Fuck. Sorry anon, I'm the idiot that did the edit. I am very bad at social boundaries sometimes (most times?) and most things I think are helpful turn out to be opposite of helpful.. Um...I'm masochistic, apparently, and I want to maybe look at some big bangs so that I can work on some of the fic ideas I have if they fit and not feel bad about it, but I'm having a hard time finding any open big bangs (I've definitely looked at bigbangindex).

What's a big bang fic?
Oh, it's a fun challenge that people do in fandoms where you're challenged to write some kind of fic, but it has to be a certain amount of words--generally, the required word count is either 10,000+ or 15,000+ (so, longer fics) and then you're matched with an artist who does some kind of art of your story. It's really neat!

I haven't found any either :( I'm annoyed with myself cos I signed up for a big bang with another fandom and now I've kinda lost interest cos of this dumb show haha and I don't really have time to write a long fic for daredevil :/ I might have another look when I get home later though...
I love big bangs. ;_; I've done ones for Inception (I did two for one round, it was pretty impressive for a sixteen year old, tbh) and for The Social Network and for Pacific Rim and for Marvel (I did the MCU Avengers). They're funnnnnn

Which of your favorite pairings (if any) would you like to see become canon?

That's most of the fun for me, exploring relationships in ways that I would never see in canon. If a pairing shows up in canon after I start seriously shipping it I might feel uncomfortable and vaguely pandered to. Often I end up dropping the pairing.
Daredevil examples:
Matt/Foggy - this is my primary pairing and the one I never want to see in canon. Hookup maybe, but not in an OTP way. Matt is already so socially isolated that becoming more involved with his best friend is a recipe for disaster all around, and not in the fun way. Also this would break the long and glorious cycle of all Matt's girlfriends being terrible for him and I just ... can't deny him that grinder. I've been a comics fan for too long.
Matt/Fisk/Vanessa - this is really about Matt and Vanessa, but Fisk and Vanessa come as a set so Fisk is there by default. Matt wants to rescue Vanessa, Vanessa finds Matt cute and naive. Would never happen since threesome.
Matt/Karen/Foggy - I wouldn't mind seeing this! But again, threesome.
Karen/Foggy - ok? I expect to see this on the show so not that interested, but I get the potential.
Matt/martyrdom - not really a pairing but this is the true OTP! Not the prideful self destructive kind, although Matt does have some of that in him, but the real kind. Where you fight a war that's already lost before you even started. Where all the consequences of your choices fall on you like a ton of bricks. Where you devote yourself to an ideal and for that choice you pay. and pay. and pay.
What's the feeling among you, nonnies? Do you want your pairings to become canon? Do you think fan favorite couples influence showrunners? Should they?

On the other hand, I think Matt/Frank Castle would make even more dudebro heads explode, so that is the ship I want most to be canon.

In this case, it’s a man who was blinded at the age of nine and so has grown up with nine years of sight and is now 28 or 29—twenty years of being physically blind.”

Eh, I wouldn't consider that canon since I think he is just roughly estimating, not going on anything the showrunners told him.
Matt being 28 actually conflicts with canon, since he said Stick had been gone for twenty years, and we know he at least nine when he met Stick. He could be 29, but only if he learned braille and did all his training with Stick in less than one year, which seems unlikely.

OP - I actually picture Matt as being 30+ exactly because of the reasons you stated. I just wanted to post this here because, for some bizarre reason, I've seen Matt written as being anywhere from as young as twenty four (24!!!) to 27 in people's fics, which... no. XD
Oh, yeah, I've seen that too. XD I figure the authors are probably rather young, so they tend to see characters as young too.
