Has anyone non-catholic ever been inside a catholic church or attended a catholic mass? what were your first impressions of the space, etc. was there anything that jumped out at you as being curious and/or weird?
Would you like to see any of the daredevil characters in other comics?
Crossovers are my favourite things ever, so I was just wondering, what sort of crossovers would folks be interested in the hypothetical universe where all is possible?
This doesn't have to just be Marvel and DC (although I'd pay to see Matt and John Constantine together) - I for one would love to see Karen and Claire as members of the Rat Queens (Foggy as Orc Dave!) or Matt as Hellboy just for the giggles.
Are you looking for non-Christian or non-Catholic? Because I could help with the former. (And lol Protestants can have more dumb stereotypes about Catholics than anybody else.)
I feel like I've seen scenes in movies or something where people don't know what to DO during a Catholic mass- like sitting down, standing up, and genuflecting, and things like that. Though these times are directed and there's a little pamphlet, but people who have never gone before may feel like they are just standing there awkwardly.
Okay. So. I'm planning on including a scene in my fic where Karen confesses to murdering Wesley to Foggy.
And... I'd kind of like for Foggy's brain to try to gloss over the shock of hearing that a friend has just murdered someone and kind of revery to Defence Law mode.
My question is, for anyone familiar with this type of law, is there specific classes defence lawyers receive in school that train them for how to deal with this kind of thing? Like: how to act professional in the face of your client disclosing really awful things to you? y/n?
Re: Would you like to see any of the daredevil characters in other comics?
I don't read a lot of comics, but one of my favorite TV shows of all time is Justice League/Justice League unlimited. I love the interpretations of the DC characters on that show.
Like I would love to see the Daredevil crew interacting with the animated Justice League crew. Superman would be used to all the brooding due to his friendship with Batman, probably, so he would just kind of take Daredevil's personality in stride and be pretty darn friendly. Superman would introduce Foggy to Jimmy Olsen- but they wouldn't really be able to relate in their experiences with their super-powered best friends. Superman can only get hurt by kryptonite or magic. Daredevil is incredibly vulnerable to being injured by baddies.
Hawkgirl and Daredevil might flirt since Hawkgirl is a snarky badass with a troubled past (seems like Matt's type). (Though I prefer Green Lantern/Hawkgirl and Matt/Foggy.) hawkgirl and DD would at least get along really well. DD would probably have most rapport with Hawkgirl and the Flash.
Batman and Daredevil could probably relate having to take care of a corrupt city- though DD has to do it without the money and fancy gear so there might be some rivalry and competition there.
Martian Manhunter, and any other psychic character in Justice League would be completely thrown off trying to read Matt's mind. J'onn would be like "Wow, you feel things very intensely and I respect that." But be kind of baffled trying to make sense of Matt's perception of things. Matt would be like "Wtf, stop reading my mind." Foggy would be like "woah, doesn't it feel like AN INVASION OF PRIVACY?"
The main characters of the Justice League would really like Foggy and Karen. I can imagine Foggy saying something that actually makes Batman smile ever so slightly and everyone being like "HOLY SHIT IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD." The Flash would love having someone who is as optimistic as Foggy and actually laughs at his jokes when Hawkgirl and Green Lantern only roll their eyes. He'd straight up try to steal Foggy and try to bribe him into staying in Central City by showing him their softball league, taking him to the best food places, and showing him the public defender's office at the Court House.
Karen would probably get along really well with Hawkgirl and maybe even Green Lantern. She would investigate things with The Question and maybe even indulge him in some of his conspiracy theories because hey, there was a huge conspiracy in Hell's Kitchen, what's to say that there aren't a lot more out there?
At the same time, I think that the core members of the Justice League would underestimate and shelter Foggy and Karen in a way that Matt or even the Avengers never would. There's more characters with universe-breaking powers on the main Justice League team then there are on the Avengers team. If there were a real conspiracy afoot, the Justice League team would do everything to keep Karen and Foggy from sticking their noses in it and that would definitely cause resentment on Karen and Foggy's part.
If something happened to Daredevil on a mission, they would only share information on a need to know basis and deem that Foggy didn't need to know. Foggy would immediately blow up at them.
Someone prompted this in post #5 I think, but I did read Spidergwen this weekend and would also love to see MCU!Daredevil interact with her character. Her universe's Matt Murdock works for Fisk and pretty openly murders people. I would love to see her react to seeing a good Matt Murdock who refuses to kill opening up a firm to help the little guy with his best friend Foggy Nelson (who is the Distract Attorney and on oppposite sides of Matt Murdock in SpiderGwen's universe).

Also, Fables would be an awesome crossover. Daredevil and Bigby could relate on having to deal with enhanced senses in a place as crazy and as busy as New York City.
Ohhh how do you find Death in the City of Light? I like reading about true crime but sometimes get annoyed because so much books are written in a really sensational 'look how horrible this is'-style.
Once upon a time, it was common practice to tightly wrap someone's chest to "stabilize" rib fractures. This fell out of fashion well over a decade ago because it could lead to a number of serious complications including collapsed lung, pneumonia, and tissue death.
The ways wrapping contributes to further injury are two-fold: a wrap can actually push rib fragments into the chest cavity, causing trauma to the lungs or other structures, and the wrap constricts breathing. When you don't take full breaths, mucous and moisture can build up in the unused lung tissue leading to pneumonia and/or tissue death. Uncomplicated, "simple" rib fractures are treated with ice, pain meds, and limited activity. Complicated, or displaced rib fractures generally require surgery to repair the rib with internal fixation (pinning or plating).
If anyone has any questions about emergency medical care, I've worked for 20 years in veterinary medicine, mostly in specialty practice/emergency and critical care, which is very similar to its human counterpart. I've treated injuries as diverse as gunshot/knife/arrow/machete/spear wounds, venomous snake bites, other animal bites, massive multiple trauma (hit by car, long falls, etc - even a hit by train), burns of varying degree and cover, smoke inhalation, toxic ingestion, drug OD, electric shock, drowning... almost any sort of emergency you could think of.
I am also certified in human CPR, first aid, & wilderness first aid, with additional training specific to natural disasters and similar large-scale emergencies.
Re: PSA: Wound care - Also can do some medical Q&A
I've gone through the criminal law course offerings, and didn't see a course that seems to specifically address dealing with this sort of thing. Further research seems to indicate that lack of specific training in this area may be a problem with the profession.

"This course will examine the basic rules that govern the conduct of lawyers with respect to their clients, third parties and the courts, using as a guide case law, ethics opinions, the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct and, in some cases, the New York Rules of Professional Conduct. The emphasis will be on practical, real world application of the rules. Among the topics that will be covered are the formation and termination of the attorney-client relationship, conflicts of interest, client confidentiality, attorney-client privilege, special issues relating to corporate clients, multijurisdictional and unauthorized practice, and legal malpractice and discipline."
Does anyone know if removing a SIM card from a phone will get rid of the ability to track the phone, using a "find my mobile" app or something similar?
Would photos still be accessible to look at if there was no sim card in the phone? (specifically a Samsung phone).
Is Anyone Entering the Minor Character Fic Challenge?
Just wondering... there hasn't seemed to be a lot of interest or entries yet, but I'm also thinking that a lot of people may have it in the back of their mind or low on their priority list until closer to the deadline in a couple weeks. I'm not sure which one it is. I've never run a challenge before to know if a lot of people usually enter as the deadline approaches.
Is anyone still planning on entering, or is it looking kinda DOA?
They're either really big and ornate and have acoustics that could blow your tits right off, or they're weird, dimly lit basements with a grotesque bleeding Jesus statue.
Also if you don't supervise your children during a funeral, they're gonna get into something they shouldn't, and that something is probably the baptismal font.
I went to my Grandad's requiem mass, I'm neither Catholic or religious at all. Things that seemed odd to me was the incense being waved around and the fact that everyone else seemed to know exactly what to do, kneeling, saying things in response to the priest, like the whole thing was rehearsed and I'd missed the practices.
