Dude yes, that's exactly who I was talking about!

I've decided Matt needs more people in his life who care about him and can/will protect him physically when he needs it. But I also really like people with disabilities rolling together, having each other's back. The one person in DD I haven't seen requested here is Melvin Potter (aka The Gladiator). Matt went from hitting the guy, to getting his ass kicked, and finally choking Melvin into submission, only to suss that Melvin is, in Owlsley's words, 'half an idiot.'

What surprised me on the show was the speed that Matt goes to one knee next to Melvin when he understands who he's dealing with, he speaks to Melvin gently, kindly, honestly, trusting that Melvin wasn't going to reach out and continue throwing Matt around like a rag doll. And Melvin doesn't, Melvin is a SWEETHEART. Melvin creates a devilsuit for Matt to help protect him, and once Fisk is in jail I believe Matt will show his true face to Melvin (if he hasn't already - gotta get that hornhead mask fitted somehow) and they'll become friends.

So, please hopeful author anon, show me the 5 times Matt defends Melvin from the assholes of NYC who catcall him the R word or make fun of him in sad ways or try to trick him into doing awful things just because Melvin has an innocent heart and doesn't understand people. And then show me the one time Melvin and Matt are out in public and someone(s) is suddenly hurting/taking/tearing Matt Murdock apart (kidnapping/shooting/rape/whatev) and Melvin is scared and confused at first, but he's not having anybody hurt Matt, because Matt's nice to him, Matt's his friend.

+1000 if Foggy doesn't like Melvin at first because, yknow, he tried to kill DD that one time, but then changes his mind when Melvin saves Matt's life

Every time you post a part of this my heart gets broken and then put back together. I love this, it's amazing.

We have actually had a couple Melvin prompts on here before (you can find them on the delicious), but more Melvin is always good. :D I would love to see this filled.

Real talk: I wonder if Matt's enhanced senses make his body hair irritating to his skin?

Cap and Tony have no such excuse, though.

Somehow, Matt ends up spending a week in a cabin in the New England woods, and poor city boy Matt is completely at sea.

Nature is noisy and smelly and the lack of constant car sounds is kind of unnerving. The echoes in wide-open spaces are completely different and take getting used to. Moose in the woods sound like Jurassic Park. A skunk sprays right outside the cabin and he faints from the smell.

+10 for Matt being kind of a Disney princess who attracts wildlife because he's quiet and good at being still and being unsure how he feels about it

"Vices and trauma" is an excellent description. The town also puts out feelers and baits its traps. James is baited by the appearance of Maria, who resembles his wife - I can see Matt being baited in a similar way, even as he fights his way through the town and realizes that he's being pulled deeper and deeper into the trap. So someone who smells and sounds like his friends, even when he knows it isn't true. Or a young child character that the town forces him to protect (until the town rips the kid away and drives him even deeper into despair.) To spin off Silent Hill 3 a little bit, it would also be cool if the town gave him little hope spots. Your idea about his friends possibly being trapped is great, especially if it's something nerve wracking to an introvert like Matt. Ringing phones in random rooms - Matt picks them up only to hear Foggy or Karen on the other end, begging for help or giving him cryptic messages, anything that stresses him even more.

Silent Hill has very few constants, anything mind bending, weird, or disgusting would fit. Matt's personal fears also play a big part - he would fear being left alone and abandoned, he would also fear making a mistak and going after the wrong person. Like say he went up against a monster that screamed like a little kid everytime he hit it or when it vomited acid on him. Silent Hill could even conjour an old boxer's gym to fuck with him.

I love spitballing like this, thinking of new ways to break Matt is awesome. :D Silent Hill is purgatory on earth but if you can survive it and absorb the lessons of your own pain then chances are good you'll be a much better person at the end.

(Maybe the story ends after Matt has made it out - Foggy gets a phone call from a pay phone and it's Matt crying that he wants to come home. Weeks spent being brave inside the town and he breaks as soon as he hears Foggy's panicked "Matt! Where are you, are you okay?!")

This is an amazing tease - a tease because I WANT MORE. please?

...I'm not even that into the pairing, but wow do I want to see more top-drop in fandom, period. Seconding hard.

I feel like, with Cap's enhanced metabolism, maybe he has to wax every morning, just to maintain that baby-smooth pectoral valley.

Tony does it because his body hair gets caught in the tiny bits of the suit. V. painful.

Matt, tho... It might feel better to wax everything, in which case one must conclude that everything is waxed if you know what I'm sayin. From the redwood forests to the gulf stream waters, y'all. Then wouldn't the stupid grow-out stubble be infinitely more annoying at some point??

These are important questions.
