I've been involved in several kink memes and this one is hands down my favorite. (Incidentally, the worst/meanest one was the Sherlock Kink Meme, sorry Sherlock fandom, and I wasn't even really involved in it. The worst one that I was heavily involved in was the Glee Angst Meme.)
Everyone here is lovely and kind and beautiful and fantastic and I'm so thrilled that this is what the Daredevil kink meme is like, especially the parts where people have giant conversations about prompts before they ever get filled.
GUYS. I'm having confusion. Most people call Daredevil law school era 'college era', but when they write the actual fics they're obviously entirely aware that Matt and Foggy are in law school, and even I can tell that when a prompt says college era they generally mean law school era.
So...why do you think this happened? Is it just shorthand? Was there confusion? I DON'T KNOW WHY I CARE ABOUT THIS BUT I DO.
(also btw i am not bitching about this, i'm just wondering about it. i have nothing against clawlegge era, though i do think that it should be now called clawlegge era bc i think i'm funny.)
Also this might not make sense, so...I'm really sorry. It's late and I did a lot of exercise today.
well i mean idk about american fans but im australian and law schools are generally not separate entities from universities/colleges. All of my friends doing law just went straight into a bachelor of law in their university of choice.
(im not exactly sure how america does it but you guys do a generalised degree before applying for law school right??)
so at least for me that's why I call it college era. I think it also caught on because college era is a lot easier/less awkward to say than like.. law school era. it takes up less space on headers too. also I think it comes partially from that scene where we find out Matt can speak spanish and foggy's like 'thats college for you'. A lot of people connected that to the flashback scenes in episode 10 I think because they sort of follow the same theme if not timeline.
hey guys I was just thinking 'man i want to watch daredevil again' and I was like 'hey why don't i do it WITH OTHER PEOPLE????'
I just wanted to make this post and see if anyone else would be interested in some form of group livewatch. Everyone turns on their netflix, we gather round the chatroom and enjoy the company of others while we admire high quality drama and a glorious tush.
Yeah would anyone else be interested in this? because I would totally be interested
Yeah I'm same as anon above - I'm from the UK and here if you wanna study law you just take that course in whatever uni, rather than one specifically for law :)
op; lmao same. watching in a group is so good and I can't imagine how fun it would be to do it with this group.
I did a watch of the 2003 DD movie a while ago and where i wouldn't have been able to handle that atrocity alone it was so much better with other people
Ahh I still haven't seen that...don't quite know if I have the stamina...
But yeah I think this is a great idea :D I've never watched stuff in a massive group before, although I did with a group of friends on tumblr (like 10 ppl) and it's always fun heh <3
and, like, FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, you major in - whatever, justice or legal aid or english or whatever, in your first four years of college, and that's your bachelor's degree, AND THEN you go on to law school, which is your postgraduate education & makes you a lawyer, as long as you pass all the tests.
depending on where you're from/where you went, i've heard "all post-high school years" described as "college," OR everything up to your bachelor's is college, and everything after that is your post-grad. which adds to the confusion, because: did matt & foggy meet in law school in their early twenties? did they meet in college, as teeny babies?
HOW OLD ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO BE, anyways, i've been guessing late twenties-early-thirties but. hm. ok, bachelor's by 22/23-ish if they're motivated and on schedule, three years of law school, internships @ actual law firm, practicing law independently for "about seven hours" in the pilot: check my fake math, kinkmeme.
did they ever give any indication of how long the internship was? LIke it could have been a summer internship, or something they did parallel to their law degree (idk that's a thing we do in australia sometimes idk about usa)
(i knwo the actors are often older than characters but for reference Cox is 32 and Elden is 37)
so bachelors is done by 22 and they're 25 by the time they finish law school. Lets assume the internship was short term, summer internship to a year maybe? Factor in a couple of months of misc. things in between (looking at offices, part time work, etc etc)
I mean I would comfortably say they're 27 at least? Pushing into early 30's if the internship went longer or there were gap years involved.
Um does anyone have any advice for someone who wants to start reading the daredevil comics?? I've seen stuff about it before but I just find it so confusing >_< like, firstly which ones would you recommend I start off with?? And secondly...is there any way I can cheaply get my hands on them? Like digital copies or whatever?
someone upthread recommended starting with Mark Waid's run, aka Volume 3, which was an excellent starting point for me. It doesn't assume any previous knowledge and repeatedly explains how Matt's powers work, and is generally an absolute delight.
If you want them really, really cheap *cough* go here: hcward.tumblr.com/post/118343806827 (and google comicrack for a good, free programme to read them on.)
