Re: Forever (abc) crossover: immortality
(Anonymous) 2015-05-05 10:59 am (UTC)(link)When they die does their body just...idk dissolve and materialize again in the water or are they leaving a trail of bodies behind them or something?
Re: Forever (abc) crossover: immortality
(Anonymous) 2015-05-05 11:09 am (UTC)(link)I assure you the details of the show are not important to me (save for the fact the possibilities of naked parkour they provide lol)
(im mostly looking for immortal angst)
Yeah I didn't really explain it very well in the comment (very annoyed at myself lol) . Their body just disappears, along with their clothes and such. So it disappears from the site of death (once they die) and then the person reappears in the closest body of water.
Re: Forever (abc) crossover: immortality
(Anonymous) 2015-05-05 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)I just watched the pilot (not just because of that prompt...I had heard of it, before and the idea of Immortal Medical Examiner Horatio Hornblower was very appealing I just never got round to it but today I have a cold and am miserable and needed something that only needs a small amount of braincells) and god is this gloriously stupid, yet amazing and I'm always here for naked Ioan Gruffudd because plot.
Ehm...yeah apart from that aside: Yes immortal angst. Possibly with an aside of Matt finding out about Foggy and yelling 'So you totally would have told me your big secret I SEE'
Sometimes I'm a horrible human being.
Re: Forever (abc) crossover: immortality
(Anonymous) 2015-05-06 03:44 am (UTC)(link)"gloriously stupid, yet amazing" is the most accurate description of the show ive ever seen. I think the most amazing thing about the show for me is that, for a show about immortals, the show finds it very hard to keep a coherent timeline.
Honestly, of all the possibilities I've been thinking about immortal foggy the most (possibly because I love him) and I am absolutely in love with the whole 'who's lying to who NOW' possible confrontation because it makes Nelson vs. Murdock even worse (I didn't even know that was possible)
I'm supporting this horribleness. come join me in the appreciation of immortal angst.
fyi Im currently thinking of Matt freaking the hell out when Foggy 'dies' and disappears in front of him. (i wonder what that would look like to his senses)
Re: Forever (abc) crossover: immortality
(Anonymous) 2015-05-06 06:58 am (UTC)(link)I might have thought about all this far to much tonight when my cold from hell didn't let me sleep.
That and Foggy insisting that his immortality is after all not a choice, unlike punching criminals in back-alleys and Matt yelling that neither getting heightened senses nor learning to fight were and if he really expects him to chose to sit back and do nothing.
I am a horrible person and should probably go and pet a kitten now or something. Just to make sure I haven't yet lost my soul.
Re: Forever (abc) crossover: immortality
(Anonymous) 2015-05-06 07:29 am (UTC)(link)(maybe this intense flash of heat?? idk id have to actually DO some pseudo-science lol)
ohmygod yeah. Tho I wonder if the original argument would change any with Foggy's own HUGE secret (though it would fit in with the very specific 'i would have told you about something /like this/' if he considered his secret to be of a different nature (although the whole 'did i ever really know you? thing. ow)
I'm trying to think of old foggy might be/what time period he would have been born in and I cant for the life of me think of anything. (lmao careful self if u don't watch out ull find urself actually WRITING this)
Re: Forever (abc) crossover: immortality
(Anonymous) 2015-05-06 09:19 am (UTC)(link)It would all depend on whether
Mugglesordinary humans would sense magic in the first place because if they can't then Matt wouldn't either as he hasn't any additional magical-senses just very pronounced normal ones. If you go down the 'Muggles feel something odd when magic happens because...idk the air-flow changes and there's noises that ordinary ears can't pick up' then he would. And I'm just seriously considering the physics of two shows that don't really care about physics even outside the whole immortality/superpower thing...and I have always been crap at physics. Send help.
Oh it would hurt so much. By which I mean: OMG YES
(This is going to turn into a contest of who can stop themself from writing this longer because I have already thought about this as well. I can't imagine him being terribly old, like not much more than 200-300 years. But haven't really come much further)
Re: Forever (abc) crossover: immortality
(Anonymous) 2015-05-06 10:32 am (UTC)(link)I think maybe how, well how im working with it now that you bring that info to the table. is that Matt can sense the absolute LACK. Lack of space, lack of heat, everything. like the space that foggy's body had just becomes a... void I guess. creepy.
lmao Foggy yelling at Matt like "you think you're the first person to do something like this??? what if you die???" lmao Foggy's always had a soft spot for the passionate idealists and oh does he suffer.
(also unrelated thought; im now thinking of Foggy actually /being/ a butcher in his 'first life'. & I remember watching an old documentary on dangerous household and food practises in.. victorian times I think?? Butchers did some nasty stuff to try and sell off meat let me tell u. He'd be so grossed out )
(Yeah same. I also imagine that unlike Henry (show protag) he hasn't really died too often.) (re; age im thinking late 20s early 30s, enough that he can pass for a college student. my approach, i dont' want to change established canon too much (some things of course lol) except to recontextualise stuff)
Re: Forever (abc) crossover: immortality
(Anonymous) 2015-05-06 11:57 am (UTC)(link)Absolute nothing would probably totally freak out Matt (not that he wouldn't already be freaked out and desperate at this point) because even non-living things have something, like a smell or the way they reflect sound or whatever. Science.
He totally has. He's probably a magnet for idealists with self-destructive tendencies. And that's totally why he still kept his secret after he found out Matt's. Because talking about it would have meant talking about all the people he knew who got themselves killed into stupid and heroic ways and that still hurts.
(Totally. He probably comes from a long line of butchers which is why his mom wanted him to be one).
Same. I wonder where you'd actually have to go AU for because it wouldn't work with the show and apart from the once mentioned big family that showed up to his graduation there isn't much. Brad perhaps but he could also be the guy who knows the secret because of...whatever. Though Foggy probably didn't adopt random babies and if the story is just about immortal angst and Nelson vs. Murdock pt. 2 one could probably just ignore him.
Re: Forever (abc) crossover: immortality
(Anonymous) 2015-05-06 12:38 pm (UTC)(link)(Matt is so desperate he wishes he could smell his best friends dead corpse and wouldn't that be a weird thing to be feeling)
When Foggy finds out what a noble, self- sacrificing disaster Matt is he's just like 'why does this keep happening to me'
(because ur a precious noble disaster urself foggster. need i mention what U did for Elena?? Like attracts like.) (the show semi-emphasises the idea of ur first death being significant and ironic, mostly in the context of dying in vain trying to save someones life who still ends up dying themselves and im imagining the same for Fogs oh dear)
(oh GOD NO. Matt being like 'Im not afraid' trying to reassure Foggy and he's like 'You don't know what it's like to die buddy')
((ohmygod no; now im having this ridiculous thought imagining his 'big extended family' to be like... the result of a kid he accidentally had like 100 years ago and he was like to the mother 'im not abandoning you like a jerk' and ended up being like.. Uncle Foggy to this weird bunch of pseudo-kids love it.)) (we could probably easily reinterpret 'huge extended family' to friends and members of the community Foggy's connected too or helped out, etc.)
(Brad saving Foggy from numerous indecent exposure charges)
Re: Forever (abc) crossover: immortality
(Anonymous) 2015-05-06 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)Also: is this just me or does Henry make about as many immortality jokes as Hannibal Lector does cannibal-puns? Like every other sentence he says is something like 'I have more time than you' or something. It is glorious.
(Matt is so desperate he wishes he could smell his best friends dead corpse and wouldn't that be a weird thing to be feeling)
Hi Satan. We're already getting along so well.
(Yeah Foggy would be all like 'What happened with Elena is nothing like what you're doing, it's not like I knew that I'd be in danger if I went to her flat' and Matt be like 'dude you were so busy *~*caring*~* that you didn't notice a massive piece of glass in your side until you knew she was fine. At least I know when I'm hurt even though I usually ignore it.' And at this point they realize that they're both massively fucked up but they can somehow balance each other's fucked-up-ness out.
And then they fight crime).Foggy probably died trying to save a kid. Because that's exactly what he'd do. And that's why he can sort of see where Matt's coming from with his story about the little girl, except he also can't because look where it got him.
(Ohhh I love these ideas. All of them. And he has to take great care to stay away from family-photos because otherwise in 50 years time some kid will go 'weird...great-great uncle Franklin looks a lot like...that uncle nobody quite knows how exactly he's related to us).
(Brad is only so not-freaked out by Daredevil because his weirdness-meter is seriously malfunctioning since he fished that naked guy out of the Hudson that looked exactly like the guy he saw get shoot in a robbery but whose body mysteriously disappeared)
Re: Forever (abc) crossover: immortality
(Anonymous) 2015-05-07 02:46 am (UTC)(link)(oh there's plenty more where that angst came from. from what ive been told my angst headcanons can reach quite the level) (over 9000 even)
(when it comes to semi!self-indulgent angsty au's i am the champion. spreading the good word across the internet with the help of good people like you)
My fave thing about these actors is that I can actually imagine Cox emoting the '*~*caring*~*' punctuation PERFECTLY.
I'm wondering if Foggy pushed a kid out of the way of *time period appropriate transportation* as some sort of parallel to Matt or if that would even be appropriate narrative wise.
(either way Foggy wakes up in the river and is like 'I have no idea what happened but I need to get very drunk very quickly'
(in the comics Foggy has a half-sister named Candace and im also considering making his 'extended family' descendent from her. and then Foggy gets connected with them under the guise of doing family history and ... i mean this is Foggy, you can't resist becoming friends with him)
Except I can't continue with this line of thought because now im just thinking about like.. how would Foggy have explained what happened to his family, assuming he even WOULD have. How did he notice he wasn't aging???
Semi connected but beyond that what was Foggy's plan even going forward with Matt and 'Nelson and Murdock' like... he must have been like 'awesome matt is very unlikely to notice i never age' but like... that doesn't mean he can stay in the same place very long?? when was he going to move what would he going to tell matt???
(brad is the hero Hell's Kitchen deserves tbh.)
Re: Forever (abc) crossover: immortality
(Anonymous) 2015-05-07 10:18 am (UTC)(link)What are the odds that in a yelling match where Matt feels already betrayed and then also finds out that whole not-aging thing he just goes 'oh I must have been the ideal 'friend' then'
Idk...Foggy probably didn't think. He lived the first 100 years or so and then couldn't stand the whole seeing people die anymore and tried to become a hermit but then he missed EMOTIONS and HUMANS and went back to become a lawyer and he never meant to become so attached again but then this baby duckling flew in his room and he knows this can't last forever but he's ignoring all that for now because as long as he doesn't have any close and regular contact with seeing people some make up will fool them at least for some years and he will think about everything later.
(No idea on the family... Like the wife would have to know and then they had to fake stuff...)
Re: Forever (abc) crossover: immortality
(Anonymous) 2015-05-07 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)Ohmygod I'm in PAIN. I remember someone suggesting matt thinking over that 'i felt sorry for u' line in nelson vs. murdock and like.. oh god Matt would feel so horrible if he felt like he was just being used. lmao nice i don't need my heart.
Lmao give Foggy like five minutes of trying to be isolationy and he's just like 'lol nope im sick of this'. (honestly it would kind of make sense for him to be like 'ill think about that later' considering the whole show timeline is kind of foggy following matt's lead on things.
Foggy being great at make up is a blessing and everything I need right now. He's a contouring expert.
(ive also been thinking about matt getting immortality, like in the show time period. and like.. just how that would change his perception of things or.. idk. or like karen and revealing it to the avacados at law. its just.. so much to think about)
(by the way do u wanna... exchange like skype or email or some form of blogging platform. Brainstorming has been fun and I would love to continue it in an 'in person' kind of context)
