“Hi! I'm Eragon Bromson. You must be my room mate?”

Murtagh wasn't sure what he was expecting from his first room mate, but it certainly hadn't been this. He thought that it was a little unfair, actually. The administration could have at least given him some warning. This is what he got for requesting one of the apartments.

But no, here he was, staring at the kid he was supposed to be dorming with for the foreseeable future. And his dog. His, what, seeing eye dog? Probably, given the kid's glasses. Murtagh could see a distorted reflection of himself in the blue lenses. At least, he considered, at least poodles don't shed.

And the kid, Eragon(what kind of name was that, anyways? Not like he could really throw stones, though) was still holding out his hand, grinning expectantly. His dog whuffled. Murtagh eyed it warily, as he got up, grasped the outstretched hand. “Murtagh Morzanson.”

And then, because his parents had obviously raised him in a barn (Ha! He should have been so lucky.), “You're blind.”

Eragon frowned, as if this was some sort of completely baseless accusation. Took off his glasses(good riddance, they were disconcerting. And, he noted absently, there was a fairly nice face hidden underneath them in a homely, corn-fed farm boy sort of way) and looked Murtagh straight in the eye. “Nah. Epileptic, actually. The glasses are for photosensitivity.” And then his face transformed, and he was grinning up at him again, like a goddamn puppy. Speaking of, “Saphira's my service dog!”

Murtagh nodded before returning to his bed. “Well, make yourself at home, I guess.” He picked up his book while making a vague gesture towards the opposite wall. “They've got one of those deaf- friendly blinking fire alarms, by the way. Might want to tape a hoodie over it or something.”

Eragon looked like he was trying not to laugh. “Right. Okay. Nice to meet you, too.” The 'asshole' was strongly implied.

“Mm.”

(not OP) omg I absolutely love both of the versions of this prompt!!! The Inheritance Cycle is my favourite book series and sassy!Shade Wesley and elf!Vanessa have completely made my day x
