That's one of the things in the show I found confusing. If they met in 2010, that means they did undergrad and law school in 5 years (or they didn't meet as freshman, which is plausible). But both actors are >30, so I'm confused as to whether they're supposed to be playing 23-25 year olds. Also, why were they playing Train in 2010? Why? I think the date on the computer seems more like a fluke than canon.

Well, Matt said Stick left twenty years ago. When Stick left him, we know Matt was older than nine, so ten at the youngest. If he's thirty in 2015, that would put him at 25 in 2010.

Maybe Foggy and Matt got jobs after high school and went to college later? Foggy's family seems working class ("It's not every day a Nelson breaks from the ranks of hardware and cured meats.") and Matt's inheritance from his dad might not have been enough to put him through school.

Good point. I'm definitely willing to accept gap years as a solution. Probably would also solidify their friendship if they're older than all their classmates. (Still not willing to accept people listening to Train in 2010, but that's my problem.)

Also, while their language classes (and dorm living?) would seem to imply that they're undergrads, Foggy's class schedule is otherwise pure law school. If they're starting law school in Fall 2010, they'd be graduating in 2013, then doing their internship.

This. The show said they went to Columbia Law, which has dorm living for the entirely of their education. When they first met I assume they had both finished their undergrad and were now starting law school.
