To me, his undeath has to be related to "the substance", that thing the Hand were mining from that hole that allowed them to escape death.

It isn't unreasonable to think that being crushed in a pit of that stuff might mean you could survive and dig your way out/be found later still breathing.

That's also a nice theory but it will mean that everyone that died under there will be back. They were surrounded by the stuff, unless they have to process the bones to get the oil.. Im sure the writetr will create some sort of loophole and they will ba back

Yeah, I think the dragon bones have to be processed through human blood, which is why all those zombified people were hooked up to tubes in that basement in Daredevil S2. (Maybe I am just desperately trying to tie loose plot threads together here)

I was thinking maybe when Elektra kissed Matt, she transferred over some of her immortality substance, vampire-style?

But nah, probably it's just 'cause she is the Black Sky = unexplained magical powers. "A black sky's never been activated before" says Stick - well, she must have activated.

When they're bringing Elektra back, the Hand mix a dark powder into the blood and they dump all of that into the container with Elektra. I'm assuming the dark powder is the dragon bones? But the showrunner said that Gao was using the bones in her heroin which is why it was so strong. I like knowing that but I wish they'd showed it. Someone said it was inferred at some point by the Hand but I missed it on the show.

Lol, if the dragon bones are so rare - and that's what Defenders established - then why was Gao wasting them like that? Not even to create an undead army, just to, idk, sell drugs.
