprised by Matt's embracing of the Devil iconography and suddenly having a priest because he never really considered that Matt was that religious.

Re: Matt's Relationship with Catholicism and God

(Anonymous) 2015-06-30 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
He does say in the first episode that he hasn't taken confession for awhile, and that it's the church his father USED to go to.

This isn't all that implausible, given what we get in canon.

Re: [FILL] Reasonable Accommodation

(Anonymous) 2015-06-30 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
Aw yes. Beautiful. Autistic Matty hints. LOVELY FOGGY.

(And I'm not just saying I love this because I'm exactly the same. I literally jump when noises happen. I've nearly fallen out of chairs. My senses aren't quite superhuman, but they're up there.)

Matt and Foggy: Not Love at First Meeting

(Anonymous) 2015-06-30 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
So we saw that Matt and Foggy's first meeting in college seemed to go well. But, what if things fell apart for a while after that.

What if once they initially hung out that first night, they realized they didn't have a lot in common and it turned quickly into really hating each other.

Maybe Matt found Foggy a bit too social, loud and obnoxious? Foggy snored loudly, always wanted to go out and was distracting Matt from his studies, and Matt's such an introvert that he just wanted to be left alone? The "not treating him like glass" thing eventually gives way to finding Foggy way too blunt and without boundaries? And Matt just cannot take Foggy seriously as a person.

And maybe Foggy wanted to like Matt, but then realized that he was really pretentious - like he always had to have the nicest clothes, sheets, etc. and was really stuck up about food, didn't watch TV or movies, and was constantly telling Foggy to keep it down, be quieter, etc. in a very arrogant and know-it-all way? And that his plan to meet girls with Matt is derailed by the fact that Matt just cock-blocks him without even trying.

(For some reason in my head I'm envisioning the episode of Friends where Ross moves in with Joey and Chandler. lol)

And then eventually, something happens where they find a common ground and realize they can be friends or realize they were wrong about the other person and they end up the avocados we love. It just took more time than what we saw.

Matt/Any, Abuse Mistaken for Fighting

(Anonymous) 2015-06-30 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
Matt gets into a relationship with someone (Electra? Frank Castle?) who starts abusing him, but Foggy, Claire, Father Lantom et al. assume that his injuries are just the usual Daredevil ones. Those who don't know that he's Daredevil (Karen, Brett, Marci?) don't understand why they aren't more concerned.

Re: Fill: All Our Yesteryears [4,5/?]

(Anonymous) 2015-06-30 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
Im on both sides here, Matt can stay mad but Foggy can be mad too, i mean even if it was non related Daredevil things Hell's kitchen was/is a dangerous place and he is not Matt, he wont fight back, eh doesnt ahve super sense and figths in 5 fifferent ways, he cant defeat them, so what better than start from scratch in anotehr place? and if not like Foggy have been msierable the whole time, he enjoyed being away and now shit happened same for Matt but the otehr way around, Shit happened and now he has move on and so has Foggy and the thing is now that they are in the same place again, what can they do to have their frienship back?

Re: Matt's Relationship with Catholicism and God

(Anonymous) 2015-06-30 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
NA

Or or or what if Matt was feeling lost and angry after his dad died, and Stick swept in and tried to use Matt's anger at the Christian God to reel him into the ~mystical ninja religion~ (because I'm here for any fic about Stick's brainwashing). And then after Stick left, Matt had to give up on faith for a while because it had only ever fucked him over.

Until the devil started coming back out...

Matt/Daredevil as a Cover Story

(Anonymous) 2015-06-30 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Karen finds some incriminating piece of Daredevil paraphernalia at Matt's apartment. Matt tries to come up with a plausible excuse, but Foggy beats him to it: Matt has been dating Daredevil for a few months now.

At first, she's a little bit heartbroken...but then she starts to ship it. HARD. Matt has no idea what he's in for.

Oh God. I think my heart is about to explode from reading this.

[FILL]: I'll Be By Your Side (2/3)

(Anonymous) 2015-06-30 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
---Part 2---

Foggy wasn’t sure if he hated loving Landman & Zack, or if he loved hating Landman & Zack. Most days he felt like he was walking a tight rope between the two options, but that there was a constant wind blowing him in the direction of the latter.

Throughout the duration of his internship he had struggled with this internal battle of whether or not it was the right route for him and Matt. This kind of life… it was very attractive, especially to a young man who’d grown up in humble means, to say the least. The mere notion of riding an elevator to the top of a high-rise every day was something he had dreamt about as a teenager, to say nothing of glass doors with steel handles and conference tables you could surely slide across in record time, if you were wearing the right socks.

So the day Matt had blown a nice big hole in that dream was, in a word, bittersweet.

It wasn’t as if Matt had yanked Foggy out of a dream against his will; deep down, Foggy’s moral center had been nagging at him with the same thoughts all along. That he was too compassionate a person to hurt little people the way these lawyers could. That while the money was surely a draw, the real reason he picked law was because he cared deeply about stopping injustice in its tracks. He had just been caught up in the romance of his teenage dream. But if there was one thing, one person, who probably knew him better than he knew himself, it was Matt. They could read each other in a way few other pairs of humans could.

And in the moment, Matt’s noble speech about helping the little guys and abandoning the glass and steel to make a real difference seemed like one of those epic movie moments, with swelling strings beneath the dialogue, the music building to a climax as they left the high-rise that day, ready to change the world.

But it wasn’t. It was just reality.

He left that day, with no pomp or circumstance to speak of, said ‘seeya soon’ to Matt and headed back to his one-room apartment in a much less glamorous building in a far less posh side of town. He set down his bag, slid out of his jacket, loosened his tie, and stared out a dirty window at a shimmering skyline that seemed now like a world away. He had been so close. But did he really want that? He knew the answer was no. No, that wasn’t really what he wanted. But part of him wished it was.

It was shaping up to be one of the most painfully slow nights of Foggy’s life. The hours ticked by at a glacial pace, and he tried hard to keep busy… but the clock just refused to move. Naturally, all manner of terrifying thoughts are eager to invade the mind of an innocent on nights as still and silent as this one. It wasn’t long before Foggy ran out of distractions, and all he had left to do was lie awake in bed, stare at the ceiling, listen to the sounds of the city, and regret the decision he had made several hours earlier.

By 11 o’clock, he simply couldn’t handle it anymore. He tossed and turned in the dark and finally wound up grabbing the pillow from beneath his head, slamming it against his face, and growling furiously into the cool fabric of the pillowcase.

What had he done?

He smacked the pillow down on the other side of the mattress and ran his hands anxiously through his hair, then sat up and tossed aside the blankets.

For the most fleeting of moments, Foggy wondered why he so rarely had felt this kind of emptiness, this feeling of being lost and having no idea which way to turn or which road to take, back in law school. All things considered, those years were far more stressful than the internship that had followed… and after that fleeting moment, he felt like an idiot. He was an idiot. Because he knew the answer, and he had all along.

He reached into the darkness, feeling around on his bedside table until he found his cell phone and dialed.

On the seventh or eighth ring, Foggy sighed and knocked a fist against his own forehead, disillusioned. He was about to hang up, when a voice that sounded very much like it hadn’t been anywhere close to sleeping said, “I was wondering how much longer you’d be.”

Foggy grinned. “The hell is that supposed to mean?”

“Oh, come ON, man… I knew you weren’t completely over the moon about what we did today.”

Foggy laughed, then drawled sarcastically, “Who, me? Not happy? What on earth are you talking about...?”

Matt interrupted with a chuckle, “Stage 1: Unnecessary Sarcasm at the Expense of Best Friend’s Attempts to Help.”

Foggy sighed, unable to shake a smile. “I know, I’m sorry… it was a rough day.”

“Yeah. Yeah, it was… but we’ll figure all this out. I promise.”

“Matt, can you just…” Foggy hesitated, not entirely sure of what he wanted to ask.

“… can I what?”

“Can you come over here? Or, or,” Foggy stammered, realizing that even though it’s only a couple blocks between their apartments, it’s probably not entirely noble of him to ask his blind best friend to drop everything and come to him on a dark, gloomy night, “I could come to you… if you’re not busy or with anybody, that is… I just… I just really… God, what am I even saying…”

He trailed off, a little embarrassed, when he heard Matt laughing. He could tell he was grinning when he said, “Yeah. Yeah, I can come over. Gimme 20 or so?”

Feeling like a ton had been lifted off his shoulders, Foggy sighed, “Of course, take your time buddy… just… thank you, so much. I miss roommating,” he added with a laugh, to which he was glad to hear Matt reply, “You’re telling me.”

The conversation forged full steam ahead the second Foggy opened the door to let Matt inside the shoebox of an apartment, starting out as a mock rant from Foggy, going on and on about how he was crazy for letting Matt talk him into quitting every student’s dream firm. Matt, removing his glasses almost as soon as he had arrived and it was just the two of them, offered his casual, amused, painfully well-crafted and well-intentioned rebuttals. The first couple minutes of this banter happen over Foggy leading Matt to the couch, popping open two beers, passing one over to his former roommate and clinking it with his own while he settled on the couch beside him.

If the seconds were ticking by glacially earlier, they were zipping by at light speed now.

It was almost absurd how fluid and enduring their conversations were. Foggy was personally convinced that if he and Matt had lacked basic human needs such as food and sleep, they could very well talk forever. This felt particularly true now, as they poked fun at each other’s ideologies and idealized careers, reminisced about law school days and all the big dreams they had crafted for themselves, talked about family and friends and how the hell they would successfully start up let alone maintain their own practice…

They covered so many uncertainties about the future in their lengthy dialogue, but if there was one thing Foggy was absolutely certain of, it was that when Matt asked for the time and Foggy checked and reported 2:33 a.m., he wanted Matt to stay. More than anything in the world at that moment, Foggy just wanted Matt to stay.

“Jesus, seriously?” Matt laughed. “Guess I better get-”

“You don’t have to go,” Foggy said, before he could stop himself. “I mean…” he looked at Matt who, although his gaze landed somewhere around Foggy’s chin, looked as though he was listening intently, anticipating what Foggy might say, “we are unemployed, after all.”

Matt’s pensive stare was interrupted by very amused grin. “Huh… yep, guess we are,” he mused.

“How about you stay,” Foggy said, watching Matt’s smile grow as he spoke, “and we can just… talk, and talk, and talk until we conk right out, like we used to.”

They were both laughing now. “You don’t think we’re getting too old for that?” asked Matt, raising a skeptical eyebrow in jest.

Foggy waved a hand dismissively and gave a dramatic, “No waaaay. Nuh-uh. Not at all. Never, I say, never.”

“I’d actually… I’d actually really like that, Foggy,” Matt said.

Foggy stood up and squeezed Matt’s shoulder before heading to make up the bed.

After a characteristically short debate about Matt “definitely not taking the couch, you’re my guest!” and Foggy “definitely not giving me your bed!” they resolved to do it old school, like when Matt spent holidays with Foggy’s family. And even though they had each aged three years since the last time, and even though this bed was even smaller than the one in Foggy’s old bedroom at home, it felt right, climbing under the blankets side-by-side, switching off the light, talking softly in the darkness and soaking in the warmth of a much-needed companionship among all this newfound uncertainty.

When his eyelids began to fall and his responses changed from elaborate declarations to vaguely affirmative murmurs, Foggy was just conscious enough to feel Matt curl up next to him, moving just slightly closer, just enough for their arms to touch. Foggy’s lips curved into a sleepy smile.

“’Night, bud,” he said.

But Matt was already fast asleep by his side.

A!A: Author is (shamefully) basing Foggy's experience on their own, sort of. Foggy's been...he's definitely been miserable somewhere in the background of his daily life all those years. He's been miserable and felt guilty every time he thought about Matt or Karen, because he knows that he left them behind and that it was a shitty thing to do. But at the same time, he was far away, he was hurt and he was mildly depressed, and it was easy to slip into a sort of dissociation, a bubble of conviction that he could take all the time that he wanted and needed and things Back Home would remain the same, would wait for him to catch up. The daily life was enough to distract him so that he forgot about New York and his friends, but when he did remember, the guilt and shame would hit him and he would think about contacting them. Only the more time passed, the harder it was to do so and the less he had to tell them.

Objectively I know that this is an awful thing to do and to happen. But I also know how hard is to drag oneself out of that dissociation, and how hard you have to work to rebuild your connections.

And the most important question is: can they do anything to get their friendship back?

A!A: Marci... Marci IS mad at him. I'm glad that you picked up on that. Foggy will eventually find out the reason for this.

*angry-at-Foggy-anon*

I think I just tend to be much more judgmental of people who made conscious decisions that hurt their friends' feelings, than people whose friends were hurt as collateral?

Foggy underwent literal trauma and had every right to be furious about it, but... then Elena is on Foggy's conscience, Ulrich is on Karen's (and about a thousand people are already on Matt's). By the time Foggy stops returning Matt and Karen's calls my sympathy for his lingering anger is waning - call it making up for how angry Matt apparently isn't.

It's not a criticism on the fic at all, just a personal tendency to be overly vengeful, I suppose. :P

*smh at Foggy*What did you expect? did you really think they will wait for you?...
He was sad about leaving them, he knew what he had done but hey, all that time wasnt bad, he build a name for himself, he had a life in San Fran, he did things that he probably wouldnt ahve done with Matt but again everything went dowhill and one will think that the desicion he made all those years back was the wrong one, but you cant think like that. You make a choice and you own it no matter if it end up bitting you in the ass.
