It happened so often in my old fandom that the kink meme eventually died. There was a big divide between fillers who took the prompts as "inspiration, so be greatful for what you get" and "a gift for a prompter who's given me a chance to write, thank you". The mods did rule that prompters shouldn't need a laundry lists of things they don't want in their fic, cos that'd be ridiculous, but they also instigated a "don't like, don't read, scroll on by" rule which meant when someone filled their fill with something they didn't like, if they said anything they'd be the ones treated like an ass.

I had two prompts hijacked, one with a crossover I had no interest on and one with a squick I didn't even think of listing because i never imagined it would have come up.

Someone on this meme literally copied and pasted my prompt into their prompt, and then added a couple things to make it for different characters, and now someone is filling their prompt. I was so mad.

But isn't that better than them using your prompt to talk about the characters they want?

No, they're both two equally annoying - but separate - scenarios.

Write your own goddamn prompt with your own words. Don't steal someone else's.

I recently discovered it happened to one of my prompts too.. and theirs got responses because of the diff. pairing the op asked for... I couldn't even get mad just.. duh. DB
