That's it.

Because, apparently, in the comics she became a nun after she left (due to postpartum depression/psychosis), and we see Jack talking on the phone to someone who is presumably her and asks her to take care of Matt, and next we see Matt after Jack's death he's at St. Mary's.

....so.

Also.. this is sort of canon. Matt's mother did abandon him because of post-partum depression and became a nun named Maggie, though she's clearly not the nun we saw. She lived in some church nearby and Matt would visit her as an adult, though he was never in an orphanage in the comics. Also: orphanages are not a thing anymore. There's foster care and group homes.

This is true, but also completely irrelevant. They are clearly a thing in MCU canon, at least in the recent past, just as the gentrification of Hell's Kitchen isn't.
