Matt/Foggy, Crime Lord Matt AU

(Anonymous) 2015-05-19 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
Instead of fighting crime Matt uses his special skills to read and manipulate people. He soon becomes one of the most dangerous crime lords there is. Foggy is the law student he falls in love with.

Bonus Foggy really isn't okay with the guy flirting with him being a mob boss
Double bonus Matt doesn't care and is willing to do just about anything to get and be with Foggy.

The first time they meet Foggy doesn't know who he is. After all, how would he? It's the night after his last final exam for the semester. Nights with very little sleep and very little food has left him exhausted, so it escapes his notice that the man talking to Brett in the corner has his arm wrapped around his shoulder, and that Brett is deathly pale. Instead, he gulps down the beer and chicken wings that he's been craving for a month, and joins in the celebration with his fellow classmates. The beer is weak, and the chicken is greasy, the people too loud, but all that adrenaline that his body has been running on cross-wires with his other senses and it's the greatest meal that hes ever had in his life.

When he leaves the bar, sated and a little bit inebriated, he crashes headfirst into the the man's chest. It takes a moment for his head to stop spinning, his grip clutching at the man's arm for balance. But when he does, he looks up at the most beautiful face he's ever seen. well, he's never been good at keeping his mouth shut, so the first thing that comes out of his mouth is "You're really good-looking," although it's more that he blubbers it out, rather than says it. But the man must understand it well enough because he's smiling.

"Had a good time?"

"Well, my g-good friend, I've just had the best food ev-ever."

"Really? You must tell me what you ordered. Because what I got was subpar."

"What'd, what'd, you get?"

"The fish and chips."

"AHA!" Foggy yells, pointing a finger up in the air like he's discovered the answer to world hunger. "That is where you went wrong. NEVER trust the fish!"

"Is that right?"

And Foggy can see his eyebrow raise behind his sunglasses (and really who wears sunglasses at night?) even if he can't really SEE them. He knows that it's there.

"Righty-o, daddy-o." Foggy giggles into the man's shoulder like he's just told a joke.

"Do you live around here?" the man asks, and Foggy feels very warm at the level of concern in the stranger's voice.

"I live...somewhere near here. I think."

"Well, I think it's best that you come with me for tonight. It's dangerous at night, especially in your state."

Foggy's suddenly aware of the black car that must have pulled up sometime during their conversation. He doesn't question it when a man clad in black with a large build opens the door for them. Nor does he remember his mom's advice not to get into any strange cars with people he doesn't know. Instead he sees a man with a steed, off to rescue someone innocent, or at least as innocent as an individual like Foggy can be. In all his drunken logic, he leans up pulling at the lapel's on the man's coat and presses a sloppy kiss on the other man's lips. He lets go and thanks the man, climbing into the back of the car with nary a care in the world.

The man follows him into the car, pressing the back of his hand to Foggy's back to help him in. The car ride to where-ever it was that they were going was long. With the lights passing through the window and the softness of the man's shoulder as his support, it wasn't difficult for Foggy to fall asleep.

And in another life, when he woke up life would go back to normal. He would embarrassingly apologize and leave the man's home, ready to move on in life, graduating with full honors, with a job from a huge law firm, never seeing the man again. But this is not that life.

When Foggy wakes up, he does so with his nose instead of his eyes. The smell of bacon and fresh coffee hit his nose, and if he weren't so hungover, he would appreciate it more. Instead, it leaves him queasy and he heads to the bathroom. It's only when he's splashed water on his face that he realizes that this is not his apartment.

For one thing, he doesn't have a private bathroom. He uses a shared bathroom with the other tenants on his floor. In addition, his place is not nearly as nice as this one. His apartment is a small room with barely enough space for his stuff. This place looked like it could fit everything he has with room for everything else that he left at his parent's house.

He looks his reflection, smoothing down the wrinkles left in his clothes and runs his fingers through his hair. He looks better than these past weeks, but still not as great as when he puts in the effort. Uncertain of whether to sneak out the fire escape or casually go through the front door, he compromises and decides to sneak out the front door.

The man who rescued him had his back turned to the stove,so it's not like he would be able to see him. Foggy makes it halfway to the door, when the man stops him.

"What, no goodbye?"

"Yeeahh...See the thing is I don't remember what happened last night, but if I know me, which I do, I probably embarrassed myself in some form. So I kinda wanted to head out before things got awkward."

"It's not awkward unless you make it awkward. Come. Sit. I've got food for you."

"Yeah, that ordering me like a dog is not helping things," said Foggy as he grabbed a chair.

The man chuckled before setting a plate of food down for him and- oh! blind- that sunglasses thing suddenly made a lot more sense to him.

"Here let me help you with that!" Foggy exclaims as he makes way to get the other stuff from him. The other man is quicker than Foggy is and grabbing the other plates out of his way.

"There's no need for that. You're my guest." He firmly, but not aggressively, pushes Foggy back into his seat. He's quite graceful putting everything in its place before seating himself across from Foggy.

"So you're feeling better?"

"Huh? Oh! Yeah. Much. Thanks so much for letting me crash at your place. Not a lot of people would have done that. Probably would've thought I was dangerous or something."

"Believe me; I don't think you're dangerous in the slightest. If anything I'm much more dangerous than you."

"Pff. Okay. I mean, no offense to you, but if you could see what I looked like, you'd see a lean, mean, fighting machine."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah. I mean, not really lean because I'm a law student and that means a sedentary lifestyle. But other than that, you'd better watch out because Foggy Nelson is wild."

"Foggy, huh?"

"Uh-huh. And what name do I call you by?"

"My friends call me Matt."

Matt, as Foggy finds out, is a businessman with a propensity of helping the poor. Or in his words:

"I help people who don't have many advantages in this world get jobs and find a new lease in life."

And if Matt's good looks didn't interest him, his caring personality definitely did. He was well-groomed, well-versed, and well, just plain nice. So when Matt asked him out on a formal date, it was a no-brainer for him to say yes. When Foggy leaves he does so with a huge grin on his face and a new number in his phone. Matt was even considerate enough to escort him to the taxi, and although he offered to pay, Foggy's pride wouldn't let him.

By the time he arrives home, he's out of enough money that he'll have to supplement his usual diet of ramen with the neighbor's tomatoes that she's been growing on top of the roof, which he would feel bad about, but will pay back when he's working at a big law firm. Which he will not be telling her about because he's not stupid and he's got more survival skills than a bleeding man who decided to swim in shark-infested waters.

He throws his keys into the bowl in his nearly-there-but-not-really kitchen and turns on his laptop to check his email. It takes a while for it to load, but when it does, a message telling him that he has three new messages greets his eyes. The first is from his mother wondering if he's been eating enough. The second is from another student who's snapped pictures of everyone at the bar. The third...Foggy paused, his mouse icon on top of the sender's name. The third was from a law firm (not his first choice, but still one of the tops ones on his list).

He clicks and when he reads what the message says, he's speechless. He has a job interview! The first person that pops into his mind to call is not his mom, but in fact Matt, and Foggy knows, he truly knows, that he is already in over his head.

The day of his interview, Foggy is dressed to the nines. Or at the very least sevens. The jacket that he wears is slightly big in the torso, but not overly so that he feels like he's playing dress-up in his dad's clothes. And the cake stain that was on his pants' left leg from his cousin's wedding was finally gone after a few more washes and vigorous scrubbing. As he waits for his name to be called, he thinks about calling Matt. They talked yesterday on the phone about the interview, his ears turning pink from remembering Matt's voice in his ear. It was smooth and low so that Foggy had to keep his full attention on the conversation.

When the phone call ended, it was done so before they could make any actual plans. Matt at one point was speaking to another person in the background and had to hurry off on account of business.

Foggy sighed, hoping that maybe they could talk soon before he gets his job-if he gets the job.

By the time his interview ends, he's left feeling exhausted. The woman who interviewed him had a steely look to her as if nothing about him escaped her eyes. She asked the same generic questions, but at the last minute of the meeting. Every other question was much more complex, more invasive, more everything.

His gaze is turned to the ground, his body slumped when he knocks into someone at the front entrance. He notices a nicely polished pair of shoes and a white cane before his gaze turns onto the face of one Matt Murdock.

"Hey! What are you doing here?"

"I wanted to surprise you. I was in the area and I thought, 'Foggy's in this area. I should surprise him. So...surprise!"

"This is a VERY good surprise, indeed."

"So, how'd your interview go?"

"Nhh, let's not talk about it ok?"

"That bad, huh?"

"It was alright. But if I never have an interview with that woman in a hundred years, it'll be too soon."

"How about we go to my place, and we order in? My treat."

"Why Mister Murdock, is this a date?" Foggy asked, batting his eyelashes in a teasing way although Matt couldn't see it.

"Yes, if you would like. But I promise to keep my intentions clean. Scout's honor."

"That's too bad. Because my intentions are anything but," said Foggy as he pulled Matt into the car with him. And if the partition rolled up, well, that only made things easier.

When they arrive back at Matt's place, they don't rush into the bedroom like Foggy expects. Instead they order sushi from a place way outside of Foggy's price range and watch Matt's dvd of Reservoir Dogs with the special features.

"This movie speaks to me. Literally and figuratively," jokes Matt. "It helps that Timothy Roth plays a great Mr.Orange. He does what he feels is right and moral. And he's so conflicted about his alliances and having to face guilt about the entire thing."

"How very Catholic of you. You know... for me, it was always Mr. White. I've always had a huge crush on Harvey Keitel since I watched this movie," Foggy admits to Matt.

"Really? I wouldn't think that. I mean, he plays the bad guy."

"Yeah. He's definitely a criminal in the movie. But he's loyal and caring. He might not always be doing the right thing, but I don't think that makes him a bad person you know. You get it right?"

"Yeah." Matt smiles. "I get it."

And Foggy's not sure what prompted Matt to move closer to him, but he's glad that he does. Matt's body is right next to his, forcing Matt to wrap his around Foggy's waist. It's warm against the fabric of his shirt, and warmer when Matt runs his hand back and forth.

The movie is hard to pay attention to as Matt is so close, his hand sliding like a habitual move, natural, like Foggy was a part of him. It's the scene where the cop gets tortured that Matt's fingers dip into the top of his trousers touching flesh. They remind Foggy of the waves at a beach, nipping at his skin.

Foggy turns his head towards Matt's leaning against the back of the couch lazily. Matt pushes forward slowly, like Foggy is going to change his mind, before pressing his lips against Foggy's softly. The kiss is relaxed like the kiss of a couple who's been together for years instead of a pair who've only met recently. It doesn't last long though before Foggy pushes forward wanting more. Matt understanding him, laps his tongue against the inside of Foggy's cheek, biting at his lips. He presses Foggy down so that he's laying down on the couch, using his agile hands to pull at Foggy's belt.

Matt's teeth is sharp and his mouth possessive, biting and sucking down on Foggy's chest until he reaches his penis, and there, he blows. Foggy's breath is taken away, gasping at each tug, his feet trying to find leverage on the other end of the couch.

And maybe it's sacrilegious, but all he can say is "Oh God! Oh God! Oh!!....," when he comes to the music of the Stealers Wheel.

It rains for a week after Foggy finds out. After a month or so of semi-seriously dating, he decides he wants to be exclusive. Because it's Matt.

Turns out though, he has no clue who that really is.

The day starts off like any other. Fruity Puff cereal in front of the morning news, "And today's forecast is sunny with a 15% chance of rain later on in the day," followed by a subway ride to work. He manages to make it there in time for the meeting to discuss a pro-bono case that eventually gets pushed onto Foggy's lap along with another associate.

"A Mrs. Cardenas and others are going against their landlord who have been trying to evict them," Foggy reports into his recorder. "We should look up tenant rights laws, harassment, noise pollution, and illegal zoning."

"Why the harassment? The landlord's only talking to them," asks Richard.

"Everyday he brings in more and more construction crew to "fix" things, forcibly letting them into the apartments of tenants.Doing so while they're eating, where they have to work, or take care of family, where they can be scrutinized. Also, I've seen that place, there's no way he can afford legitimate crew. We are going to supeona him so hard that his entire family can feel it."

"That's really good. Hey, when did you see it? Don't you live on the other side of the city?"

"I have a friend who lives nearby." Foggy failed to mention that that friend was Matt. Maybe he could ask to stay over, to watch the building and what the landlord did. Yup, no ulterior motive here.
