Gen: Wesley and the Man in the Mask-Matthew Murdock?
(Anonymous) 2015-06-03 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)He saw where the man lived. The giant board would have anyone investing in curtains but his are blindless. Not to mention. His light is never on unless guests are over.
He had to be wrong. But who else can it be?

(Anonymous) 2015-06-03 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)Fill 1/?: Gen: Wesley and the Man in the Mask-Matthew Murdock?
(Anonymous) 2015-06-05 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)Murdock, the blind attorney who didn't trust him but had nonetheless done a fine job for their previous case. He looked over Murdock's medical records. He had severe retinal scarring to the point his eyes did not process any light. Murdock was as blind anyone could become without eye removal.
The lawyer certainly had personal motivation for turning vigilante. His father had been a victim of a hit. His childhood had been spent mostly an orphanage, save for a few years where he was under an unknown man's custody. Then again he had become a defense attorney and graduated from the top of his class at law school with his partner.
On paper he was odd due to circumstance but not unusual. Murdock sported a good deal of face injuries though. Almost after every night heir associates had met with the Man in the Mask. Blind people ran into things from his understanding. Wesley certainly did some mornings when he couldn't find his glasses.
Nonetheless, what if- what? What if nine year old Murdock created an elaborate comspiracy where he bribed doctors to collaborate on blindness? That's he spent the remaining years learning Braille for it? It was absurd.
Still, he did not get to where he was without a bit of paranoia. He believed Nelson and Murdock had an upcoming case against one of their associates and her partner. They could at least run a few test to confirm that his previous scenario, absurd as it was, did not have any merit.
In the mean time, Wealey was going to do some investigating on his own. Let's see where Mr. Murdock lived...

(Anonymous) 2015-06-07 02:43 am (UTC)(link)Fill 2/? Gen: Wesley and the Man in the Mask-Matthew Murdock?
(Anonymous) 2015-06-06 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)Wesley walked into the living room and noted a record player, no TV or obvious computer. A bookshelf contained books in Braille (hardcore porn for all he knew or treatise on international politics). He entered the bedroom. The bed was unmade but the same order could be seen in the room. He opened his dresser and closet. Everything was organized. There was one lamp on a dresser but, unlike the kitchen counter, the lamp was coated in a small layer of dust.
Wesley looked out the man's windows and blinked in surprise. A giant billboard greeted him and flash a series of colors at him in a series of passing adds. He quickly looked to the side of that windows: no blinds. Wesley sighed and explored the bathroom. Nothing off. He opened the shelves. A first aid kit.
Wesley was careful opening it. It was more well stocked than normal, including equipment for suturing. There were two possibilities. One being Murdock needed the equipment to treat wounds he received as the Man in the Mask. Second, and the most realistic, someone had tricked Murdock into buying more than a basic first aid kit. Wesley put the equipment back in the order he found it. The more he looked in it the more he was certain Murdock had been tricked. Thermometer, stethoscope, and even a shock blanket.
Wesley sighed and left the apartment. He went downstairs and got into his car. He looped up as the driver drove away. No snooping neighbors. Good.
He looked at his second candidate.
They would monitor Murdock in a few other ways. Until then they would explore other options as well. Wesley took one last look at Murdock's profile and tried to imagine the Man in the Mask. It was starting to become difficult to imagine it.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-07 07:38 am (UTC)(link)The woman before him was an attorney and well connected. Miranda Dominguez-Jimenez was a senior associate at one of the cities up and coming firms, just one of several fingers his employer had in the area of law. Her partner was not involved with them for plausible deniability if anything went astray.
The two of them were embroiled in a case against Nelson and Murdock. (Some small dispute involving unwanted sexual contact between employees.) The woman was accomplished and so far had proved a reliable resource for the association. She day across from Wesley looking impatient. Wesley feigned finishing business on his phone. In reality he was finishing a sudoku puzzle with carefully timed types.
After he finished the puzzle he put his phone away and smiled politely at the Dominguez-Jimenez. She sat up straighter and her expression turned neutral. She was an attractive woman but her face was not kind, a good feature for her line of work.
"How was the matter with Murdock?" Wesley asked.
"The man is blind, the reports are not wrong. I met with him in his office while his associates were out getting lunch. He had not expected me to come and drop off our discovery materials in person. I thought it was a good chance to test him in two areas.
"Our discovery material had to include a copy in Braille per the judge's order. I left the copy in my briefcase on purpose." She looked completely unmoved as she continued. "Due to the warm weather I had worn an outfit that purposely displayed my cleavage. He noticed the lack of Braille documents but was unfazed my any overt sexual posturing until I pressed my breast against him while handing him the Braille version of the discovery documents.
"The bastard laughed and said trying to move a blind man to purposely lose a case with such actions was stupid. He stated he would not report me to the judge if I left before his partner came. It was weird because he clearly was listening for me to leave but he just stared at me through his glasses. He'd tilt his head and had a fairly good idea where I was in the room. I've see him do it with witnesses in the courtroom."
"A familiar space most likely makes it possible for him to direct his 'gaze' at a subject." Wesley added. "He doesn't have the same reaction in the street nor coffee shops. There probably is too much ambient noise for him to focus. The man could see until he was nine and is aware how people like to have attention directed at them. I'm sure it's an action he's perfected over the years."- he smiled. "There is also something about a blind man staring at you when you know he cannot see you."
She flushed. "Yes, well we continued with the case. At court my client was going to lose. There was too much evidence against him despite Cal and my best efforts to twist that situation. We knew we were most likely going to lose" she gazed at him intently. "I am fully committed to the organization and with a losing case I felt certain professional sacrifices were permitted.
"I used a laser pointer to highlight several aspects of evidence until the judge stated I stopped due to Murdock's blindness. I shined the laser in his eyes when the judge addressed me. Nelson yelled at me to be more careful with it. Clearly he thought I was flustered and unaware I had pointed the laser directly at Murdock's eyes."
"What did Murdock due?"
"He didn't even move. He asked Nelson if the laser was pointed at him. Nelson said it was straight in his eyes. Murdock joked that it was good that he was blind. It earned him a de chuckles from the jury." Wesley nodded.
"I feigned believing me client completely, to the point that I was completely enraged at one of their witnesses. During recess I gesticulated wildly while talking to Cal. I through my phone at Murdock. It appeared accidental but the judge still fined me a few grand for contempt." She looked disgusted.
"Did the phone hit him?"
"Yes. He was talking to Nelson. It hit his temples and fell to the ground. It broke my favorite phone. I thought Nelson was going to attack me from the look he sent me. Murdock accepted my apology for 'accidentally' hitting him. He was more puzzles than angry.'
"Thank you. I think I have heard enough. We will of course replace your phone. What model was if?"
"There newest Blackberry."
'You'll find one delivered to your home this evening." She nodded and exited the car when it stopped next.
Wesley gazed out the window and thought over the derails. Murdock had a very good awareness of the space around him. It didn't mean anything in of itself but Wesley couldn't let the matter go.
He gazed at the most recent surveillance photographs of the man. Murdock's fists were red as if he frequently hit things with his bare fists.
Fill: 4/? Gen: Wesley and the Man in the Mask-Matthew Murdock?
(Anonymous) 2015-06-08 03:08 am (UTC)(link)The lawyer went around the puddle. Wesley followed, sipping his coffee and making note of how he moved. He was compensating on his left side. For what Wesley didn't know the cause, but suspected it had to do with the rumors that the Man in the Mask had taken a crowbar to the ribs.
It made Wesley feel like an idiot suspecting the blind man. His instincts were rarely wrong but he like a fool pursuing the man. His fists, his face, his familiarity with his surrounding all nagged at some corner of his mind. Yet everything made him feel like he was wasting time and resources.
Fisk had even commented on his fascination with Nelson and Murdock, especially the Murdock. If it was interfering with his position he knew it was becoming a problem. It was why he was following g Murdock on his own time. If he could prove even a tangible connection with Murdock and the Man in the Mask he would be rewarded.
If he could not...Wesley was not used to failure.
Wesley sped up his pace when Murdock turned a corner. He barely caught the man entering a building. Wesley passed it and pretended to tie his shoe outside of entrance. Fogwell's Gym, he read right away. Wesley stood up and looked inside. Murdock was touching his *wrapped* fists, testing the padding. He headed toward a punching bag and began to hit it with ease and confidence.
A patron saw him looking in and narrowed his eyes. Wesley smiled and shook his head. He left. He pulled at his hair when he turned the corner. Murdock was blind, 100% blind. It didn't mean anything when he hit the bag. He felt he was going insane.
That didn't stop him from bribing the janitor to let him stay at Fogwell's after he had turned off the lights. He sat in a corner and waited. He was on his phone until he heard the familiar click clack of Murdock's cane. He turned it off and waited.
Murdock entered. He did not turn on the lights. He felt for a bench and placed down his cane, glasses and gym bag. He paused, inclined his head and seemed to be listening for something. Wesley held his breath. After a moment he opened his bag and began to wrap his fists as before and moved to the punching bag.
He began to hit the bag as before. He was strong and if could see the man could deliver one hell of a punch. Wesley's phone vibrated and Murdock froze. The buzz was soft but Murdock seemed to hear it
"Is someone there?" Wesley held his breath. Murdock picked up his cane. "I heard your phone and your gasp. Who's there!" Wesley smiled and decided his ruse was up. He stood up and walked around Murdock. Murdock followed his progress with unnerving precision. "If you think I can't kick your ass-" Murdock growled, holding his cane like a bat. Wesley simply left.
He watched Murdock immediately grab his phone and call someone. He made sure to leave before whoever he called arrived.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-08 06:29 am (UTC)(link)Fill 5/? Gen: Wesley and the Man in the Mask-Matthew Murdock?
(Anonymous) 2015-06-09 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)The men he was up against were not part of the organization. It looked they were minor street thugs. Wesley watched the Man in the Masks's movements and was especially focused on his mask. The mask appeared to be completely eyeless. Of course the footage could simply be mistaken as it wasn't be best quality.
On the screen the Man in the Mask beat two of the miscreants unconscious. Behind him one of their associates came at him with a club. What happened next bad Wesley spitting out his whiskey. The Man in the Mask was not hit. No he spun around and kicked the club out of the other man's hands. However it wasn't that that had gotten him excited. No.
He rewound the video. There! The Man in the Mask cocked his head He wasn't looking for other enemies. He was *listening* for them. Shit. How had they missed that. Wesley was willing to bet everything he had that he would see the exact same thing in other videos.
He felt a surge of adrenaline. This was something. This was a clue. Yes. Men flew in the sky with magic hammers and had gained super strength from modern science. What was to say a blind man hadn't encountered something that permitted him to fight without his sight?
He had a long night reviewing footage ahead of him but he did not care. Murdock....he laughed. Even if he wasn't the Man in the Mask Wesley knew he knew who was
He shook his head. He was getting ahead of himself. First he had to make sure that he wasn't simply seeing ghosts. He changed and poured himself a large cup of coffee. He needed to focus.
