ehehehe all aboard the express train to hell!

Personally I'd kill for a non-sexual take on a D/s verse (like, it's pretty much a world where people are D/s 24/7, right? But no one can do sexytimes 24/7). But Stick - who going back and forth on whether he's a sub or Dom or not - really fucked up Matt's perception on the world and made it seem like Doms were just wanted to sexually dominate you all the time.

So like, I dunno if Foggy would necessarily open with "blowjob" after just meeting Matt, lol, but everything else sounds perf. I'm picturing this as one of those "troubled youth" retreats that you see people get sent to on Dr. Phil haha

But yeah, he'd probably start off with little things, like feeding Matt or getting him to complete tasks (like cleaning), and making sure to praise him, etc, to establish a report, and getting him to fill out a form of what his limits are (which would probably be: none. So. Big red flag right there).

OP - I'm honoured to have brought you out of retirement with my silly prompt! lol

DA, but oh, anon! Non-sexual (or not only sexual) 24/7 D/s verses are my fave! So much caretaking! I picture dom!Foggy being very, very keen on words - like obviously he's keen on words anyway, but heavy on the verbal praises with or without the tactile ones - a lot of "Good boys" and "You make me so happy, thank you for eating the whole plate" and "You're doing great, Matty, I couldn't be more pleased."

Ahhhh...

oh yeah, i'm so sorry - see? - like, i meant it as "foggy picks up on the fact that matt expects it to be Sex all the time and is horrified," but i think i missed the mark there? oops?

imagine the sheer level of internal screaming first time he meets hannibal...

(Different anon here! I love me some jealous, pining Matt so I decided to write a fill as well. Here we go!)

Matt sat at his desk, listening to a read-over of one of the denser documents they had to look at for their case. He was particularly annoyed at the language of the document, legalese that at the end of the day, didn’t really mean much for their case.

To top it off, he could sense a now-familiar presence entering the building. The man smelled like coffee and dry-erase marker. He could hear the man’s heartbeat-a heart racing like a drumbeat in the excitement of a new relationship. Matt carefully schooled his expression and reached for one of the many stress balls that now occupied his bottom desk drawer. Foggy had continued buying them for him, and occasionally, filching them from the offices of particularly annoying courthouse officials, clients, or other lawyers.

Karen’s voice brightened as she greeted the man who walked through the door.

“Hi, David! Foggy went to run an errand at the courthouse. He should be back soon, though. Wanna sit?”

“Sure.”

David and Karen made small talk and Matt felt his grip on the stress ball tighten.

Foggy had been seeing David for a little over a month now, which was the longest anyone had lasted since Marci. They’d met at a local cafe and exchanged jokes about some movie Foggy liked but Matt had never gotten around to seeing. David had been a steady presence in Foggy’s life since then.

David was a professor at a local college and a Maryland native. (Matt may or may not have bribed/badgered Brett into doing a background check. Though in his defense, the last person Foggy dated had been married in three different states. At least.) Outside of classes, he could set his own schedule for the most part, which meant he could eat lunch with Foggy at least a few times each week.

David had never been anything but friendly to Matt. There hadn’t even been that moment of awkwardness of that people usually had regarding Matt’s blindness. Either Foggy had told him beforehand (which Foggy often didn't), or he was really good at being unflinchingiy polite.

From both Karen and Foggy’s reactions, Matt could only guess that in addition to being nice, David was probably handsome. Maybe even very handsome.

The spongy material of the stress ball contracted slightly in Matt’s grip. He found that squeezing the ball was a little bit better than grinding his teeth.

He heard David step toward his office and knock on the door frame very lightly.

Matt looked up and gave David a brief, closed-mouth smile, He paused the recording and moved his hand surreptitiously under the desk.

“Hi, David,” Matt greeted.

“Sorry, um” David began, “I won’t interrupt you for too long. Some friends and I are having a get together at my place this Friday night. They’re nerds, but they’re not too weird. You’re totally invited.” David turned. “You, too, Karen.”

“Thanks, I’ll see what I’m doing this Friday,” Matt said, trying not to sound too uninterested. Friday nights were usually one of the busiest for criminals. More people were out and about on Friday nights, which meant more victims for opportunistic predators.

Matt returned his focus back to his laptop, but David lingered in the doorway. Matt slowly lifted his head again and gave David what he hoped was an expectant and not annoyed expression.

“So um, Foggy’s birthday is coming up in a few weeks,” David began. “It wouldn’t be weird if I uh, did something, right?”

Matt could read between the lines. As far as he could tell, David and Foggy weren’t official quite yet, and he wanted to know if he would be overstepping some unstated boundary by planning for his birthday. A thousand scenarios raced through Matt’s mind, all of them romantic and all of them ending with David being even more of a permanent fixture in their lives.

The last thing that Matt wanted to do was give dating advice, but Foggy liked this guy so he mustered all of his social grace and continued smiling.

The stress ball was now trapped in an iron grip.

“No, not at all.” Matt said. He then thought for a moment. “Foggy likes Thai. You definitely shouldn’t plan a surprise like a trip to a rollercoaster or sky-diving trip.” Foggy had vowed never to date an extreme sport enthusiast after that incident.

“Did someone do that already? Dang, I should probably cancel the base jumping and the paragliding,” David joked.

Matt didn’t laugh.

A phone vibrated and Matt could vaguely sense David reach for his pocket. “Oh, Foggy’s downstairs. It was nice seeing you two. See you guys on Friday, maybe? Okay, bye!” David rushed to the door.

Matt tilted his head and listened to David’s footsteps retreat down the hallway. When he looked down, he realized that he had twisted the stress ball and ripped it into two separate pieces.

He let out small sigh and threw the wrecked material into the wastebin by his desk. He reached into the drawer and pulled out another stress ball.

He could practically feel the smug glee emanating in waves from Karen as he shut his bottom drawer a little more forcefully than usual.

“Shut up, Karen,” he warned.

“I didn’t say anything!” Karen snickered, tapping away at the computer on her desk. “You already know what I think.”

“Shut up, Karen.”

I've always liked the idea that while Thor is away in Asgard the Avengers have been trying with all their might to fold Daredevil into their operation but gave up after Matt flipped Steve off a building or something. And when Thor came back he was ignorant of the whole thing and met Matt while running through a park and offered to buy him froyo.

"Why froyo?"

"I've never tried it and I want to share it with someone. What flavor would you like?"

"...orange."

And Matt is slowly charmed out of his shell by Thor's natural sunniness and upbeat attitude and how he's never mean to anybody, and Thor finds out Matt is Daredevil he's 1000000% chilled out about it.

"Like my cousin Baldur. A fearsome warrior to be sure! Nasty mistletoe allergy though."

"I thought that killed him."

"Lies and slander! He is perfectly hale. I will introduce you to him when we go to Asgard."

"'When?'"

At one point Thor shows up with Daredevil hanging off his arm and the rest of the Avengers demand to know how they became friends and Thor is like "ummmmm I was nice to him and I ask for his permisson before I go running through Hell's Kitchen??? Because my mother didn't raise a little asshole????" At which point it becomes clear that if the Avengers had had some goddamn manners when they started bothering Matt he would have been more okay with them mucking about.

Thor is still the only Avenger Matt is comfortable with and he's actually looking forward to visiting Asgard now. Bonus points are won when Foggy amd Karen are just as impressed with Thor as Matt is because "he's not a complete dick like the others!"

“This is soft,” Matt suggested.

“No.”

“What about -” Matt began.

“No. I really wish your attractive-things radar worked on fabric so you’d stop picking things that look like Jackson Pollock on a bad day.”

“It’s not a radar, Foggy. I took my cues from their confidence and your reactions to them.”

Foggy turned to gape at him. “You are such an asshole! Why do I put up with you?”

Matt smirked. “Because you love me.”

Sighing, Foggy slung an arm around his shoulders to pull him close and kiss his cheek. “Dammit. Yes, yes I do.”

Twenty minutes later:

“How about -”

“For the love of god, Murdock, fuck no!”

Huffing, Matt threw his arms up in the air, narrowly missing hitting someone with the end of his cane in his exasperation. (Narrowly, because yes, he was distracted; missed, because he still had some semblance of control.) “Every single one you’ve been picking out feels horrible!” he complained.

To some extent, he knew he was simply being tetchy. It was just a curtain; it wasn’t that important. But they’d been here for nearly an hour already, and an hour of being trapped in a home furnishings store full of bickering couples, bored children, and squeaking trolleys was a recipe for frayed nerves.

“It’s a window covering! I don’t think you’re going to be feeling up the curtains every night!” Foggy retorted. “At most, you’ll brush right past them!”

“We never have anyone but Karen over anyway, so why does it matter how they look?” Matt demanded.

“Because I’ll have to look at it, and I don’t want to get home after twelve hours at work to a goddamn Spongebob Squarepants curtain lit up by that damn billboard like an unholy advertisement from Hell!”

Television obviously didn’t mean much to Matt, and he spent exactly no time around children unless he was rescuing one, but the reference was not lost on him; there was really no escaping the pervasiveness of the cartoon.

After a few seconds of trying to hold onto his temper, he gave up and collapsed into giggles, relieved when Foggy laughed with him. “All right, you have a point,” he admitted. “No Spongebob.”

“And no Jackson Pollock.”

“And no Jackson Pollock,” Matt agreed with an amused smile. Foggy’s hatred of Pollock was such that he’d once purchased a small, three-dimensional imitation of one of the artist’s pieces just so Matt could feel how chaotic and insensible the splashes of paint were.

Another infant’s shriek from across the floor pierced the air then, sharp enough to Matt’s sensitive hearing to make him reflexively cringe. Covering his ear with one hand, he gave Foggy a desperate look. “Foggy, I really, really don’t care at this point. Can’t we compromise on a nice solid that doesn’t feel scratchy and get out of here?”

Foggy groaned. “You vetoed all of the solids, except for the ones outside of our price range!”

“So we trim the budget somewhere else and splurge on this one,” Matt coaxed. “Come on, Foggy. Can we please just - just pick something and get out of here?”

Foggy peered around them before looking back at Matt and softening. “You’re dying, aren’t you?” he asked sympathetically, stepping closer to cover Matt’s ears with his own hands and pull him closer. “Idiot - tell me before it gets this bad.”

Matt made a noncommittal noise, feeling guilty about whinging. He couldn’t, however, resist the offer, and gladly buried his face against Foggy’s shoulder. He took the opportunity to focus on the dual perception of that well-loved heartbeat: the steady ba-dump… ba-dump… he could hear from his chest and the matching pulse he could feel in his neck.

Ba-dump… ba-dump…

It took a few minutes, but Matt finally felt grounded enough to lift his head. He couldn’t quite make his hands let go of Foggy’s waist yet, though. He knew they were probably making a scene, snuggling in the middle of the aisle, but judging by the steadiness of Foggy’s heart and the lack of heat in his skin, he wasn’t the least bit arsed about it.

“Hey,” Foggy greeted him in a quiet tone, kissing his temple gently. “How about we get out of here and just go to a fabric store tomorrow? We’ll pick out something simple and soft, and I’ll just sew one end to fit around a curtain rod. That sound good?”

“Since when do you sew?” Matt asked without thinking, too tired to immediately remember -

Foggy’s heart jumped, but his voice was light and steady as he said, “There’s a first time for everything.”

- shaking hands carefully weaving a needle and thread through bloodied skin -

“Don’t diss my mad skills before they have a chance to exist.”

- steadier hands, practiced hands, resecuring a torn stitch -

“I’m going to make the most boss curtains ever.”

Cursing silently, Matt slumped against Foggy again. “I’m sorry,” he mumbled against his neck. “I’m sorry you had to learn.”

Foggy gave a deep sigh. “I’m rolling my eyes at you,” he announced, hugging him tightly. “Seriously, no brooding. This is a happy occasion. I am happy to hem our very first curtain together, okay? I will hem the hell out of that curtain. It won’t know what hit it. It’ll be awe -”

“I love you,” Matt blurted out.

“- some. And I love you, too,” Foggy added, bumping his temple gently with his own like a happy housecat. “C’mon, buddy. Let’s go home.”

Home.

Wrapping his hands around Foggy’s elbow as they headed out, Matt leaned in close to his lover and smiled to himself. Foggy was happy and well, touching him, guiding him even knowing it was unnecessary, living with him, loving him.

Matt was already home.

But oh, nooooooooooooooooooooooo! C'MON, MATT, GO GET 'IM, FORREAL.

When you get the flu you're down for at least a week. The first few days you usually just lay on the couch half delirious and pray for the sweet mercy of death but then you get to that awkward stage where you're too sick to do anything but well enough to be bored and cranky.
How does Matt handle this? He barely accepts brain boiling temperatures and Brocken bones as a reason to take a night off, how does he feel about Claire or Foggy trying to keep him home with aches a low grade fever and a cough?
Basically just Matt getting over the flu and being a stoic ass.

To be fair, Matt never "ruined" any of the women he's dated. As Elektra herself pointed out, a person can only take responsibility for the deaths they cause with their own hand. Karen's fall into pornography and drugs happened well after her break-up with Matt, and had nothing to do with him (the last time he'd seen her, on an adventure with Ghost Rider, she'd been a successful actress). Black Widow, Elektra and Echo all maintain friendly relations with him. Heather Glenn (the woman who wanted to be a CEO) was a victim of bad writing and worse characterization. Milla Donovan is perhaps the one who comes closest, but even she chose to pursue him, break-up with him, and then return to him. She wasn't without agency. That's not to say Matt Murdock doesn't have issues with women, but that the issues he has are a lot more complicated than is generally shown in superhero comics.

I'm not sure why writers chose Daredevil to be the hero with the worst love-life. Honestly, I find it a bit strange. Maybe it is partly because of the abandonment issues he has with his mother. Maybe it's also to be Marvel's counter-point to DC's Batman. It's kind of sad because he's a hero that could be super-inspiring for kids if his comics weren't so hell-bent on being dark and edgy.

I love this. Hard to pick a favorite line but it might just be this one. Such a sweet image.

My HEART oh GOD is this a heart attack did my lung collapse I don't even know now I just OH MATT, this HURTS, baby... ;_; How, how, how do you WRITE like this? It's so - so beautiful, and so painful, and I think if I even tried to write a fraction of this much misery for Matt, I'd just cry and cry and cry...

SA (just very late, as it took me a while to get to the article and watch a YT trailer XD):

Ooh, that looks and sounds totally fun! The perspective is a little nauseating to me (I am weak and get motionsick in a heartbeat, so the parkouring is kind of @_@), but it looks like a lot of fun. :D POSSESSING RATS OMG. As a hack-and-slasher, trying to avoid killing people sounds hard... ;D But an interesting twist, and super A+++ on working in solid female characters! Thanks so much for the explanation - I'm definitely putting it on my maybe-list for future games! :D

After reading some of the wonderful Avengers prompts that have been on here already, I have to say I'm kind of enjoying portrayals where Matt doesn't quite play nice with them. Maybe it's because Daredevil is such a shift in tone from other Marvel movies or because I have a soft spot for him in particular, but I can see this prompt playing really well into a plot that examines the way some of the Avengers approach things, how Matt approaches things, and how Frank approaches things.

Because attacking Matt is certainly no good, that they can all agree on, but can you imagine a conversation between Punisher and Captain America? Or Punisher and Bruce/Hulk, who's so afraid of his own capacity for violence? Good stuff.

Meanwhile, Matt is no wilting flower either and is trying to get his own two (badass) feet back underneath him.
