Foggy goes out if Mrs Cardenas' apartment into (for all he knows) a collapsing hallway to see if anybody needs help. He has no training, no powers, he's just a decent guy with a smidge of a hero complex. It later turns out that he was injured and just powering through the pain, and he is an /ordinary guy/ in a world full of superheroes.

Despite appearances, Foggy is the more vulnerable out of him and Matt, and the only reason he seems sensible to those who know about Daredevil is because Matt is incredibly stupid about his own personal safety.

Basically, I would like to read anything about Foggy being a Big Damn Hero despite his absolute lack of qualifications, and someone telling him off about it afterwards. Because seriously, at this rate they'll both end up dead much too soon.

I have this headcannon that when they meet, Foggy and Steve don't get on. And Steve can't work out why, Foggy likes everyone else, even Frank Castle (sometimes). Until someone (in my head bucky) takes Steve to one side and says that Steve is basically '4F - ing' Foggy all the time. And Steve splutters and says but Foggy is not a superhero and is a civillan and Steve just wants him to be safe. Bucky points out that Steve was actually a 90 astmatic and had a list of medical problems a mile long. All Bucky wanted was for him to be safe. But it didn't stop Steve getting cross if Bucky said he didn't want Steve to enlist...

'4F - ing'? As in the code on Steve's unenlistable form? I love this headcanon.

AYRT - yep, as in the code on the unenlistable form :-)

Aww I can see this happening. Steve is used to a top-down style of communication- he went from commanding troops in WWII to commanding the Avengers and leading SHIELD missions. Foggy would very quickly chafe at being firmly ordered to do stay out of the way, but Steve wouldn't mean it personally.

this is actually my headcanon though, that Foggy is all the time leaping into things and also starting shit and it's just because Matt's an even worse loose cannon that it seems like Foggy's the sensible one.

Like, the whole 'friction' that exists in Foggy and Brett's relationship as adults stems from this scenario exactly - that as kids, Foggy absolutely was the reckless shitstarter and Brett was just like "goddamnit no, you stupid - keep your head down for once"

It certainly follows the other MCU relationships like the whole Tony-Rhodey and Steve-Sam thing

Now I'm imagining Brett being very happy about Foggy meeting Matt because 'this guy seems sensible and he can certainly reign Foggy in' and if he ever finds out about Matt being DD there would be the whole legal issues that would suck but also 'damn. I expected the blind guy who backflips of buildings to be a positive influence on Foggy where reasonable behaviour is concerned'

lololol, ikr? well, to be fair Matt is the one to tell Foggy and Karen to be sensible and play things quietly because he wants them to be safe. he's just a blessed hypocrite because he backflips himself into danger all the time so of course Foggy's going to look like the sane, sensible, cautious one.
