The art gallery made me laugh. Fisk, you absurd creeper.
SPOILERS:
Agh, I knew Ikari would be back. I have faith that Waid won't kill Kirsten, and I don't think any writer would be allowed to kill Foggy (or if they did, he would probably be resurrected), but I'm still so anxious for the next issue. Why does it have to be a month away!? Ongoing comics just kill me.
It's possible they didn't want to pay for licensing anything so that's why you never see them drinking brand name stuff except for a Pepsi, which was product placement.
Re: Which of your favorite pairings (if any) would you like to see become canon?
Matt and Foggy are PLATONIC soulmates in my brain, so I would prefer to not see them hook up.
Matt/Karen is inevitable and I am not looking forward to it. Charlie Cox has mentioned it, anyone who has read issue one of Daredevil knows about it, and even though Netflix Karen is way better than comics Karen ever was, I totally fucking hate her. She is emotional vampire who will drain the living shit out of Matt and then she will probably die.
...Sorry, I just have strong feelings about her. I mean, she really is terrible. She ruins Ben's life, Wesley's life, Fisk's MOTHERS's life, and stomps all over everyone else's plots because they're not important to her.
I would be pretty cool with a Foggy/Karen/Matt pairing though. Not a rivalry, a poly relationship. TV probably isn't ready for it, but the average New Yorker is, because all of my friends seem to be in one.
Re: Which of your favorite pairings (if any) would you like to see become canon?
I'm not saying it wasn't justified, but she already has some notches on her belt of "doing terrible things this season." I'll give her a pass on Wesley, but she got herself into that one, being all stupid about her own safety after being attacked about a bajillion times.
Yes, I'd really like feedback, too; praise, constructive criticism, anything.
But if you post your fic here on DW, it's anonymous, and all the replies are anonymous, too, so why would people be afraid to comment here? Or do you mean "constructive criticism" as opposed to just plain "good job" type feedback?
Or are you talking about fics posted elsewhere?
I do like the idea of a separate post. Anything to increase feedback! :-)
Re: Which of your favorite pairings (if any) would you like to see become canon?
Following that logic, Wesley's death was his own fault for being stupid enough to put that loaded gun on the table. And for working for a crime boss in the first place.
I never realised Fisk's interest in art was a canon thing (or if it wasn't, that the MCU had started bleeding into the comic's run a little). Definitely still a creeper though.
SPOILERS:
I'm still confused about Foggy's line about his oncologist. It's been bugging me since I read it. Does he mean that his cancer's terminal? Or that it's a worst case scenerio that he's hoping won't happen?
It's pain either way. Ongoing comics, man. A WHOLE MONTH.
I assumed that Waid wouldn't straight-out kill any major characters, but (and correct me if I'm wrong, I've not been closely following it) isn't Marvel basically restarting their universe in a couple of months anyway? Meaning it's theoretically possible (although *fingers crossed* it won't be) that anything can happen at this stage because as soon as volume 4 ends, it may all be different anyway?
Re: Which of your favorite pairings (if any) would you like to see become canon?
I just wonder how he amassed that collection. Did he hire a ton of different artists to paint all those? Just one artist? Or is there an already existing subculture of artists who paint pictures of Daredevil dying gruesomely? That last explanation is probably the least likely, but it's the one I like the best.
That line has been driving me crazy! My first thought was yeah, it's terminal, and based on Kirsten's face, I think that's how Waid wanted us to take it. But I also think it's intentionally misleading and that it will probably turn out to mean something else entirely.
Or maybe I just want it to mean something else, because Foggy. No. ;_;
Op-I meant constructive criticism and yeah, I was talking about fics elsewhere. A lot of people post edited/actual fills on AO3 and as far as I know you can't comment on anon there.
I'm emotionally devastated. Mostly because what is probably a reboot (despite their best attempts to don't call it so) of the 616 verse is coming and I wonder if they'd just kill off characters because of that. Generally this issue was very "WOW WTF" and congrats on your art collection Fisk, I wondered if it was something like that as soon as he said "hey lets take a stroll in my gallery my blind pal lololol". A+++
Also despite the fact that my heart is in pieces we got this page
I love the idea that Wilson Fisk - while known to everyone else as this all-powerful crime magnate - is known in the art community as that one insanely rich guy who always commissions artists to paint dead/dying Daredevil's. My favourite thing is that it's clearly a lot of art he has, and he's had to transport all that specifically from NY to San Franciso rather than like, put it in storage or something. A guy's gotta have hobbies, I guess.
Kirsten's face was the kicker. Also, the way Foggy says it, not meeting her eye. I just really want it not to be true (I mean, come on, surely if you've got Antman helping with your treatment, you have to have a better chance of survival than usual) or to be, like you said, deliberately misleading.
I mean, not that it'll really matter if Foggy's had his head kicked in, but, you know, it's good to know
I don't really understand how it's actually working (616 universe is colliding with all other universes, and we're getting a mash-up of all of them where some things will be mostly the same and others really different? Also DD has a black/red suit now??).
So long as they don't change too much (hey, they aren't even based in Hell's Kitchen any more), it should maybe be ok?
As opportunities go to be able to brutally kill off major characters, a universal reboot where they'll probably be alive again would be a temptation.
Fisk was probably smug as anything the whole time. Chortling under his breath. There's probably a panel we don't see where he asks Matt about what he thinks of the art and Matt just looks at him like 'you being serious bro'.
Argh, that panel is lovely. One of my favourite things about the Waid/Samnee run is how good they are at showing that Matt has people who genuinely care about him and love him, and how he loves them back and would do anything for them in return (evidence: THIS ISSUE).
Also, this panel broke me:

Because Matt knows what he's offering and what it'll cost him and it's so clear that he has these two people who are the most important people in the world to him, and he loves them both more than anything. For his sake as well as theirs, I really hope the finale isn't just several issues of 'watch as everything Matt loves is destroyed'. Wouldn't surprise me though.
