Omg thanks!!! This is actually really interesting to read haha. I might make Foggy do some googling just so I can include a bit of this info :'))) the way I'm writing definitely sounds more like the first one...thanks a lot, this is super helpful <3
I think episode 3 itself takes a while. It starts immediately after 2, but encompasses a murder from commission to mistrial, and Matt's face heals completely in the course of the episode. Realistically, it should be around 6 months (for a bare bones murder trial) but because this is TV, I'd hazard that it was a couple of weeks (for the cut and severe bruising to clear all the way up).
There are also a lot of comics fans that love the show and Charlie but REALLY hate that Matt ISN'T ginger. I haven't made him a redhead in any of my fic, but I've been sorely tempted. Some authors may view it as correcting a flaw in the show.
All of the non-language classes that Foggy is registering for in 2010 are 1st year law classes.
Columbia Law DOES have dorms: "The Law School housing available to students enrolled in the Graduate Program includes dormitory rooms, studio apartments, one- and two-bedroom apartments, and apartment shares (two or three students in each apartment). Most, but not all, of these units are furnished." - http://www.law.columbia.edu/llm_intro/grad_studies/Housing
And language classes are one of the few (possibly only? I'm not 100% on that) non-law-related classes that you can actually get law school credit for at Columbia. While it is incredibly improbable that both of our boys would be taking conversational language courses as first year law students, it is not impossible.
One thing they definitely got wrong though is Columbia Law does not award Latin honors (cum laude and summa cum laude). This is a longstanding MCU snafu, as they had Stark graduating MIT with Latin honors, and MIT doesn't do that either.
The arguable timeline here is 2010-2013 for law school (though that likely puts them several years older than the average student there - considering that Stick left Matt "20 years ago" at presumably no later than age 12) followed by a 1-2 year internship at L&Z, then on to their private practice in 2015.
Yeah. I see Matt as around 32. Blinded at 9. Had enough time to adapt really well and become very fluent with Braille before Jack was murdered, so I'm putting that at around 10. Had enough time to become scary proficient at martial arts with Stick, to the point that he's flipping all the hell over the place while sparring. Even with intensive, lifestyle-type training, I'd give that 2 years, so Stick leaves when he's 12ish, which the show tells us was 20 years ago, making Matt 32.
Thankfully, in Modern Age DD comics, feeling colors seems to have been dismissed as Silver Age wankery, along with such brilliant abilities as piloting/navigating airplanes and spacecraft by touch
I get the anon-thing. I LIKE the anon-thing, but I HATE trying to follow any story/conversation without the benefits of notifications! I have brain damage from a horseback-riding accident, and I have severe short term memory issues. I can never find anything that I'm looking for. Delicious is some sort of theoretical physics to me. I just want to beat my head against the wall (that helps with brain damage, right?)
Anyway. Y'all are awesome. This is my first kinkmeme. Whump is my jam.
You could maybe bookmark any conversations/stories you're interested in, and check them occasionally? And you can always ask here if you're looking for something in particular. <3
This was definitely what I was thinking. I'd even go so far as to argue that a lot of the time of the season passed in this episode- all the others are in very very very short time periods. Maybe a few weeks between some of the earlier episodes unless they're right after another but otherwise yeah, most of the season's time passed in this trial in my opinion.
(OP) :D I would have SO MANY BOOKMARKS! And mostly, I don't remember what I'm looking for (huge part of the problem). I just never realized how reliant I am on notifications.
I know, it's so frustrating. I imagine it must be worse for you, of course, but it pisses me off too. The worst think is, I'm sure you used to be able to get notifications. I'm sure I've done it on other kinkmemes by logging in to request notifications and then just making sire to re-anon when you post. Maybe that was only on Livejournal though, but I'm fairly sure I've done it here too.
I would love another poll more specific about countries because I'm actually curious and want to know if I'm the only person of my country actively partecipating in the kinkmeme XD
Guyssssssss what exactly does YKINMKATO stand for? I mean, I know it communicates the same idea as YKINMK (Your Kink Is Not My Kink, which did always seem like 'hmmm but that's not necessarily true/overthink' to me), but what exactly does it stand for? I'm not familiar with the acronym and I probably should have asked forever ago.
someone edited my fic on the shared ao3 account and i about had a heart attack, omg.
like, as far as i can tell the only things that have been changed are my scene dividers (I used two to indicate a switch in POV and they removed the second one in every instance of that, it looks okay so I'll probably leave it) and the fact that instead of a copy of the prompt, the beginning note now links directly to it (which... is also fine, I'll leave it), so it's not a big deal, but i am. a little bit weirded out. is that a thing we're doing now, editing each other's works?
